Books, Books and More Books

As I have said before I am an avid reader and love reading books. The time I read the most is at night when I go to bed, before I go to sleep.

I do like to take a good book on holiday with me too and very often take my Kindle as I can take lots of books but not have the weight of lots of books.

I was tidying up the books that I have both read and have still to read and was surprised to see how many books I had actually read recently. Most of them are Thrillers which I really like at the moment rather than the romance ones however I do have some in the pile that are romance.

Most nights I try to go to bed before my husband so that I have the light on and can read before I go to sleep otherwise he moans at me for putting the light on if he goes to bed first. Does it make me stop reading though, NO CHANCE.

Whenever I go into our local Supermarket, I can't leave the store before going to the aisle with the books to see if there are any new ones that I fancy and want to read. When it gets to like Mothers Day, My Birthday or Christmas you can guarantee that I will have a list of books that I want to read to give to my daughter.

When it comes to getting books for Christmas, I find that I prefer to read books that are set around that time as they always make me feel all festive and when you are sitting in the warmth with a nice cup of tea/coffee or even better a Hot Chocolate with cream and marshmallows and a good book there is no better feeling.

The only book I have read recently and was disappointed with was Gone Girl. I was so looking forward to reading this book and had looked for it for ages. The story itself is good but the way it is written was what I didn't like.

Three Authors of the Thriller books I have read and liked are C.L.Taylor, Claire MackIntosh and Alexandra Burke. I would certainly recommend having a look at their books. My favourite one so far has been I Let You Go by Claire and I can't wait to read her other book I See You.

I know there are a lot of readers here but not sure what kind of books you like. Please feel free to let me know and I will let you know if I have read it.

Have a great Wednesday.

The person who does not read is the same as one who cannot read.

I don't know if I would agree with that Elijah. Some people like to use audio books instead of reading but that doesn't mean that they can't read. Xx

Good books make good writers Cheryl!

Thank you Mike, so I can count on you to buy my first book when I write it lol. Xx

Send me a review when you finish It Cheryl

I will need to start it first never mind finish it Mike lol. What type of book would you like? Xx

I need to know your niche and the passion you put into it Cheryl!

My niche Mike is about the different ways in how you can read books nowadays like on a kindle, a pc/lap top, audio books, braille for people who are blind or have sight problems and your usual hardback and paperback books. Probably don't put as much passion as I should into put into it. Xx

Hi Cheryl, I love reading mainly non fiction. Irv.

Everybody likes different things so we will never all read the same kind of books. Xx

Hi Cheryl, I am an avid reader also. I have hundreds of books on my iphone and ipad. I download new free ones each week. The great thing about that is if I don't like one, I can just close it and pick another that catches my attention quick. I also find new authors to follow and yes they do make money off making the first in a series free because people like me will purchased the rest of the series. Great marketing scheme.
I like romances, especially Christian and Amish romances, science fiction and fantasy and some self help type books. I also collect cookbooks (Paleo and lowcarb and vegetarian ones).
I read Dee Henderson, Beverly Lewis, Andre Norton and Anne McCaffey. Have you read any of their books?

Thanks for your comments Shirley and I certainly don't have that many books on my kindle or in my house as I only really keep ones that I really want to read again, otherwise I tend to give them to my friend and she gives me ones that she reads. I would say though that I have read probably hundreds of books.

I haven't read any of the authors you mention but will certainly have a look at them. Xx

sdawson, where do you buy the majority of your books ? Do you think books would be a good item to promote ?

Hello Cheryl, I am a reader myself, usually on vacation. I read many genre, African history, spiritual, martial arts, biographies, thrillers and mysteries. Authors Lustbader, Grisham, Stieg Larsson, and LeCarre.

Thanks for your comment Harvey and pleased to see you are a reader also. I have read a few autobiographies and have read some books about the history of Scotland which I have enjoyed. One I really liked was the story about the masacre of Glencoe. I do really like thrillers and there are loads out there at the moment that I really want to read.

I haven't read any of the authors you mention just yet but will see what ones I fancy. Xx

Thanks to wake me up with a friendly message !

Greets,

Good morning, Cheryl! Nice to meet another avid reader! I have had a love of reading since second grade - more years than I like to admit to! :) Some of my favorite authors include Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, etc., etc, I could probably give you a huge list but I'll stop there.
When my husband and I first moved into our house, we designated the best upstairs bedroom as my office (I used to have a job where I traveled most of the time, and needed an office for when I worked from home) and we lined the walls with 9 bookshelves - all with six shelves. And then proceeded to unpack all the boxes of books. All of the bookscases are filled with hardbacks. No place for all my paperbacks - they're still in boxes in the bedroom closet. Most of the reading I do now though is on my Kindle. I also have Kindle for my PC and Kindle on my iPhone. It's so convenient. There are some authors that I still buy hardbacks to collect, though. Thanks for sharing your love for books - nice to meet another reader!

You are very welcome Julie. I tend to pass my books on once I have read them and if I want to keep them I get them back but other than that I give them away.

Out of the Authors you mention, I have only read Debbi Macomber. I do have books on my kindle but not on my iPhone or pc.

Will be good to see what other authors you and I both like. Xx

reading is a lost art with all the information thrown at us today. many of the Millennials grew up with MTV so their attention span lasts 3 minutes or less. I like to read Romance novels mainly because all the relationships seem perfect and there is no perfect relationship when you're dealing with personalities. Usually when a couple comes together and marry it's because they both have the same goals, but along the way those goals change and the marriage falls apart. Longevity in any marriage today is a novelty not the norm---it takes a lot of effort from both parties to stay together for the long haul.

I agree - sitting down with a good book just can't be beat - and it is getting to be a lost art.

Thanks Davida for your comment and totally agree with everything you have said here. Xx

Thanks for sharing, I love the reading myself, I haven't read the mention above in your post. I will check them out

Good morning Anthony! Nice to meet another reader! Have a great and blessed day!

Hi Anthony for your comment and the books I have mentioned, I have all thoroughly enjoyed. There are so many more books that I want to read though. Xx
