Who Likes Special Offers
Today I am going to let you know what it means when you see the words SPECIAL OFFERS on the listings for Kindles.
When you decide to buy a kindle from either a retailers site or Amazon, you may look at the listings to see what it says in the description for the particular item where you will quite often see the words "Includes Special Offers".
However, if you decide to choose not to have these Special Offers then you will notice that the price will jump making the item £10/$20 more than it is with the special offers.
What the Special Offers essentially mean is that you have advertisements which Amazon use as screen savers on your kindle. This means, that when your Kindle has be in sleep mode and you then turn it on, there will either be an advert perhaps for the Amazon Kindle Store or even an advert from a third party which you just swipe away and carry on reading.
Some people may find this idea annoying, but you have to make the decision as to whether you want to take the Special Offers and pay the cheaper price including the adverts that you can very easily swipe away or if you would prefer to go without the Special Offers and not have the adverts although it will cost you more.
While your Kindle is in the sleep mode, the adverts still move on the screen. However, they are don't appear to use any power and they are not lit up. Also, when you are powering on your device after shutdown, the adverts don't appear to slow anything down either.
If you make the decision to take advantage of the Special Offers but further down the line you don't like the adverts you do have the option to pay the price difference and have them removed.
Hopefully, you have found this helpful. I know I would go for the Special Offers and just swipe the advert away rather than paying extra just to get them removed.
