I want to do a niche around exploring the outdoors focusing on backpacking and such. I was wondering if anybody could give me tips on this niche and potentially if I should nar

Carson, I assume you are an ardent backpacker. What are your favorite trails? Where do you go? By yourself or with a few friends. I know a guy who goes off trail. What equipment? Do you do it in winter? Start with the narrower focus of your favorites. Broaden a bit as you yourself explore more backpacking trails etc
Barbara.

always better to broaden

Narrowing a niche is always good... You could do a bit of keyword research to narrow it so you can find areas that have low competition and high traffic. Then use google to find appropriate sites and monetize.

Your niche is already too broad so you will definitely want to narrow it. Maybe backpacking in the mountains, backpacking in America, backpacking in [enter state here], what you need to backpack [enter place/destination/region]... hope these ideas help :)

Start by looking at different websites. Here is a good example.
http://www.backpacker.com/

Thanks so much for that. It's nice to see a site in the same niche to get some inspiration.

Do you think that astronomy could be a profitable niche? I have a real passion for it, but am not sure how well it would do.

Astronomy is not too broad a niche. The monetizing opportunities in it are limited compared to others. making it a relatively smaller market for a vaster area of concentration. It is a wonderful niche for research and fun development. But how do you translate that to the buying public? Some books, telescope and astronomical instruments. Perhaps researching ideas for university symposiums. All wonderful but short of mainstream volume.
I too am interested in the area and I was advised find a more monetizing mainstream niche first THEN with income profitability pursue your passion.
More utilitarian elements that resonate beyond the fictional and theoretical are reserved for the far future when general public could relate.

good advice hun :-))

I think it could be really good :-)) Go for it hun

I think astronomy is a good niche.

All the best to you

A good Niche - my god the wonders of the universe!!!!

Anything that you have a real passion for is a good niche. If you enjoy what you do, what you write about, then it's not work. As for being profitable I'm sure there are lots of books and telescopes that you could write reviews about.

Get me, Pluto, back as a planet and I will buy something!!

Love it Teddy!

Think about it Teddy. Where did the Goldilocks Zone for exoplanet habitability come from?

For real, If I can recruit the inhabitants of the over 100 planets now to WA I will be rich and change my username to "Kepler Bear." Lol

Or Gliese bear LOL

I wonder how many people actually understand us, Michael?

We haven't even gotten to Ursa Major yet!

I know, Yet those crazy Orks are all around us.

On a serious note, the fact that our sun has a twin and that there is a 9th planet that has an orbit of around 20,000 years that we have located far beyond Pluto, that poop amazes me.

How can people think there is no God?

The universe shouts it but Satanically inspired secular division derides it. enough before my comment gets taken off line. LOL

We need to talk sometimes. I knew you were deep, but now we must have a coffee sometimes and philosophy and religion are definitely on the table.

I am SOOOO FREAKING impressed.

Aaah Teddy. you know the forum.

Yes, too well.

I would consider Astronomy too broad a niche. Search for a sub-niche with a little less competition.

You can go after it but here are the keyword tool results
astronomy searches 40910 Traffic 6955 QSR 428

Huge traffic but way too much competition, very hard to rank.

Cheers Kev

Yeah, I'd definitely focus on something way more specific. I was just wondering if Astronomy in general could be profitable.

Of course, you can money if you do your research, spend time building a business plan and marketing strategy.
If I can help don't hesitate to give me a call.
Wish you the very best with your business
Cheers Kev

Most people say you can build a profitable website in 'any niche'. If you work hard and are creative enough, you will succeed.
Barry

As far as I'm aware, anything you have an interest in can be profitable, just do plenty of research on your niche, find out what astronomer conumbers are buying up these dayservices and research good products to recommend, good luck in your venture cdwo, you can achieve anything you wishould, just research and work hard

Reading that probably made zero sense, but do you think I'd be able to build out an authority site better focusing on cameras in general or like a specific type such as DSLR or

how are you doing hun, any decisions? xoox

Well now I'm also thinking of doing a website around gaming for my second website. So I guess I'm back to square one haha. We'll see though.

Try to sort the first one out before you jump to a second you could end up doing to much at first.....the second one will alway be there (buy the name to secure it if you want to but start getting the first one up and running and learn from it so you can apply to the second one hun, there is sooooo much to do xoxoxo keep me posted and if you need me just shout xoxo

I agree. Two sites may be good. I would maybe do one on DSLR and the other on general. Or you could do the history of the camera on a site and review the different kinds from the past. Or you can compare different cameras that are used now. There are a lot of possibilities. It depends upon your audience and what you want to teach that audience. Are you going for the history buffs or the young adults. Are you trying to show the differences between what was and what is now. Or how about what the different cameras are best for what type of pictures. Or maybe where to get the best deals on a camera and what to look for in a camera. These are all useful information. Another idea is how to use your camera. Or what features for a particular camera, comparing and contrasting camera styles, features, or usefulness in today's world or in yesterday's world. What camera would someone pick for pictures vs for vacation or what type of How each would require a different camera. All sorts of different things could be a apart of your niche.

You have a good point. Maybe I should focus on a specific type of camera with all of the other things you mentioned, especially for if it is for more professional photographing or vacation.

If you are exclusive to a specific brand you will sell more. The reason is people that are looking for a specific brand are looking to buy, while the cover everything idea is for surfers and not necessarily for seekers.

Good point

Thank you.

I would create two sites, one specialising and the other general and have links between the two, you will probably be able to cast a wider net with two. My two cents worth

Thanks for the imput. I will consider that before creating my site.

I'm beginning to think that something is wrong with my All in one SEO plug in. When I found one of my pages on Google, the description and title were really screwed up. The des

Was that at one point your title for that post? If so, it may be showing like this versus your larger title simply because it has not been reindexed yet. Google can sometimes index titles in a way they like as well, just because you set the description and title, doesn't mean that will be the exact title and description.

It wasn't, but I figured out that it was just a temporary issue on Googles part, not mine, because it fixed itself.

Here is a screenshot on google page 2. Not sure what the problem is. looks like your online wealth market review.
