Hi again Everyone

Tomorrow morning at stupid o'clock I shall be boarding a cross-channel ferry from Poole on the southwest coast of England to Cherbourg in Brittany. It should be a five hour trip, but as there is industrial action over in France, it is likely to take quite a bit longer!

We are heading for La Trinite on the south coast of Brittany for three days, and then heading off to the south west Atlantic coast of France near Biarritz, which is a famous area for surfing. I love body-boarding so I am really looking forward to that.

We stay there for about a week, and then go to the Dordogne area for about another week. The Dordogne is a fascinating area. I have been there before, and have seen the incredible pre-historic cave paintings of which there are quite a few. Many of the caves have had to closed to the public because the very act of breathing causes the paintings to deteriorate. We were lucky enough to see one of those caves before it closed. It had an almost spiritual atmosphere, and had obviously been a place of deep religious significance to our cave-dwelling ancestors. The caves go deep underground, and the paintings looked almost like random scrawls until lighting which mimicked firelight was switched on, and then the creatures depicted there appeared almost lifelike!

I also hope to go canoeing on the River Dordogne through the deep ravines cut out by the river during the glacial period, and I am really looking forward to that too.

So I must bid you all adieu for the time being. Internet access will not be great there, and though I will try to dip into WA from time to time, there is no guarantee that I will be able to do so. I will try to post some photos if I can.

Thank you all so much for your help, support and friendship during my WA journey so far. Try not to miss me too much ha ha!! And I know that you will all continue to enjoy the ride at!

So until I return in the middle of July, enjoy the summer!
