So in my yesterday's post, I've mentioned that I had to take Tyra to the hospital to get her up to date with her shots. For those that wanted to know, it has gone exceptionally well and I'm very pleased about that and the total cost for this visit only came up to $80 which is still considered a little iffy to a lot of people (myself included). I just wanted to pop in here to tell you that everything went well and that she's doing fine and back to her old self and I'm very pleased as a result. 🙂

This is the inside of the office room at the new Vet Hospital. 🏥

Thanks for reading!

Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and getting your furbaby her shots.
Pets are more expensive than people actually realize; especially upkeep of their health needs. The $80 is not easy for some of us to come up with in one chunk, but I can swallow it a little easier breaking it down in my mind to justify the cost.

•$80/360= .22 per day

•You're insuring a great deal of physical protection for your well loved pet against devastating diseases such as rabies (can get from soil), canine distemper (highly contagious from contact of other dogs, bowls, toys), hepatitis (contagious), canine parvovirus (soil), Lyme disease (ticks), canine influenza (other dogs), leptospirosis (water), and kennel cough (other dogs). Dog parks are mine fields.

•Your action will give you peace of mind that you are less likely to incur additional costs in the long run; i.e., if your pet nips another human, and your pet is not vaccinated, they could be quarantined, even euthanized, not to mention you could be sued.

•Your responsible behavior is keeping other pets safe and hopefully inspiring other owners to do the same.

• In some states, it's the law that they at least get rabies vaccination (lasts 3 yrs, but can be administered as often as every year or as a booster if you know your vaccinated pet came into contact with a rabid animal.)

•(This won't be popular but...) Vets and vet supplies, business overhead, education, malpractice insurance, salaries, etc. are all very real expenses to the clinic. On top of that, the purpose of a business in an overall sense, is to make a profit and that includes all the way up the chain to the pharmaceutical manufacturer.

I'm likely preaching to the choir, but it helps me to bring an issue, (especially monetary) to it's relative cause. It might help you feel a little better about pet health expenses. : )

(note: You'll be horrified to know I spent $10,000 on my dog last year for emergency surgery to remove a bone from his stomach - it was a nightmare involving three vet clinics!! Yes...I love him that much.)

I'm glad yesterday was an eventful day for Tyra
Glad she is doing okay

Thanks, Simone! Luckily we are not that far behind. It's the other hospital that seems to be feeling a certain way because I haven't been bringing Tyra to there frequently. Not since Jan 2021.

Myra
