Don't Get Ahead Of Yourself!
From my experience here so far I have found that you can get a bit overwhelmed if you start trying to implement too many ideas into your site before it's ready. I try to stick with my lessons and only do what I am being taught to do but sometimes I find myself drifting off course and following others. Only to realize I just wasn't ready to do this. The internet is full of tools to help us get our sites ranked high in search engines so I have been relying on the experience of other members here to know what ones to use. The problem I am having is that I just don't understand how most of them work and have spent a lot of time trying to figure it out. By doing this my site is suffering from not enough content being added. When I run some of the tests for my sites using these tools my results are far from being good and this can get depressing being all the work I put into it.
I would like to know if this is a common problem or am I just missing something here? Should I be more worried about understanding how to read all the statistics from these tools and work on making my site better or should I just keep writing content and do my lessons?
Thanks for reading this post, I hope to get some insight from your comments.
Happy Holiday,

Hi Cat,
I know that feeling, anxious to know how you rank in google.
Google analytics is necessary to help you increase your rank, but it's a new site, there has to be something there for Google to analyze. I think it's best to follow the course structure and if you do any extra work add content. You're doing great, don't let yourself end up frustrated by going off in too many directions.
Cathy, Lost more time trying to fiddle with something because "I can do this" when if I just stuck to a little more training I would have found a much simpler way. Just my independent streak running rampant again.
Barbara
Take your training a step-at-a-time, and don't worry. Keep on writing. Keep a journal of the tools for future reference. :)
Join the crowd....lol.....I'm beginning to believe that it's part of the learning process. What I have done in the past is; if I've gone too far out.....back up and table whatever it is until I have more experience or knowledge. I am always jotting down what I'd like to do....be it a thought for aesthetics or methods/plugins and then research the heck out of it before 'doing' anything. Some plugins aren't compatible with your theme or each other....big problem. Some great coding ideas for looks mess up everything else....I've had some real 'fun'....ugh. It shows you are a very creative and striving to have everything running at its 'peak'. Kudos to you!
Mix your learning with progressive feedback as you go and settle on a comfortable pace. Don't rush yourself \. It will come!
Good questions! I have not come up with content in the last month at all like I should because I'm getting or giving feedback on others' sites to help boost my rankings on WA and to make the line "blue" that says MY website is looking pretty good - but I haven't put content on my site or done any new lessons in about 3 weeks - so I'm not moving forward like I should at all. I'm scared that MY site isn't interesting enough for others to want to buy on or buy from...... hope this post makes sense.....keep moving forward and doing your lessons - I'm hearing myself say those words to you so I SHOULD DO THE SAME THINGS!!
This help remind me very well, not to go too much, too far.
back to my own learning pace. step by step. Thanks for sharing.
Cathy, this is absolutely normal. You need to work at a pace with which you're comfortable. Even if you feel overwhelmed, don't put unnecessary pressure on yourself.
You're doing great!

Hi, Cathy, I don't know what the right answer is, I just know that when I started all I did was follow the lessons and do every task and when I wasn't doing that I just worried about my content and the only thing I was worrying about or asking was for Site Comments and Site feedback. The Site feedback helped me a lot in things I missed on my site. But worrying about all the analytical stuff, no if you have good content then I think your rankings and everything will improve. Best of luck, Cathy :)
Thanks for your reply. I'm just gonna stick with my lessons and not stress over the things I'm not ready to deal with.
