Law Of Attraction And Abundance - Day 12 - Measure Twice, Cut Once
My grandmother was a seamstress. She had a factory with one of her sons that supplied uniforms across the Caribbean, back in the 60s. She taught all her children and some of her grandchildren, including me, to sew.
She always said: "Measure twice, cut once." This lesson resonated with me this morning as I prepared to write this 12th blog post in the Law of Attraction and Abundance.
Measure Twice
The meaning of this is that there is more to be gained in the preparation work that you do. So often, there is the temptation to rush and speedily get things done.
Many members enter Wealthy Affiliate (WA) with a wanting for quick results especially given the flood of promotions for instant success. They find it difficult, amongst all the success that surrounds them in our community, to take their time and prepare for their own success.
The better prepared you are, the stronger your foundation, the higher you will go.
It also means that you will have to spend less time going back to fix things or worse yet, start over all together.
Take your time to learn!
Cut Once!
When you are sewing, the cut fabric could be lost money and wasted time and energy if you cut wrong. You cannot get it back to its original state and may not be able to use it for anything else.
Taking the time to measure, draft fit and measure again will mean that you do not waste and lose. Your cut is then ideal for the fit.
You have saved yourself time, energy, money and distress.
Preparation is Key in Your Online Business
The approach is no different when it comes to building your online business.
In your early days and months, do not rush. Take your time to learn, study, understand, try out first, ask questions, test.
be consistent with your practising. Write every day. Research every day. Do something for your online business every day.
In our 5X class with Kyle last night, he stressed the same thing. Prepare for your day, week and month. Know where you are and where you want to be.
Then, break it down to achievable bites.
May your day be filled with achievement and success.

I laughed when I saw that title. It was my Grandpa, a carpenter by trade who used to say that. So it spoke to me immediately. I'm also a certified seamstress so you got my attention with that one line.
I haven't heard that in a long time.
You are so right as computer scientists we also learn the importance of planning. Running as quickly as you can in the wrong direction is never the answer.
Careful, strategic planning can go a long way toward ensuring we achieve our goals. In business time is money so it's important that we make best use of it.

There is more to be gained in the preparation work that you do.
This is a great way to apply the expression "measure twice and cut once."
I have occasionally worked on and off in construction for most of my life since building or repairing things on the farm when I was a child.
Everyone said to measure twice and cut once, and we did. But I never really carried that expression further than the actual act of measuring and cutting something.
It is refreshing to see the expression turned into something that can be used for everything.

Good read- my takeaway from this post sends me back to cooking- having your own meals cooked by yourself is something else, it might take an hour or two but I have learned that it is more rewarding and fulfilling (and more often than not cheaper too)
