I have played sports all my life. A few competitively. Although I have played in what may be described as team sports, (rugby and hockey for example), I enjoy playing in positions that demand strong individuality. Goal keeper for hockey comes to mind.

If you play sports you would know that keeping abreast of the game strategy is key. The strategy changes quickly and if you do not keep up you could be the reason that your team loses.

Your profession of Affiliate Marketing is no different. The game changes constantly - sometimes right before your eyes - and you have to keep up or you could get left behind.

Google Is Your Game

Yes, I know we have other Search Engines, but more often than not, Google proves that it defines your game. Google sets the standards and is always many steps ahead.

If you are a Newbie like me, I urge you to understand Google and what it brings to the table. You could end up playing the wrong game on the wrong field, wondering why no one is giving you any attention.

Research data tells us that over 5 billion people around the world now own a mobile device. Many own 2, perhaps a tablet and a smartphone.

These devices are constantly connected to the internet's world wide web resulting in some impactful changes to behaviours that we have ever seen.

Introducing Google Micro-Moments

Have you ever checked how many times you use your smartphone or mobile device during day? Well, according to research, it is more than 50 times!

Each time you use your mobile device you use it for an average of 70 seconds. And what do you do during that time?

You check messages, emails, respond to texts, listen to voice notes and voice mails, watch videos, go to Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest and . . .

… you search for information on Google!

Google describes these 70 seconds as Micro-Moments.

Micro-Moments have changed the rules of the game.

“I want to KNOW” moments:

Anytime you want to know how to do something, like “how to make a lasagna,” “how to dance the waltz,” or “how to sew a dress"

“I want to GO” moments:

This is when you want to know where something specific is nearby, such as “supermarkets,” “tyre repair shop,” or even “Italian restaurants near me”.

“I want to DO” moments:

When you want help to complete a task or you are looking for something new to do, like “download Michael Jackson videos,” or “lasagna recipes”.

“I want to BUY” moments:

Those times when you need help to make a purchase decision. Things like “best running shoes,” “gym pack,” “ribbons for curly hair”.

Micro-moments are shaping our lives, one answer at a time. They influence where you go. What you do, and most importantly, what you buy and what your consumers buy.

In short, micro-moments are completely transforming your business landscape and creating one of the BIGGEST opportunities for Affiliate Marketers like you . . and me.

Keep micro-moments in mind when you are using your smartphone and writing for your online business and visitors.

Absolutely Cassi!

"Keeping abreast of the game strategy is key" as you've so eloquently informed or reminded us.

Before I read this awesomely informative post of yours, I was completely unaware of the Googlesque term "Micro-Moments", so I really appreciate you bringing that to our attention here & now.

Long before the term "Micro-Moments" was coined, I've been utilizing its core concept known as "User Intent" in my keyword research & selection processes for years because a keen understanding of these concepts can mean the difference between attracting a lotta "LOOKY-LOUs" to your sites or driving highly relevant traffic consisting of PAYING CUSTOMERS who have the INTENT TO BUY (or do whatever you want them to do like complete an application, etc) right @ that moment.

This concept becomes even more crucial when you drive traffic to your websites via PPC or some other PAID traffic generation method in order to operate your online business with maximum advertising cost efficiency. So...

Bravo Cassi! Once again you've provided all of us who are fortunate enough to be within your sphere of influence with extremely valuable ACTIONABLE information that we can apply to our Internet marketing businesses right the heck now!

Gratefully & Respectfully Yours...
Charles

Charles, thank you for your in-depth feedback and additional information.
You took the time to read and digest the information and I truly appreciate that.

As you have indicated before, PPC and a lot of other PAID traffic generation are EXPENSIVE, to say the least.
So, as you have pointed out so succinctly, once we are able to identify our visitors' INTENT, we are in a better position to manage the outcome.

In designing my online business, I am implementing strategies for 2 visitor directions:
(a) visitor to buyer (customer/client)
(b) visitor to referrer (influencer)

So, ascertaining my visitor's INTENT from the go is critical for how I engage with them.

I appreciate your feedback and having you in my network.

Have a great week!

And I imagine I'm not alone in appreciating you & your contributions to the WA community Cassi!

With your diligently consistent methodical & analytical approach to growing your Internet Marketing business, supreme success for you is just a matter of time young Lady!

Thanks, take care, & see you @ the top!

Sincerely...
Charles

That definitely IS the goal, Charles. 😊

There is SO much to learn and research and play around with that I have to make use of my prioritisation and discipline skills regularly.

All good though and, our WA community certainly provides an environment that is conducive for growth and success.

Be safe and well.

That is one big Excellent Post Cassie. Google analytics and others say that is not the case, but I am more inclined to follow you on that because my eyes and my gut agree with it. Maybe not today but it won't be long in the future. Stop and think of the progress of the smartphone over the past 10 years and stop and try to comprehend the next 10 years. The smartphones have slowly been increasing in size with better everything. It won't be long and those analytics will start leaning in the favor of the smartphone.

Definitely, Edward!

So we need to be prepared.

Thank you for your insight and feedback.

Another great post with good advice. Easy to understand and follow. It should be obvious, but we are often stuck the with the same mind-set, not letting creativity to flow freely.

Thank you for helping us (at least me) pulling my head out of the sand 😆.

Roy, you are very welcome.
