Do You Lie About Your Age

Yesterday I left a blog saying Happy Birthday to Chris (Teddy Bear), I do not know if he saw it or not as he has never replied to anyone who left him birthday wishes. I hope he had a great day and was spoiled.

Has anyone here at WA ever made the decision to lie about their age or do you always confess if someone asks. I know that a lot of people do not like to be asked their age but does it really matter. To me it is really only a number which indicates the amount of years I have been on this earth.

A birthday really is just another day the same as the rest of them, unless you are having a special birthday like your 18th, 21st or one that has a BIG FAT 0 at the end then they can be classed as a milestone birthday.

I do know what age Chris was yesterday but promised that I would not say as it is not my place to tell you all.

Hope you are all having a good week so far even though we are nearly at the end of another one.

So once again tomorrow is Friday and another week is almost over.

I don't mind telling my age but I have had a few friends that would always say they were my age even though they were two or three years older. I feel about age like you do it is just a number but I guess some people are just paranoid or superstitious about it

Thanks Mitch, I really don't mind either as to me it is a number, that's all. I never understand people who say they are younger than what they are, does it really matter.

I have never thought on people being superstitious, paranoid yes although I don't know why. xxx

I stopped lying about my age after the third 30th birthday party I had over three consecutive years.

Giving up the charade was hard, but as no one believed me any more - I had no choice but to accept reality and simply remember those times with fondness and a twinkle in my eye!

Thanks Karen, I like that one lol. 30th Party for 3 years in a row sounds like good fun.

That must have been hard but at least now you have moved on and remember all these times with fondness as you say. xxx

Absolutely.... and with the big 50 only a few y ars away, I couldn't keep up the charade forever

That is so true Karen, I think people would have cottoned on eventually, such a pity though lol. xxxxx

No, I don't lie about my age...except on Facebook since I don't want to put too much personal information out there due to identity theft issues. I don't try to hide my age to anyone though, it is what it is so what good would it do to lie? You can't actually change it!

Exactly Jessica, you can't change your age so what is the point in lying about it. I really don't know why people want to lie accept of course as you say in case of identity theft. My age to me is a number and that is all, it is not a reflection on my well being at all lol. xxxx

I am proud to be 53! It means I am a bit wiser, and stronger, at least in my own head! I look back at my younger years and think, yikes! I wouldn't go back to them for nothing! I love my life now. I am learning continuously and grateful for each moment I am alive! Age is truly a number. How you feel is all up to you!
Thanks for the wonderful post Cheryl!

Hi Taylor, you are the same age as my husband and you have every right to feel how you want to feel. Somethings I would like to go back to my younger years for but I wouldn't like to be that age now.

You are right, age is only a number and it is up to you how you want to feel.

You are very welcome and glad you liked it. xxxx

I never feel comfortable anyone asking me my age unless it`s a new doctor or would be employer.
Since I never ask anyone how old they are, I feel it`s none of their business to know how old I am.
Ok, it was different when I was in my 20s, but mid 40s...........

It doesn't bother me if people ask I will tell them but I never offer my age as I never think it is important to anyone.

I'm the same in that I never ask anyone their age either as I don't really need to know. xxxx

I have no need or reason to lie about my age;

I am as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth.

The closest I get to lying about it is when I was asked how old I was in January I said 62 even though my birth month was not until August.

You are very right Mickey, there is absolutely no reason to lie about your age. It is an easy mistake to make as well though in saying your age but your birthday is months away.

Love your bit about your tongue and your teeth lol. xxxx

Thank you, Cheryl, for this timely post. It's the birthday of my husband today. He just turned Big 5-0 which according to Victor Hugo is the youth of old age. Another milestone or chapter of our life that we need to celebrate. Actually, will be celebrating his birthday this coming Saturday together with our friends. We are looking forward to it and hoping that it will be a successful one where every one will have a great time. Wish us luck!
Have a nice day, Cheryl! :)

Hi Adel, tell your husband that I say happy birthday and hope he is having a great day and you are spoiling him.

I always go back to the saying that 50 is the new 40 lol. I will be the same age on the 3rd November and will celebrate it but I just think that it is a number.

Have a great weekend celebrating your husbands birthday and I am sure that everyone will have a great time.

Good luck, but I am sure you won't need it.

Have a good day too.

Thank you so much, Cheryl for the b-day greetings and the lovely pix. He will be coming home soon from work and I cooked a special dinner for him. Hope he likes it! :)

You're welcome Adel. xxx

No, I don't lie about my age. It's right out there on my profile page.

I don't know why someone would want to anyway. There is nothing we can do about it so why hide it. It is what it is.

I'm astonished about how old I am because I don't even know how I'm supposed to feel.

I remember when I was 25 that I used to wonder what life would be like physically at 50 or if I would ever make it that far. I'm way beyond that now.

I thank God for every day that He's given me on this planet and I count every day a bonus since my heart bypass surgery, getting close to 1.5 years ago.

I think we should treat every day, whether a birthday or not, as a gift. Tomorrow is not promised and yesterday is gone. All we have left is today so let's make the most of it.

I have to say Wayne that I totally agree with you here in all of what you have said.

I will be 50 on the 3rd November 2017 but have to say i don't even think about it. As I said it is just a number to me.

I just take each day as it comes and live my life the way I want in the best way I can. xxx

I'm going to be 65 this month. Since my niche is Baby Boomers, it is actually advantageous to let people know my age. In fact, I just posted an article about Medicare and the Baby Boomer on my site - So if anyone would like to wish me a "happy birthday" on September 22nd, you go right ahead. I promise to hit the "LIKE" button.

Just please don't try to send a cake through the mail. I prefer mine fresh baked :-)

I will most certainly wish you happy birthday on the 22nd Hal and I hope you are going to do something nice for your birthday.

I will most certainly not try to send you cake so do not worry lol. xxx

Lou Holtz had a great saying about his birthday. "My candles cost more than the cake!"

Like it Glen, that must have been some amount of candles then lol. xxx

Thank you, Cheryl :-)

You are welcome Hal. xxx

Good afternoon Cheryl,

When I had my birthday in May I went to change my age on my profile. So there you see, no problem with me. I have always told my age and will continue doing so. In case I have a face lift I will also say so but have not had one yet.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Good on you Taetske, I don't think I have my age on my profile lol. However I have never lied about my age either and I have a big birthday this year lol. xxx
