Why I Follow Newbies
I am very aware that when I first started here at Wealthy Affiliate we were encouraged to follow new members and that it would help our fulfilment then when they changed the ranking system I remember Carson saying that it doesn't make any difference now if you keep following people as it is no longer counted towards your fulfilment.
I know that a lot of people used to follow every single person to get their fulfilment going up quicker but although I am aware I do tend to follow all the ones who come up under my profile image, I would like to say that I do this more as a courtesy to our newbies as opposed to following them for fulfilment purposes.
I remember one day going to someones profile to see if I could help them as they were talking about leaving and they had been there for a month or two and they had no followers and it made me feel sad to see this so I vowed that I would always follow the newbies who join.
I know there are some out there within WA who will be off the opinion that newbies should follow people and then they will get follows back but I remember when I started thinking OMG where do I go from here and what do I do now. It can be really daunting when we start something at somewhere that is totally new and you are not sure who to follow.
I remember the first people to follow and welcome me were cosmicradio and Jude and it was so nice to be welcomed and made to feel like you already belong to this great community.
I don't know what other people's thoughts are on following newbies but I am sure we can all remember back to that first day when you got your first welcome and how nice it was to feel to be made to fit in like you have been there forever.
So please everyone the next time we see a newbie can we welcome them as we always do and make them feel special.
Have a good weekend everyone and,

very good post all of us were new at one time and we all need to remember that we were not always at the top or even the middle and a little encouragement in the beginning goes a long way to create loyalty. Jerry
You are very welcome Jerry, thank you and we were all newbies at one point. I agree with you on the encouragement at the beginning going a long way to creating loyalty. xxxx
Hi Carol, you are very welcome, I tend to do the ones that come up under my profile pic and if I am on someones profile and there are people who I haven't followed, I will follow them. xxxx
I agree with you completely! Although I do have to admit that since I got sick this past fall, I have been very lax about that as well as many things here at WA! Now that I am getting back on track, following new people is one of the items on daily to-do list!
Kristin, it is nice to see you back here and I am glad to hear that you are better. I wouldn't worry about these things, you just need to start again and take it easy as your health comes first. xxxx
Thank you! Yes, health does come first but I do have to say that I do have some ideas for a new niche site! Just have to finalize my thoughts on it!

You are so right, and Live Chat is a good place to find Newbies to follow also, and to encourage them to "Follow Their Training"...
Hi Joe, thank you and you are right that you can find a lot of people who are new here that you haven't followed. Even just following the ones who come up under your profile image is a good place to do it too. xxxx
You're right, Cheryl.
That's where I find a lot of my newbies that I welcome. It is a warm fuzzy feeling to know you're being followed, (from the newbie's perspective), and it's a nice warm fuzzy for us when we welcome them and offer help or a referral to someone else if we don't know the answer.
I still feel like and sometimes consider myself to be a newbie, even though I'm probably not technically one any more. I'm still a newbie in my training and technology, that's for sure! And I value your guidance and encouragement so much.
I wasn't aware that people followed others to get rankings or whatever, I guess I'm so naive that I just thought everyone was being friendly to be nice to a newcomer.
I certainly agree that we need to encourage and welcome them, as you (and others of my followers/followees --is that a new word I just created??--that are now my friends) did for me. Paying it forward is what it's all about.
