New Standalone App For Shopping From Instagram

Now I am aware that some of the members here at Wealthy Affiliate may already know this but there are probably just as many that will not.

It appears that Instagram are in the process of creating a standalone App which will be dedicated to just shopping.

It was discovered that the name of the App which may be called IG Shopping will allow Instagram users the facility to peruse the goods collections as well as being able to purchase anything from any of the merchants they follow, straight from the App.

There has not been any indication of a launch date as the development is ongoing plus it could still even be cancelled rather than being released. However, sources that aready know about the App and it's progression have indicated that Instagram are believing that they are are in good stead for making a great expansion into e-commerce.

Now, as there are over 25 million companies who already own instagram accounts which 2 million of them are advertisers, the Chief Operating Office for Facebook stated that considering the recent earnings call for Instagram, there will be at least four in five of it's users who will follow one business at least.

This is meaning that the creation of an App which is standalone will give Instagram the opportunity of providing a home which is dedicated to the increasing favoured activity within Instagram plus making sure that the avenues for revenue are still expanding. This then, would give Facebook over time, the chance to offer more tools to the merchants who are choosing to build their own businesses on Instagram. This would however, directly challenge other e-commerce platforms such as Shopify.

I personally think that this is a great idea from Instagram but I also understand that anyone who already have a shopify platform set up may be thinking differently. I suppose though, we will just have to wait and see if this even materialises and it is not use fretting or getting excited until we know for definite that it is going to happen.
