Is there a way to hide the time stamp on your posts? I feel it would look fresher and not as dated, specifically with my older posts.

I agree with Dale. Although the date stamp can be removed, it is better to update a page. I look for a date stamp when I visit a site,

What if you have 1500 posts, and many of them are 7-8 years old?

Update them :)

Out of date content serves no purpose to anybody & can actually hinder SEO efforts, so you may as well either update it or delete it.

I have close to 3000 posts in several sites, there is no way to update everything so that a fresh date is displayed. Removing dates is only option.

The content is not necessarily out of date, but nobody will click on an 8 years old post in a SERP.

With that many posts, the content will likely be outdated. I would delete the oldest ones. If you might want to rework them, save them.

I have a feeling that we are not talking about the same issues. There are evergreen contents that can hardly be outdated. Imagine you write about your mountaineering tours. Mountains change very little in our lifetimes. Or imagine you write essays about baroque music.

But a 7-8 years old date stamp can look very bad. In any case, I stop here.

You can, but generally, it's recommended to go back & keep old posts updated. Many people (including myself) like to see a date to determine if the information on a page is still relevant.

To hide the date, you can do this in many themes (such as GeneratePress) from the "customize" panel, but if it is not available as a theme customization option then you can install a plugin to remove it as well.

No need for plugin, this is easily done as Shannon suggested. Most importantly, this removes dates in SERPs as well.

Depends on the theme, some themes will display "posted on:" but show no date if using Shannon's method. Can give it a try, but it may not provide the desired results.

I have done it in 4 different themes, it removes everything, both on the site and in SERPs.

You can go into Settings > General ... Scroll down to Date Format and Time Format. Select Custom and then leave the box blank in each setting. This will clear out any date/time of the posting.

It is not necessary to use a plugin or custom css :)

Hope this is of help for you!
Best, Shannon

You could use a WP plugin WP Date Remover Plugin

or appearance -> customize -> additional css
.entry-date published {
display: none !important; }

If css does not work for your theme view source and see what data name is for your theme.
