Re-evaluating Things and Progress Report

Hello, Community!

I have been very busy this week fighting with my website and WordPress trying to achieve my goal of getting images on all of the posts on my website by 1/15. As some of your know, I have had many challenges and asked many questions this week. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond to my SOSes!

In addition to being frustrated and stuck on Lesson 6 of the second course, I have been re-evaluating my time usage. I've come to the conclusion that I am spending too much time and energy trying to keep up with reading and responding to all of the posts within the community.

I am going to be less visible within the community and focus my time and energy completing the Certification courses instead. I will still be checking for messages and replies to my questions, but won't be commenting on posts like I usually do.

I have learned a lot by being active within the community, and made some special friends that I will be keeping in touch with, but the majority of my time is going to be spent completing the Certification classes and, of course, immersing myself in my niche, and writing content.

Although my progress has been slow and frustrating this week, I DO have a couple positive things to share with you.

Some of you are aware that I have been fussing about finding appropriate free images for my website because I don't want to portray glamorous, glitzy dancers. The message of my website is that ANYONE who can count to four or eight can dance, and I don't want to scare off the "normal" people with images of professional dancers.

I spent most of the day searching for free images of regular folks like you and me dancing. And I was successful. Now all I have to do is get them from my computer onto my website!

But my biggest accomplishment this week was that I found an image on SiteContent that portrays ballroom dancing shoes that I was able to get onto the post that I'm currently working on! I was so excited when I got that done. I think I need to make the image a bit smaller, and will have to work on that some later. But I'm basking in the glow of success at FINALLY having ONE image on my website, even though the page is not ready for publication yet!

"Great"! Its wonderful to see a site lit up by good imaging!

Congrats on that accomplishment! I have been fighting with images this week also.

Glad to have some company in my misery! Following you.

Hi! Carol,
You have progressed well so you become knowing how and what to do to move forward your adventure. So, your are succeeding - a few steps closer to the destined goal.

Glad to find some photos in SiteContents which collects loyalty-free pics from three sites and is good to use.

Best and in touch,

Chin

Hi, Chin. Yes, I have made progress, but I'm having difficulty with images. This, too, shall pass, and someday I'll laugh about all this!

Sometimes you do need to take a step back from the community to create time needed to apply what you have learnt. I think we all do it from time to time.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Thanks, Karen.

Right decision...

Hi Carol

I see you said about the images that need to be resized? Here's a post from DynamicDavid where he mentions a program that I've been using for many years, along with some image size tests that he has done. Hope that helps you with the resizing! The program is very easy, but if there's anything, please shout! ;-)

Wishing you all the best! ;-)
Sharlee

That's great! Thanks, Sharlee!

Ohhhhh, gonna miss you! Lol! Have a great time with it all though!

Wayne

Don't worry, Wayne, I'll still be around to pester you occasionally! I did say I've met some friends I'm planning to stay in touch with, ya know!

Well I didn't think Sundays could get any better! It could be my first blog, he's got a friend you know! Ha ha!

Have fun!

Wayne

Sounds like a James Taylor song! When you get your blog written, you can set it to music! Did you ever figure out your niche yet?

Oh that niche we we’re talking about! I will let you know as soon as I take the plunge, something has got to inspire me soon, surely. I am still relaxed at the moment. Blog and music sounds great.

Wayne

Do you know the James Taylor song "You've Got A Friend"? That's what I was referring to. I thought from something you had written the other day that you might be making promoting WA as your niche. Are you taking the bootcamp? I haven't, so don't really know if they use niches in that one or not.

I know that song very well, thank you. Yes awaiting Kyles response on the boot camp. I think nearly time to step up a notch. Let’s see how it evolves, I will keep you posted.

I will take a break now and walk the beach for an hour or so. The para sails are backwards and forwards but I’m just happy to watch from my living room. It’s probably only about 25 degrees so perfect for a stroll.

Many messages today?

Catch ya soon.

Wayne

Waay too many!

I'm jealous...haven't had a beach fix since I moved to the mountains from FL in 96! A lot of my friends here are snowbirds and go to FL in the winter.

I might be flying down to Orlando to visit them, then on to the beach later this winter. It's 11 degrees now, and I don't know what the chill factor is...maybe that trip should be sooner rather than later!

Toooooo Chilly!

You got that right. How was your stroll on the beach?

Whooo-hoooo! There's nothing like the taste of success, no matter how small the accomplishment! (It even tastes better than ice cream!) :-) LOL! I am so happy with you!

Well, with one image, you are 100% ahead of me in the game! ;-)

One baby step at a time - that is how everybody else started out as well! ;-)

And yes, you are right, I have set my kitchen timer here next to me last week and i was surprised to see how much of my time is spend on here, instead of in training. Like you say, it is lovely to meet and make new friends and help out, but if I was working for a company and accomplishing so little, I surely would have been called in for a talk down. [roll eyes] Oops!

We will eat an extra helping of ice cream to celebrate your victory! ;-) LOL! (Not that we need any excuses...) LOL! :-)

Sharlee

NOTHING'S BETTER THAN ICE CREAM, SHARLEE!

[wipe mouth] It was DELICIOUS! I'm so glad we could celebrate with you Carol! ;-) LOL!

Make mine Moose Tracks!

[thumb up] That's a deal Carol! A tub of "e-Moose Tracks" is on its way to you! ;-) LOL!
We don't get those in our corner of paradise (or I haven't seen them anyway), but then, I don't pretend to know all the types of ice cream, since we love our old favorites. ;-)
Chocolate + Vanilla IceCream ;-)

Where is your corner of Paradise, Sharlee?

Auckland (area), in New Zealand. ;-)

I could send you some real elk tracks, but no moose in the Smoky Mountains of NC!

Great plans, Carol. Keep it up. :)

Thanks, Gomer.

Good for you Carol! I hope someone here knows how to resize your images.

I'm not going to be gone, Jessica, and will still be asking questions! You can't get away from me that easily!
