One of the best freebie plugins I've come across is FeedJit.

It sits on every page of my site, where every visitor will be shown a live running display of my visitors over time.

More importantly I can see where those visitors come from.

See it in action at http://fattenyourpurse.com/ and, if you like it, get it just by clicking the link at the foot of the display.

I absolutely love it.

Indeed a great tool, I just installed few days ago. Thank you Chris. Have a great day!! ;))

Another fan, then.

Great Tool. Thanks so much for sharing.

Even if you don't have much traffic now, this should be an incentive for you start adding useful content and building traffic for your visitors to see.

Yes, it certainly does that.

Thanks Chris and bookmarked.

Thanks.

Looks great Chris. I guess you want to wait until your site is generating good solid traffic before you do this, other wise your visitors will see nobody much comes here, yet.

I don't think that matters too much. If they can see it then they've already arrived. It's too late to put them off.

True enough, i guess I was thinking of the site trust thing.

Thank you Chris for the information and I am thinking of doing it too!

I've fallen in love with it.

Chris, I have been using this for about a week now. I think I got the idea from one of Loes' web sites. Anyway, I like it. Alex

Yeah, someone else suggested that's probably how I came across it.

As a normal web surfer I think if I seen this on a site I visited I would feel a little "stalked". I would feel as if you were getting more information than I wanted you to receive. Before I joined WA I would have left your site immediately upon seeing my location in your tracker.

Yes, I've sometimes felt that way myself in the past.

These days I know that the info is being collected, whether they tell me about it or not. It's very much the norm nowadays to visit a site, then find little ads following you around for the next few days. How effective they are I have no idea.

What makes it more amusing is sharing a computer with someone and seeing ads that try to work out what the heck it is that "the (hybrid, non-existent) user" actually wants.

If anyone is a fan of this then great, however it can never replace becoming really familiar with Google Analytics, who also tell you where your visitors came from and what they looked at .

I totally agree, but GA doesn't tell my visitors anything. Feedjit is part of my "engagement" in a way that GA never can be.

I totally agree I was going to say its a way to share then realised it wasn't but as you can see your visitors can see that there are other people watching. On thing though I would not put it above the fold there are more important things there.

It doesn't normally live above the fold. I moved it there this morning, while the WA blog post is current. It'll go back to its normal place in a week or two.

Hi Chris, Yes I have seen this on others' sites, I think I will add also to mine, it is kinda cool! Let's folks also know where the audience is coming from on your site too and what they were looking at...Thanks for sharing! Dave : )

I can't remember where or how I found it, but it is - as you say - so utterly cool. And so much more friendly than the normal analytical tools.

could have been from Loes she has had this on her site for months

That's quite possible. I love Loes' little gems.

I use this widget too, and just love it - for all the same reasons as you.

So it has a fan club, I'm glad to have joined it.

how do you stop your own site viewings from showing up Chris?

I haven't had it long enough to know, and haven't researched that yet.

I have noticed that it logs me only once. So I just leave one page open and it ignores me from then on, even when I change pages.

So I can afford to ignore the odd anomaly.

You don't - well at least I don't know if you can, I probably should check and see if there is that option, lol.

I just discount my own visits, when assessing the frequency and locations of visitors.
