Paying it Forward at WA!
Today we will be releasing some updates to the way that member rank works at Wealthy Affiliate. We're excited about these changes and we think they are going to further make rank at WA more accurately show how active, engaged, and helpful folks are.
Pay it Forward
This is a phrase that Kyle and I adopted from square one at Wealthy Affiliate. Way back in 2005 when we started WA and saw the need for an interactive community to teach Online Business, we started to "Pay it Forward" and build this into the roots of what WA is.
Paying it forward simply means that you will get help, get your questions answered, and have others lend a hand whenever they can. In turn, you will then have some answers that you can help others with when they have questions. Helping one another is another way to look at it!
Our update today with regards to ranking and working towards ambassadorship takes into consideration how you pay it forward. Do you reply to people who have questions or are looking for feedback? Have you passed along any information that you learned from someone else? These are the kinds of things that are now taken into consideration within your WA Rank.
Helpful means being Well Rounded Too!
Being "well rounded" means you are paying it forward across the spectrum of communication platforms in WA. Helping someone out when they have questions, in live chat, on WA blogs, in classroom discussions etc. There are many ways to pay it forward and we consider this within the latest update.
90% of questions at Wealthy Affiliate get answered, and although that is incredible, it's still not good enough. Everyone deserves an answer and we are building the technology so that questions can be found and answered more quickly. As such, response time plays an important role in the latest update.
When it comes to training, we continue the trend of Paying it Forward and Rankings. If you have something that you want to share with others that works for you, that's great and you are more than welcome to publish. We will continue to closely monitor training to make sure all training added to WA is helpful, easy to follow, and free of any promotions or links to external sites. Together we can contribute, evolve, and continue to be the most helpful community in the online business world!
What will happen to your Rank?
Your rank may go up, it may go down, or it may stay exactly the same. Your points may show more in one category and less in another and this fluctuation will happen now and in the future. Some aspects of our algorithm give more weight to certain metrics, and less to others. With every update we make you can expect to see fluctuation in your points. So, don't worry yourself about your "points". If you pay it forward and are well rounded in regards to being helpful, your WA rank will reflect that.
Everything that Kyle and I do at Wealthy Affiliate is designed and built with utmost quality in mind and will always focus on this. We strive to be the most helpful community, have the easiest to use platform, and in turn help members become the most educated, trained, and successful online business owners in the world.
This update follows these goals and will help to move the entire community in a positive and forward thinking direction.

I am thankful for the opportunity to create my own income. That is a life changer for me and my family. Also, thanks for the pay it forward part of WA. I really like passing on what I learn here and helping others.
Thanks also to all the members who give their time to helping others.
To tell you the truth I am quite new to network and SFI. I have learnt about computers
Quite recently from my daughters. I am still very new. to tell you frankly I am totally
addicted to SFI though I have not been able to earn a single penny. I am a person who does not give up easily and I will definitely try to earn soon. I am a retired old man and
I am not in the position to invest money at the moment. But may be soon.
I have very much liked your Pay it Forward and I am with you.
Thank you for considering me for your Program.

WA truly is a special place, it seems all these new updates are guiding us into a closer knit, supportive community and MAKES us WANT to help each other.
As the months that I've been a member here slip by, I feel a transition is taking place. You're managing to take a community of thousands of strangers (from everywhere in the world) and make us into a warm, inviting, safe, comfortable family and that's why so many of us love it here so much.
Thanks for keeping WA so original and unique. It's gotta feel great to be "the one and only" because there isn't another place like WA anywhere.
You guys are the best!
Patty :)
Cheers.

If it helps some people be more engaged in helping others with their experience, then that can only be a good thing.
For me personally, I just want to help when I can, and be helped when I need it - if that means my rank goes up or down, then that's a consequence. Either way (up or down), what you've both created, and what the community itself has nurtured and developed, is brilliant.
All the best to you both, and to everyone who helps make WA what it is.

Here is one I need help with.
I have always been a person to help someone if I have the knowledge to do so. After all that is the original goal of my niche content websites, to help people with information that I have that they may not know and can benefit from.
When I first arrived here in August I needed help with some problems I was having with building my website and I received that help from many members. Then when I would see other members asking the same questions I did, I would pass on that knowledge.
Paying it forward is just one of the many reasons why I love being here at WA.
thanx for the update. It's nice to be appreciated.
You know what's really great about this community...
It's all for One and One for All...
not like some memberships where you have to be on a team, and hope that you get support and that the team leaders and team members know what they're doing...
have a great day : )
One of the things I like best about WA is the exceptional way you and Kyle sequence the learning activities in small steps, making each one logical and meaningful. Every single lesson in the Certification Levels 1-4 are priceless to me. In addition to the ones you and Kyle have made, there are many other training posts written by other WA members. Unfortunately, these often get lost by the wayside because I don't know where to go to find them. Do you think there might be some way to put them all in the same place and index them by topic so we can easily find a helpful training lesson to share with the WA friend who is needing help? I know this would help me a lot to refresh what I learned but have unfortunately forgotten. I need to watch some over and over before they sink in.

I may not be of much help with some of the Internet marketing details (but I can help with some things) because there are others who are better than myself. If I am on the Live Chat and someone comes on, I do answer their questions and point them to the right resources. I'm more of a director of traffic than I am the magistrate.
There are other aspects of online business, including mindset and motivation. It's these things I get much deeper into and that of support when it comes to folks expressing their desire to transition from employment to entrepreneurship.
When I can really pull forward with my own achievement making better income online, I feel I will have more of the "license" to delve into the kind of details others that are making full-time income can.
For now, I do help with the basics if someone comes on with these kind of questions.
Once in a while I ask questions myself, but I usually try to figure things out myself first.
I struggle as an online marketer. Sometimes I feel like it's just not for me, but I also have my up-times. Small of an income I do get, It's been consistent since April.
I definitely feel good when I help someone and make that person happy. It is a reward in itself. I do it because I note that perhaps half the folks on here who write profiles about themselves express their disdain for employment and the constraint it imposes. It's my way of rooting for folks who come on here with the dream of replacing that drudgery with what they enjoy, and truly being an asset to humanity.
WA is not perfect, but nothing man made is. Albeit, when you take a good hard look at this platform, notice it constantly evolves. The one thing that doesn't happen here is stagnation. It was slow in its earlier years, but over time, it has gained so much momentum that updates are almost a daily thing.
Note that true entrepreneurs are never satisfied with what they build. That's why they are so well-known for innovation. It's why WA is number one for online business training and community. As I've noted throughout the time I've been here and seen it in the Forum, paying it forward. It's always been here.
Today I was in my Journal and looked up many of the old sites I used to be subscribed to in 2004. Almost all of them are gone today. One, "MyMoneyMakingIdeas," so hot back then, is still there, but it's empty and it's for sale. I still have all the old emails from that subscription. Some of these folks started during the pioneer days of marketing on the Internet cerca 1996, 1997, etc. Sad!
Take not just the knowledge of building campaigns with you, be sure to take WA's spirit with you as well into your own businesses and very likely, you will come out on top in your niches as well.
I love this idea. Kyle and Carson are great ambassadors of this industry
One thing I have found over the years is that when you can help someone, it pays you back in dividends. We all have something to learn, but we also have something to teach...but we all start somewhere. 11 years ago (probably just about today), I started my journey online and I know if I had the support of the awesome people here at WA at the time, I would have been able to speed my path to my goals drastically.
Thanks everyone for being YOU and I really do look forward to an exciting year ahead within the "community" here at WA!
