If You Don't Have TIME To Do It RIGHT The First Time . . .

DISCLAIMER:

I have been a member of our Wealthy Affiliate (WA) community for almost 2 years. Although we are taught Content & Affiliate Marketing here, that is not how I built a sustainable business model and earn a consistent 5-digit income.

During my 1st year and a half in WA, I carefully dissected the training and created an online services business. I am now leveraging that to build out the 2nd phase of my business which focuses on my Content & Affiliate Marketing model.

. . . When Will You Have Time To Do It Over?

There is a mistake that I see many of our members making regularly. Some members keep making it over and over again. Simply put it involves how you use your time. The relationship you develop with your time WILL determine your success.

It never ceases to amaze me that people always make time to do things over because they have not taken the time to get things right in the first place. Yes, I agree, mistakes will happen and we must make some provision for those times.

The challenge in understanding that I face is when you think that by short-circuiting a process or skipping through a training methodology you will achieve fast or sustainable results. It very rarely happens.

My Secret to Online Success in 1 Year

My secret is that there is no secret!

I did not rush the training. That is it! I followed the training as laid out by WA to the 'T'. Along the way, I did everything that I was told to do.

Even better than that, I went over parts of the training more than once. Sometimes I went over it 3 or 4 times, unashamedly. It was important for me to understand what I had to learn, how each element worked and connected.

It was because I took that time, in the beginning, to get things right and line up my ducks that I was able to pull out different parts and use them to start earning an income. That foundational understanding sparked a lot of ideas in my mind and helped me to see the cracks in the details.

As I identified cracks, I offered to help fix them. Some I did for free and some were revenue-generating. Then the referrals started to grow and soon my income started to grow and my engagements became bigger and better.

Your Time Is a Capital Investment

I do not view my time as an asset. On my online business accounting sheets, my time is costed as capital. It is a hard investment that I make in my business and pays me the highest interest.

To ensure that my returns are sustainable and worth my while, managing my assets and liabilities astutely means that I will realise much better returns on my (capital) investment.

Liabilities are my obligations to others and when viewed that way I know that I must manage how I "spend" my time. It is too valuable a commodity for me to simply waste it or use it inefficiently or ineffectively.

What Is The Value Of Your Time?

You know the fees you pay for WA membership but do you know how much your time is worth? Have you ever stopped to calculate, as we do in consulting, an hourly, daily or monthly rate for yourself?

If you haven't, I highly recommend that you do. The best way to get started is to know what your earning goal is for the year and work backwards.

These are my current rates which I will revise in January 2022, based on my earnings to date:

  • Monthly: $76,925.00
  • Daily: $ 3,850.00
  • Hourly: $ 650.00

When viewed this way, it helps you to stay focused on what is important and if necessary, to change your script.

Have a profitable week!

Thanks for the post. I am currently starting a new website and plan on going through the training again from the beginning to make sure I am doing it all step by step. Having training you can access at any time is a great feature of WA. Best of luck in the future.

It certainly is, Jason.

Thank you.
Cassi

Hi Cassi! I am happy that you are so driven and willing to share your "secrets" with us.

I am not as driven as you (especially about making money), but that doesn't mean there isn't something in what you write that I can learn or identify with.

I agree that the training is important and making sure you understand what you are doing will benefit you in the long run. And always be willing to listen to what others, who have been in it longer and have learned along the way, have to say.

Great post, Cassi!

Lynn

Lynn, we all have different "driving" factors and that is what makes life so colourful.
We can, as you have said so well, also learn from each other.

I return to our WA training regularly and learn something new each time.
It keeps me on my toes.

Thank you for sharing.

Cassi

Good morning Cassi,

Thank you for another excellent blog post, it's appreciated.

Time is something that I find really important and valuable, we only get so much given time, once! Something that really frustrates me is wasting valuable time, especially when I have so much to do.

I don't actually write down what my time is worth (maybe I should) but I do make a breakdown in my head. I tend to do this more with my offline business. For example, if a machine breaks down, I can quickly add up how much it's costing me. Not only for the repair bill but for the loss of income.

Wishing you the best and a great day.

Roy

Roy, I apply this costing to both online and offline and, every business that I am building.
It helps me to see what I am working towards and know when I have attained my objective.

Thank you for sharing.

Enjoy your day.
Cassi

Good morning Cassi,

I hear you, this makes a lot of sense, I will put it into action.

Have a great day.

Roy

Two important factors to take with us from your excellent article, Cassi;

- Do it properly the first time and the necessary time needed
- The value of our time in relation to our monetary goals

Rushing and shortcutting the training is like shooting yourself in the foot because you don´t know how to handle a gun....it looked so easy on YouTube..

I revisit the training in OEC quite often.

Roy

Roy, I love this:
"shooting yourself in the foot because you don´t know how to handle a gun"
So very true!

I remember when my Dad was teaching me to shoot, I spent months just disassembling and reassembling the gun.
It was frustrating!
I just wanted to shoot!!!

Then, as I started to fire the gun I realised that since I had a good relationship with it and understood all its parts, I was comfortable with it.
That allowed me to use and understand any gun that was handed to me.

A spot-on analogy!

Hoping that all is well with you also.

Cassi

Tough times at the moment, Cassi. Little time left during the day (and night) for my websites and online business, but hanging in there.

Roy

I fully get that, Roy.

The past few months were tough getting Zafirah through her exams and addressing client demands.
I am doing my best to make up for it all and gain some extra traction before the end of the year.

Hang in there . . . tightly.

Cassi

Thank you, Cassi. I can relate very well to what you say. Hang in there as well, Cassi.

I am not letting go of this opportunity, and am addressing my traffic issues with Partha's potion :-D, and a keen focus on my needle movers that will see to my success....i.e.content.

Roy
