The Marshmallow Test and Success
Just a short little post today. I was reading my email earlier and I got reminded of a study we learned about in school.
The Marshmallow Test.
So the study was done in 1972 by a psychologist Walter Mischel. This was a study on DELAYED GRATIFIFICATION. It was nicknamed the marshmallow test because that was one of the rewards.
The participants all children where offered a choice between ONE small immediate reward, or getting TWO rewards if they could hold off and wait for at least 15 minutes.
So after several different studies using the same 1 immediate or 2 later rewards. Instant gratification or Delayed gratification. What the researchers found was that the children who were able and willing to wait for better rewards tended to have better life outcomes. Better SAT scores,better body mass indexes ( they were healthier overall) and better life successes.
The Marshmallow Test and Affiliate Marketers
Here is the observation of success and failure within affiliate marketing.The ones who almost always fail are the ones looking for the get rich fast path. The mental attitude of Instant Gratification. They want thier one marshmallow NOW!
The ones that have FOCUS,DISCIPLINE and CONSISTENCY to stick with it to learn and MASTER the skill. Those are the ones who will achieve millionaire success status.They are the ones who have the mental fortitude to DELAY gratification.
Wealthy Affiliate teaches this to us on this platform. In the training you will even come across phrases such as CLEAR VISION of what you want. Knowing your WHY. Writing down clearly what you want and putting goals on paper.
Do you have the ability and FOCUS to learn and delay gratification? Because if you do then your reward is going to be much more than just a few extra marshmallows. Your reward is going to be freedom. Financial freedom yes - Time freedom yes
How many marshmallows are going to get ? One instantly or ......

Delayed gratification is an interesting concept. I’m all for it and I think it makes you more determined to ensure that things work as planned.
