Hi WA Community, I need your help.

I am trying to find a good domain. Is this data too competitive?

Avg: 3386 Traffic: 576 QSR: 52 SEO: 89 OR should I go lo

Really doesn't matter, I would lean toward the second!

Carol QSR of 0 is a clean slate. Excellent
QRS of. 52 is also excellent
I would go with the first choice over the second one. The both is okay based on your niche and keyword search.

Thanks for your input Louisa, I think so too.

A Domain name is not required to have lots of searches to make it good and it doesn't matter what competition it has. It can be anything you like. Sometimes it's helpful to have it say what the site is about, sometimes a catchy title or just your name is better.
But if you like these two and they are available. Go for the first.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Thanks for your response Karen, well appreciated

Hi Carol, Jay's training teaches the +100 -100 technique. The traffic must be over 100 (the more the merrier) and the QSR must be less than 100 ( the smaller the better) so I would say, your first example is good and the second not so good but could be a low hanging fruit with QSR 0.

Hope this helps

Bryanb

Thanks for shedding some light on this Bryan. I have been struggling with both. Your help is well appreciated.

It's not important to have keywords in a domain name. If it was important then Amazon would sell river cruises and Apple would sell fruit. And what the heck would Google sell?

That's a good one Marion lol. Thanks for your response.

Great question! Unfortunately, I do not know the correct answer but, I would like to follow the question to know the answer....

Thanks for your response Lakisha

You're welcome

Are you talking about your actual website domain name? If so then you don't need to worry too much about any of those numbers in my opinion. Those are important for the titles of your posts themselves.

A good domain name should be logical and easy to remember. Long names with abbreviations or strange words are not good. It is great if your domain has good scores but it is more important that your posts do.

So pick whichever one is shorter or more logical. Pick which one is easier to remember.

Jessica

Thanks for making this clearer for me, well appreciated.

Are links from other websites good? I notice that Google Analytics is showing a number of domains that have links to pages on my site. Is that a good thing? Could that be th

The 404's could be related to it yes. Doesn't have to be. In most cases it has to do with links that have changed within your WordPress content, such as images that changed name through the editor or posts that you have changed the permalink on.
One should never do that with permalinks, its best to use a 301 redirect for that. But that is out of the context of this question.

What I however have seen is spammy websites trying to link to my content with all sorts of weird characters and signs. They fabricated a couple of links on my website and linked towards it that way.

Links from other sites is good as long as the other sites are also good sites related to your content or niche.

The difference lies in where you find the 404.

Within Analytics this will come over as a 404 perhaps, but it shouldn't show up in Google Webmaster Tool / Google Search Console, because there you get only 404's of what the Google Search Bot came across as error pages.

Google Analytics 404s= content visited by visitors & bots
Google Search Console 404s= content visited by bots (followed through links by sitemap)

Steven

Thanks for responding Steven. I appreciate it. I am watching Marion's video to fix the 404s.

Those links are good things. Natural back links rather than purchased ones. As others have said the error 404 s will be totally unrelated.

Thanks for your response Karen. I was concerned about them being bad for my site. I am following Marion's video to fix the 404s.

Per Marion's reply looks like good news Carol!

Thanks for weighing in Michael, well appreciated

The 404s are probably not related

Thanks Marion, I am appreciate your help.

Internal links (links from one of your posts to another one of your posts) and external links (links from your post to another outside source, like Wikipedia) definitely boots your ranking, Carol.

If you haven't already, take some time to watch one of Jay's webinars that talk specifically about getting your post "SEO ready".

Thanks for your response Veronica. I watched that webinar and it's very informative. As a matter of fact, I am putting some of those strategies in place.

I'm glad to hear that you found Jay's video helpful, Carol.

You want to have links to your site from other sites. I'm not sure why that would give you a 404 though

Thanks for your response Kat. I was almost terrified to see so many links. Marion's video is great help for me to fix the 404s.
