Success(What's it to ya?)
A Pipe Dream
Back when I was in my 20s I would spend most Saturday's at the hair salon.
I was getting the latest hair do. Spending all kinds of money and didn't care about. All I knew was I had to get my hair done.
Growing up becoming a beautician was all the rage in my area. I think getting dolled up is what made it look glamours to me and other girls. Not to mention seeing all the cash floating about because back then there were no debit cards.
I saw my beautician driving a Lexus and I wanted one so bad. I was really envious of her life.
Until one day, I was waiting for her to do my hair. She asked me,if I mind waiting 15 minutes longer so she could get something to eat. I am a pretty easy going person. I said," yeah sure no problem".
In those moments as I sat there and watched her eat, I realized something. I did not want her life. She is up early every day and on her feet all day long. Never knowing when she can take a break.
I learned something that day. I was not equipped nor did I have the grace to deal with what she was dealing with the occupation she had chosen.
My Own Life
I have had questions asked of me before. You know the ones, that how do you do what you do (referring to my job). I know not everyone can be on the road like me. Being away from their families for months on end like I have. Moving from place to place, never really knowing where you will be next. Adapting to a different surrounding all the time. Not putting down any real roots.
My answer is always the same. The LORD has granted me grace to do this.
Those thoughts brought me here, to the WA platform. The home of so many us of working, pushing to get ahead and succeed on these different levels. It dawned on me "success" what is it?
How does each one of us describe success? Is it really just money? I am sure there are many miserable wealthy people in the world. As well as many happy not so wealthy people in the world.
When we all first came on here the question was"How much do you want to make?" I for one said 7-figures yearly would be nice. Trust me it would be.
Reality
But that's not how I measure success.
In my family we haven't experienced a lot of death. All together there is about 50 of us.
Most of my family is above ground.
I am thankful and grateful for that.
I consider that success.
Money cannot buy you happiness!
Although it is a hell of a way to be miserable(TEE HEE)

Success to me is having peace of mind in the certain knowledge that I've wrung the BEST effort out of myself to achieve a particular goal.
Additionally, should I fail in the attempt, that there is an opportunity to learn from the experience.
Many times success can spring up from a temporary setback.
It is ok to fall down (fail), but it is imperative that I regain my feet, and continue stepping forward.
Never giving up...is success also.

Success to me is accomplishing what I set out to learn. It has nothing to do with money. It has everything to do with helping others. Making a difference in someone’s life, family, friends and those who need a lift.
That’s all I have ever wanted to do. This is success.

This story tells you what real success feels like and what you need to do differently to avoid some of the pitfalls that happen along the way to it.
Success for me would be to leave behind good memories and maybe a legacy. I look at my father in law right now and i help out in the evsnings because he has dementia and mom in law has Alzheimers. She is 88 and he is 90 yrs old. success..his legacy is a full family and the years of wisdom and advise that he has given all of us.

I love elderly people they are so precious, funny, cranky. I enjoy all of it.
Elderly people are walking history.
Absorb as much information as you can from them. Write it down so you can pass it on to your offspring.
Bless you for helping them and making sure they are okay.
All of your love and and assistance will come back to you in some form in your life. Just remember that one day you will get older too.

To me success is the ability to smile through anything life throws at me.
Because life is tough and scary most of the time.
Also ability to make someone smile.
Learning new things.
I like to define success as a sum of little positive things that happen to us.
More like a journey- not a destination
You have to learn to move like a boxer. Life throws all kinds of stuff at each ones of us. Learning how to duck and dodge and bob and weave is a must.
