Never Say Never
This is just a short blog today. I have not been active on WA over the last few weeks as I have had a lot going on in my personal life. That I am not going to go into but I really just want to say to everyone here and ask you to let friends and family aware to.
Please be careful when you are using instagram. I was recently scammed out of rather a large amount of money after being contacted by someone who said they were Sheryl Sandberg from Facebook telling me that I had won on the Facebook Lottery as my instagram profile had been chosen. I am not going to go into the ins and outs of this as it will take forever.
I always said that I would never be scammed, believe me when these people get into your head they have you well and truly hooked. They are so convincing and manipulating that they really make you think the thing is real.
I have since gone and reported this to the police and hopefully we will get at least some if not all of the money back. You can not believe how stupid I feel at being drawn in by them. I just want to say that we should never say we will never be a victim as it is easier than you can imagine.
So everyone please be very careful and if followed or contacted by the above named please ignore and block them,

Fraud is not good no matter how it is perpetrated. Sorry to hear of your loss Cheryl. I hope you manage to get all your money back.

Oh no, that is too bad! I hope you will be able to get at least part of the money back. I totally understand what you mean, when you say you feel stupid - you believe (as we all do!) that you would never have to be one of those people...but you know what, I think it takes quite some guts to admit this and share this and by doing so, you are warning and hopefully preventing other people from having the same experience. For that I thank you!
Thank you so much for your comment and I really would like to stop anyone else being haunted by this woman who claims to be a woman of god who goes to church every Sunday and claims to swear on the life of her two children. That is the biggest joke.
It was not a nice experience to have someone keep contacting you every day telling you how real this scam was and how they really wanted you to get your card. So if you are ever approached about winning something on Facebook please report the person. xxxx
Cheryl, I am so sorry to learn of what has happened to you. These scammers are so smart and extremely horrible.

Thank you so very much Valerie. You are right, they are very smart. That was the funny thing though as the instigator was always very nice and I think that's why I was drawn in so much.

Thank you Mia, the thing is these people do not even give a second thought to what they are doing, they are just thinking about how much money they can get out of you.
Cheryl, this makes me feel terrible. So sorry this happened to you, this can happen to anyone. I really hope the police get some of your money back for you.
Thank you very much friend. Yes it wasn't nice and the more it went on the more frustrating it got. I just kept thinking I need to get this to replace the money I had taken to get it. Davie has a friend who works in the Police and he used to be in the Fraud Squad so he is keeping an eye on everything.
Oh, Cheryl that is not so good, we have to be so careful when we are online. We can get so busy that we get a little ruff around the edges.

Thanks Alexander, you are right we do get to the stage where we drop our guard but this woman came on to WhatsApp very confidently and managed to convince me that this was real.
I just feel so stupid about it but it's done now and I wish I could turn the clock back. xxxx
Sorry to hear that, I absolutely understand what you are mentioning by when the people get into your head - have experience from earlier when some person come to the hotel I worked on the reception and after he pretends to call with my boss I gave him some money - I feel so ashamed after I realised what just happened, but those people are trained to do things like that. It could happen to anyone! Finger crossed to get some money back. Do not let ruin your summer and wish you all the best!

You are right. It is easy to advise others about being scammed.
But when it happens to us, we are not aware of it.
That is why I tell my family to not let our guard down.
Last Wednesday my wife almost got scammed but luckily she calls me in time and I tell her to just put down the phone.

Sorry to hear about this Cheryl. I know what you feel like, I thought it would never happen to me too. Be ever vigilant. There are so many crooks online today, that we have to question everything... I hope you are able to get this resolved. And thanks for the reminder.

Thank you very much Ray. It really isn't nice is it. You think you will never let that happen and that you will know but they are so very clever.
You are very welcome and I can honestly say I learnt my lesson. This wasn't even something that happened in the one day it started at the beginning of May till the end of July.
