Can someone direct me to the best training for website customization and when is the best time and how to add affiliate links?

Hi, Cfisk1. I’m glad you ask this question because I myself didn’t know and the answers below are helping some of us.
Thanks a lot.

When you feel you have enough content and interest in your website then start putting your links on the website.

Derek

I need to post a lot more content! Thanks for the suggestion.

I just looked into it and you need three qualifying purchases in 4 months with Amazon before your account is canceled. So I will need two more.

Hi - its actually 3 sales in 180 days, which is 6 months, so you have more time than you thought!

Funny you should mention that. I just this minute got an email from Amazon reminding me that I have 90 days left.

Like many new members, I probably made the mistake of linking affiliates to my website too soon.

There are a couple of reasons why this isn't a good idea. First of all, take Amazon for instance. If you don't make a sale within a certain amount of time (I'm not sure if it's three or four months)they will cancel your account.

I was just fortunate that I made a book sale through my
Amazon link.

So, why have a bunch of links when you have no traffic yet?

I would wait a while before putting too many affiliate links on your site too soon.

Also, if you don't have many posts, but lots of links on the posts you do have, Google does not really like it and it may take your posts longer to get indexed.

Maybe the best option is to wait until you have 25 or 30 posts before putting any affiliate links on your website.

Thanks for the suggestion of having 25-30 posts. I need to write more. Thanks

Charles - check out this training on installing different themes and customizing your site: Most affiliate programs will be assessing your website based on its appearance, age, the volume and quality of your (original) content, and most importantly - traffic. So take take those factors into consideration when you consider the timing of your applications to the programs.

Thanks for your insight it is greatly appreciated. I’ll check out your training suggestion. Have a great day!
