Is This The Real Secret To Becoming a Successful Blogger? Saying No Instead of Yes!

On my blog iBusinessToday.com I wrote something very similar to this about a year and a half ago. About the right mindset for being successful as a blogger.

Its something I have thought about more lately. I mean really I've neglected my work here too much in recent times. The World Cup and Royal Mail strikes I have kind of been blaming but more so really I think the real issue has been my 'Say Yes' mentality. Getting drunk is not good if you want to build a successful online business but here is the thing I think - how many days are there after you've been out drinking that you've sobered back up and someone has asked if you want to go out again?

I know this is bad me saying this because Alcoholism isn't good behavior at the best of times but mostly I think there is a grey area here.

What Do I Mean?

I think you can go out every once in a while and it's therapeutic. Catching up with friends and going to see new places is good for mental health. Even if it does involve a few beers or a few glasses of wine but here is the thing that people must notice.

Besides this there must be times when you must say no.

Not just to drinking but to anything that takes you out of your work zone.

It happens to me so often - I am sober at the time and many of these times it isn't when I start drinking but it will be like my family can you do this, can you do that and I will be writing and I will just stop and say to myself I will carry on once I get back in and 2 hours later it's like my drive is gone.

That is another part of the 'Not saying No' that gets me.

Another Example

I will use this morning as an example. When I wake up it was early hours maybe 5-6 AM I think maybe even later and I felt wide awake. Like I think this is the perfect time to start writing but instead of getting out of bed I gave in to myself and instead didn't wake up till half 9 AM.

It's sounds strange but I know people will know what I mean. I didn't feel wide awake like at 5-6 o clock in the morning or whenever it was. Instead I felt groggy and sleepy. Not what you want if you are going to start the day for success.

The Success Mindset

So like I said I wrote a similar blog over a year ago on my website iBusinessToday.com and basically here is where you need to get to.

To be Successful you must want this more than anything else. You must make sacrifices and at the right times you must 'Say No To Say Yes'.

It is not as easy as it sounds. The best thing you can sometimes do is not answer people straightaway. Tell them you will think about it and get back to them.

Then think about it. What will happen if you say yes instead of no and what will happen if you say instead of yes?

Wise up and try this for yourself.

The End Result

So you want to become a successful blogger. I definitely DO NOT hold all the answers here but the one thing I can say is the time you put into this, like the time you put into anything you do this is what makes the difference.

If you are producing content you must be consistent and this is the secret to success and the more time you put into doing something the faster it will get done.

Pretty much what I need to do myself but anyway I hope anyone reading this finds this information helpful and if you have anything you'd like to add please drop me a comment below;

I can even go one step further. Sometimes when you don’t care, things slot into place. Like you have stopped worrying and it all falls into place.
Haha..the customer is never right. Write with that mindset and see what happens. Or start writing after you have watched a World Cup game…and your team lost…
If nothing else, it would be entertaining and possibly refreshingly brutal.

I’m sure you know you can’t put your website here on your WA blog, go back edit, remove the link then add your link at your profile page in bio and add links. You know the official rules here, so don’t get in trouble by doing this. I agree with what you stated. Just that you should never link your own site on WA blogs many people get away with this rule.

You speak some very wise words here, Alex! I am essentially just a beer drinker, having never acquired the taste for or tolerance for liquor. (Not that I have a total tolerance for beer if I drink too much at one time)

I too tend to stay in bed a little longer these days too! We should say no on occasion, and there are days when I hardly have any beer if at all. This post will help embolden me to get better, and it is very timely.

Fortunately, perhaps the only good thing, if it can be even called that, is that most times, I have been home all day working on my businesses and having beers there as opposed to venturing out an making an a$$ of myself, but of course, that is still no excuse!

This post was very timely for me to reflect on! Thanks for taking the time to write down these important thoughts!

Have an excellent start to Frisatsu!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, I think my issue is the going out part really lol 1-2 cans at home and I'm usually fine although even this I would say can be a problem with me. Usually, I will stop for a month or so at a time but really this is another thing I struggle with actually committing to getting into a routine of walking up early writing first thing, and working on important tasks.

My image of doing what it really takes to be successful is just getting to work everyday. Saying no to the wrong things like not getting out of bed and walking away from an article that is almost ready to publish.

Maybe I can work on all these things in the new year we will see.

I need to do a little of that too, Alex! We'll see how the new year goes, my friend!

Jeff

I don’t drink a lot these days , but when I did I made sure I would have 1 month off completely and not drink. Free February or April avoidance.
Haha, it always amazed me though how these months would normally fall on February ( the shortest month of the year) lol.

Haha! Nothing wrong with that Stevoi!

I might take a page out of your playbook!

Jeffoi

Very helpful and informative…Thank you!

-Mike

Thanks Mike

Very interesting and informative article

On the other hand, it is best if you remove the links to your website

I'm sure you must know by now that is against the WA rules as it is deemed as self promotion.

Have a great weekend ahead
