Beware Of Webinars!

If you are like me, you probably get lots of email invitations to view webinars.
These webinars promise to give you new information on subjects which would probably be of interest to you in your business, and promise that the information which they will give you will lead to increased success to you.
And if you log in to the webinar, very often that interesting information is there. So you get drawn in and continue to watch it, possibly taking notes on the subject.
Recently I was drawn in to just such a video. It promised to reveal an amazing new and very effective method of advertising, and I was interested to find out more about it, against my own better judgement, as I know that it is very rare to get something useful at no cost!
The method was indeed very new and innovative, and one that I thought would be very helpful to me. So I watched it all the way through, and it lasted almost an hour and a half!
It was "shiny object syndrome" all over again!! I had been reeled in and I thought I would really like to use this method!
Of course, I should have known better!! I was already aware that such a webinar was not going to give anything usable away for free, but as the webinar went on, I came to the conclusion that it might in fact be worth a modest investment! But when it came to the price for this method, I was shocked to find that they were asking $1000 for it!! A big NO NO for me!!
Also, for another $300 there was the opportunity to have a kind of "franchise" where you could offer the same opportunity to others and become an authority figure in that area!
And of course, according to the promoters, it was a very time limited offer which would give the buyer the advantage of getting in at the beginning of this method months before it became general knowledge!! Which was strange, as since I watched it I have received many more emails advertising the identical webinar with the same advantages of getting in on the ground floor!
I watched in amazement as viewer after viewer was lured in, and announced their excitement in the chat box. I felt sorry for them, because I was sure these gullible people were being duped.
So what have I learned from this?
Well, for a start, confirmation of my gut instinct to dislike and distrust webinars. I had previously been wary of them, mainly because it seems that there is no such thing as a short webinar, nor one that has no strings attached to it and is purely out to part you from your money, but I had been sucked in to watching this one. I am now determined that that will be the very last time!! I can think of far better ways to spend an hour and a half!!
So my message is, be very wary of webinars, and if you must watch them, don't say you haven't been warned!!!! But I am sure you have probably worked that out for yourself.
Of course, obviously WA study webinars could never fall into this category! They are definitely in the minority of webinars which offer something for nothing, instead of nothing for something as do the ones I am warning against!!

There are a lot of webinars out there for building out a consultant business.
I can't help thinking that (after huge investments!!!), one would be expected to do the same as the one talking on that screen.....
Passing on charisma and excitement to make money, perhaps a reasonably compact set of instructions (that are general success wisdom in disguise), and off we go!:(
I think such a "millionaire career" would be short-lived, and could end up costing us our friends, true business contacts and potential customers..........

I don't even bother with them any more. Most of the information they include as free you can usually find yourself. The only time I may consider one is if it presented as a non sales webinar which are few and far between. All the rest are glorified sales videos.

Like many things, there are good honest webinars and then others that just want your money. I've learned a tremendous amount through webinars--just use discretion.
A webinar almost always means that you are going to be "sold" something. Often times when these sales pages say they can slot you in for their "live" webinar, they also end up faking the fact that it is a pre-recorded and try to emulate the fact that it is live.
There are many programs on the other side of this that are teaching folks how to sell high ticket programs/services through webinars, so this likely is not going to go away any time soon as that is being taught out there.
I agree with you. Webinars used to be a great training tool, now they just seem to be the way to perpetuate the latest scam. Thanks for sharing.

It is kind of funny but not, how some of us....me. Keep getting pulled into this stuff and then see the price and wow. Love, Love, Love WA for that reason. s
