No Duplicate Content - Good Luck With That!
I have been writing content now for just over a year, and I am convinced, there is no way to have no duplicate content on your website.
That doesn't mean there is a lot, it just means there is bound to be some of your own words that are going to be duplicates of other pages on your site. It is your way of writing and most likely speaking.
According to Google, Duplicate Content is defined as follows:
" Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar."
To me, and many experts, this means don't copy from other sites or your own site, content that is word for word the same, or very close to it. And that means large sections of content, not a few words here or there.
And by the way, Google does not penalyze you for duplicate content. That's right, but they do frown on it so you should always do your best to make all your content unique.
Don't for example, use spinner software.
Don't copy big sections of content from other sites, even from your own.
And definitely, don't think you can copy an entire article and republish it as your own and expect to get it ranked. Google will instead, rank the original article and yours will drop like a rock.
In my case, I do a lot of product reviews on products that contain very similar ingredients. Obviously much of the descriptions of these ingredients will be similar on many of my articles. That is not considered duplicate content.
I hope this clears up duplicate content for some of you who were worried about it.
I will answer any and all questions about this subject.
Have a great SEO day!

I agree. I think cooking / recipe sites and products with very specific manufacturing data all have very, very, very similar key information. I mean how many ways can you explain "How to roast a chicken for dinner?"
Thank you sir. I do believe any interpretation of someone's content, to me, will always be different.
What I try to do is read people's content and make it go into my nervous system and know that it'll rise from within with my own way of saying it.
I do believe that no 2 people are the same in thought and outlook. So with that I am confident enough to blaze my own path even though I learned it from some one else.
Thanks for the great post my friend.

We all learn from someone else Frank it's the way of the world but it doesn't mean we have to agree does it. so keep on blazing that path

Glad I can help here at WA. Best of luck to you. Feel free to PM me any time you need help.
Everything you say here is true but, paradoxically, there is one site in my niche that regularly makes it onto Google page 1 that blatantly copies and pastes content from the other 9 into its article.
I am glad to help, especially my favorite nurse. I did a lot of research on this to make sure I was not doing anything wrong on my site.

Essentially, i believe the the goal should be to paraphrase (not duplicate) pertinent content into a post and source it. I find that a thesaurus can be very useful in this process as well. The only copy and pasting i do is for quotes. Then of course, source the quote.
Blessings, Brad
Just be careful of plagiarism.
