What Is A Friend?
I have been thinking a lot lately about friendships and what our friends all mean to us. I know that in the time I have been here at WA I have formed a lot of friendships with lots of people and I have lost friends as well because they have left.
The one question that comes back to me regularly though is "What is a Friend?". I thought I would answer this question from my own perspective with the use of images and quotes that I can say relates to how I think on what a friend to me is.
I am interested to see how everyone else answers the question as to how they think what a friend is to them.

Definitely, there are some good friends here online at WA. I'm consistently amazed at the willingness to share I've found in this group. That's unusual in a group of entrepreneurs. Its like we ALL know that with the millions and millions of online users as a potential market for our work, we have plenty of customers for ALL of us to succeed in our ventures. Need you ask, I'm your friend! and that's that.
I hear you, what do I feel a friend is. To me someone who listens to you. Is no overly critical although can speak up when needed to set you straight.
A friend is there in times of need, baby sitting, bowl of soup when your're ill (sorry I couldn't come to you when you were sick tee hee)
To be honest, when you're far away and cannot connect, only words can make do. Not much I know but it's the only resource we have.
A great reminder though for us all, to be a good friend.

Good stuff here for sure. A friend is to me, someone I can trust to confide in. And, one who always has my back, but in an honest way. If that wasn't the case, I couldn't trust the person again because a friend is also one who puts me back on my "straight and narrow." My two cents.
That is so very true of a friend Tom and thanks very much. We all need that someone to get us back on the straight and narrow when we fall off and it is always a very real and true friend that will make sure you are all right. xxxx

Thank you for a most worthy subject. Now you are challenging me to put into words what a friend is to me.
Without a doubt Sue is my best friend.. We share so much together from our Tuesday-night-at- the-movies (at home) to sightseeing around our area to working side-by-side on "different projects"
Like I said it is hard to put into words these mental and spiritual concepts. Thanks for your challenge.

Wow, I really enjoyed reading this Cheryl. To me a friend is there when you need them, but also understands that you can only give so much. They don't expext the world from you. And whether they just listen, offer a smile or give great advice, a friend is someone you just want around you.
This was nice to read. It makes me think about all the friends that that I have. It also makes me realize what kind of friend I am an think for the great reminders

What a friend means to me is someone who sticks by you through thick and thin and looks out for you and watches your back. That is what a friend means to me. Great post I enjoyed reading it.
What I've learned about friendships is that they can go through stages...and that's OK. One friend can go from being your best buddy, a casual friend, to your closest confidant in a short period of time.
There's a saying that people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. It takes wisdom - and patience - to allow the process to evolve organically.

I wish I take credit for it, Tiarne, but I'm just passing on what I've heard, lol.
But I really had to learn not to try to force people into any category. Once I learned that the weirdness disappeared.
