Hey guys, I know that WA has some great protection for spam blockers and such as part of our membership, but I was wondering how many of you still put in a firewall like Wordfe
I use a plugin called Defender, as it is lightweight and fast. WordFence is good, but it is actually a very heavy plugin and will slow your website down.
Hey Chrystopher, I wanted to let you know that I took your advice and installed Defender just in case.
As Triblu said, we have great protection here at WA, but I still get spam in my email sometimes.
Because of it's lightweight structure and easy setup, I think defender is the best choice.
I considered using All-in-one Security because it has 3 levels for installation; Easy, Medium, and Hard. But it's still meant to be a comprehensive plugin, covering all security aspects, and I think it's too heavy, and the setup would take too long.
Defender let's you install a lot of it's features with just one click.
It's perfect for what I want to do!
Thanks for your help!
Thats great...ill keep this in mind in the event I would like to heighten the site security...
Thanks for sharing
Hey Frank, you're probably right, but I've been getting a fair bit of spam in my email for my original site. I don't mind installing a lightweight plugin if it helps keep my inbox less cluttered.
Know what I mean?
I transferred a site to WA that has Wordfence already installed.
I have no issues with slowing down or other interferences.
I was unable to add Wordfence to a newly created site because wordfence needs to change the php file. WA support told me I could not add WF for that reason.
I like Wordfence, and have used it for 4 or 5 yrs now.

Hey Stephan,
For my Wealthy Affiliate (WA) hosted websites, I do NOT need to use a firewall, as the WA hosting servers are very WELL protected, as Carson explained here: Websites at WA Even More Powerful and Secure than Ever! and the protection is continually updated.
For sites hosted elsewhere, I prefer Wordfence Security for its ease of use and strength in protecting sites.
Hope you find this helpful.

Hey Stephen,
Having been on the internet with domains since dial-up days, even when it was advised to buy all versions of a domain, I have NEVER done so.
Scammers will ALWAYS find away around gaining traffic from typos to main brands too, so, if you were to buy EVERYTHING, you'd be bankrupt in no time at all.
However, each to their own. This is only my take on this topic.
Hope you find this helpful.
Anyone can purchase the .net /.org for example and built a totally different site. However most people when they start typing, they are second natured to go for a .com first.
Hi AbieAJ,
Thanks so much. I wasn't sure how far to go with this, but I have a long term plan for this brand, and I do want to protect it.
It's my second time around working on the same niche. I made so many mistakes on my first site, that I think it will be easier for me to start over again from scratch.
Crazy, I know, but I think it's the right move.
Thank you once again.
Steven.

How advantageous is it to have the ability to update your Google News sitemap?

I have not found the need for upgrading and I think a lot of members will agree.
Further down the line when our efforts are generating a good sized income then it may be worth considering if the Pro version of any software will then speed up your income results or not.
For me if a paid for version doesn't directly return financial benefits then I don't need it.

Hey Kyle,
Google Adsense has rejected my application twice now.
Google doesn't specifically tell you why they turn you down. I would love to just go to my site a
If I remember correctly they check your traffic stats and amount of content. I would keep growing the site and reapply once you have some decent traffic. Google Adsense really doens't pay that much either so think twice if you even need it.
Hey Jukkah,
I applied to Infolinks, and got accepted.
Do I have to have Google Adsense to continue on through the tutorials at WA?
Is Google Analytics tied to Adsense, or are they different?
CashYoda7
I wouldn't reapply until you have 40 posts. They can be picky about too many affiliate links as well
Thanks Catherine.

No you need to have Google analytics on your website it counts how many visitors you have where they are arriving and where they're leaving. Later on it will allow you to work out how good or bad your conversions are. For now, I would ignore Google AdSense and continue with the training. For now tick it as complete
Hi - typical reasons are lack of content, copied content or no Privacy Policy or no Affiliate Disclosure.
Hey Diane,
I only have 12 posts so far. Is that considered lack of content?
I have a privacy policy and affiliate disclosure in place. I have also created original content.
I have lots of links going back to medical journals and stuff for reference. Could that be an issue?
Too many affiliate links?
Hi - yes, 12 posts aren't considered as very many unless they are bringing in daily traffic. Typically, they expect to see 20 to 30 posts.
OK. That must be it.
So I am following the formula in the WA training. It tells you to apply for Google Adsense in Level 3, Lesson 7.
Do most other people get accepted at that point? Why would Kyle tell us to apply if we don't have enough content?
This perplexes me....
Hi - unfortunately, I believe that it is mentioned too early in the training to apply for AdSense. I would imagine that most people don't meet the requirements. The same goes for Amazon, it is difficult to achieve their sales target until you have regular traffic.
I know, right?
I have an Amazon Associates account, but really, honestly, NOBODY is reading my blog posts.
It's like my site doesn't even exist.
Hi - it really is very early days. Just concentrate on adding more content as often as you can. Make sure your posts are a minimum of 1000 words and that you are only adding 1 affiliate link for every 500 words.
Really?
When Kyle did his example video, he put 5 links in one article. I thought that was a bit high, but he said that should be OK.
I don't doubt what you are saying, it's just not lining up with the video tutorial, so I am a bit surprised.
OK... But more content is the key anyway.
And 1000 words or more.
Thanks Diane.
