It seems to me that an IPad isn't enough equipment to do all of the things necessary to operate an online business. Would I be better off in anyway to use a laptop?

It wastes a lot of time trying to use an ipad, it is not impossible, but very time consuming, invest in a laptop at the very least or a PC.

In the end, yeah, you will waste time trying to be productive and creating content for a website on an iPad.

Still possible, but it's worth it to invest in a Windows (or even Mac) computer. Convertible laptop if you can afford it, or even a budget device or desktop box.

You can get some Tablet/Laptop hybrids as cheap as $400 or less on sale, or a traditional desktop for less than $300 (usu. without a monitor, though).

If you do decide to upgrade to a convertible or hybrid device, look up the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and other Ultrabook convertibles with the new Intel Core processors, touch screens, and solid-state or hybrid drives for much faster bootup speeds, launching programs and apps, and accessing large files.

Thank You for your answer, sir. It's just common sense in the end.

You're very welcome.

I bet you can guess I'm a big Windows fan...and not so much of Apple, eh? Oh well. I know Macs (Macbooks in particular) are very popular (and very pricy), and even Kyle uses a Mac...but to each their own.

In some ways Macs can be very great. Sure, Windows PC are more prone to viruses. Why? Mostly because they're much more popular and hackers write viruses to target the largest audience. Even Macs can get viruses, just not as often.

Also, Macs are built very well, using the best Intel CPUs. Some Windows PCs are built very cheaply by different manufacturers....but you get what you pay for.

I just like to point out that you can buy a Windows PC that uses the same core components as a given Mac for much cheaper.

However, the Mac vs. Windows battle will forever wage on.

(Unless the rumors are true and Apple decides to combine iOS and Mac OS X in the future...essentially making iPads the new Macbooks, then it's a whole new battlefield!)

It's still very possible using an iPad. You'll mostly use an internet browser--so Safari for the iPad. That should work. An image editor would also be helpful (does anyone know of any good image editor apps for the iPad? I think there might be a version of Adobe Photoshop for free--limited version).

I also recommend a Bluetooth keyboard to make it easy to type...and a kickstand or keyboard-folio combo to make it easier...and more like a laptop....or you could just buy the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It's much more than a tablet and more portable than a laptop :D

And no, I'm not an affiliate for Microsoft. I just don't like apple products: iOS products, rather. Macs are great, so are Macbooks, but it is admittedly more difficult to be productive on an iPad than a laptop.

A Windows 8.1 convertible ultrabook (tablet-laptop hybrid) would be great. Very portable, very fast, yet powerful and productive. If you're no a fan of Windows 8, keep in mind 8.1 is upgraded somewhat and Windows 10 will be released later this year and provide a much more keyboard-and-mouse friendly experience and still be great for touch devices. (Unfortunately Apple doesn't make a Mac with a touchscreen--just iPads, iPhones, and some iPods)

Still, you can be productive with an iPad--you just need some extra things...like a third-party keyboard, kickstand/folio, and apps.

Thank you for such an informative answer & the recommendations, lincolnquick.
