My $750 Blessing - and the WA vehicle.

Yesterday morning I got up as in most mornings and after a few moments of quiet I logged onto Wealthy Affiliate; my new morning routine. Catching up on a few Private Messages and getting all my notifications current. Then clicking onto Live Chat to say hello.

That morning I caught up with Jackiex4, EverestB, and DaveAus, with a few others. It was my last day of work for the week and I rarely try to make it in early on Saturday so I chatted a little longer than usual. Who wants to go to work early on a Saturday? Isn't 5:30AM early enough? Waiting has been my habit for 18 years so why break it now? Those who have read my recent posts know I have a 5 year plan to break this Saturday waiting habit and retire early. Not wanting to go in early stayed much longer than a usual Saturday until all I could really do was hurry and drink my coffee as I prepared to run out the door.

When I got outside I was punched in the face by a -7 degree wind. (And it was much darker than you saw in the photo above) Remembering that I hadn't yet started my car I drudged down to the car, hands wrapped around my warm coffee cup that I forgot to place on the table on the way out. I was thankful I forgot and had it to keep my hands warm. The car door opened with a snap and a creek.

This morning I was taking my wife's Honda because the roads still had snow and my $750 junker-blessing, a junker van I bought just to get back and forth to work; my $750 junker-blessing has very bald on the edge tread and I try not to drive it on ice and snow. The Honda has Premium snow tires and handles quite nicely in the snow. It is a blast to drive actually. Not wanting to tax the engine I decided to sit in the cold car and let her warm up a bit. Sitting there shivering I Iogged onto Live Chat - just because I didn't want to sit alone in the cold. My last message to EverestB was "Gotta drive -TTYL - don't text and drive!". The car was still cold but I had run out of time.

Life is a lot like the morning I describe here. Life can be cold and hard. Unforgiving. The online world can be especially cold and dangerous. Everywhere you look there are scammer and spammers. IT is a wonder any of us have found Wealthy Affiliate. About half way to work the car had warmed enough that I could take my gloves off. Gloves that were cold when I put them on because they sat in the car all night. About the time I arrived at work 10 minutes or so after departure the car was just getting comfortable.

With this analogy of life many times things do not have to be as they are. I am not talking about the serious and painful things in the lives of some (I dare not speak to that in a brief blog); I am talking about every day uncomfortable things that we can choose affect.

Think of this. The online world is scary and cold; it is like the space outside of the this earth we spin on where there is neither warmth nor comfort. On a cold day like this you can feel the universe in your bones. The world, especially the online world, can be cold and unfeeling. Then you get into the warmth of a place like Wealthy Affiliate. If we take time to warm up to it, instead of just jumping in and racing to our destination, it can be quite fun to travel in. I warmed the oil in the car. And the sweet spirit of grace and gratitude that permeates this place is like oil to a cynical and suspicious-of-others soul. It certainly was for me. I am very thankful for that.

The gasoline in the car is like our desire to succeed online; it is the fuel that keeps us going. Our motivation. We want it for various reasons. Good reasons. And here those good reasons, the desire to help and bless others, are encouraged and promoted. But the gas is our fuel. It ignites and pushes the machine of the Wealthy Affiliate platform. We ride this beast of a machine through the winding and changing roads of the internet.

Wealthy Affiliate is not a race car. We are not meant to race to success in this vehicle. There is much more consideration of the time it takes to build a foundation for a lasting and sustainable business. It is not a race car. But it is not like my $750 blessing either. That car is paid for. It gets me where I want to go. But it rattles down the road and one of these days it will not get me to work, or home, whichever the case may be. Wealthy Affiliate is more like my reliable and easy to handle and steer Honda. It goes great in the snow. It is fun. I already mentioned it is reliable. As long as my suspension and steering remain teachable I am good to go. But if I am not careful, if I go too fast or don't follow the road I can end up in a ditch.

So many people don't follow the simple business plan that Kyle explains and end up off in a ditch. I have come close many times and had to stop, pull out the map, back track, and course correct. Perhaps we all have done that. But the trusty vehicle of Wealthy Affiliate, when used and handled aright, will get us to our goal. Not in ten minutes. Possibly within ten months. But it will get us there. We only need to keep a right heart about it (with a helping, sharing, and teachable attitude); We need to keep a right heart about it and keep our fuel, our desire, in tact.

We will get there.

You will get there.

I hope this analogy was not too 'out there' and abstract for you. It was profound to me as I drove through the cold, after just being in Live Chat, and thought about these things. I hope in some way this encouraged you. If not that's okay. It is a very abstract analogy. I may not be blogging again for a while as I want to work on some newbie training to help here on the platform. I think it would be good to have some basic navigation understanding before Starter members start on their own journey to affiliate commissions.

I would love to read your comments about this or about the coming training.
Talk to me. It is the only way I will know that you read this and what you thought about it.

Happy journeying friend. Keep it on the road. Drive safe.

Kind regards,

Carl

Thanks for the great post, Carl! I'm glad you've weathered the snow storm. I was a bit like the SUV along the side of the snow-packed road recently. With theme issues, I needed expert input, so I asked, applied suggestions, and continued to press forward to tackle those challenges.

My take away...what we learn through other members (who offer us WA roadside assistance) as issues arise with our sites and themes broadens the depth of our training here. For that, I'm grateful. :)

I am absolutely grateful also! Thank you Colleen

I agree with you. In the past, I have been way too concerned with how things look on my site and trying to get everything just perfect. I would get so sidetracked on the little stuff.

Now I am just focusing on quality content. I can always make it look "pretty" later. I think that has been a big eye-opener for me.

Reading posts like and have really helped me get along with clicking "publish".

Thank you Steve. I will read Jorn and Marion's posts. Thanks.

Carl, this is a great analogy. I really enjoyed your post and agree with you. My progress feels like your $750 blessing at the moment, but it's going to turn into that race car if I stay out of the ditch! I am slow and steady, but getting impatient to learn more faster. But I don't want to rush and not master what I'm learning. So I keep plugging along! Carol

Yes study to mastery then you'll be well equips to teach others also. :0) Of course we CAN teach the things we know already. That's the willingness part of this community. It's amazing! Thank you Carol.

It truly is amazing, Carl.

Carl,

Thank you for sharing. I was especially drawn to your fuel analogy creating a burning desire. You also touched on attaching a purpose to that desire and I am a big believer in purpose creating drive. In the time of the year when most have set resolutions fueled by desire that often runs out of juice before the first half is over, do you think that fuel can burn year round and long enough without attaching a purpose to it?

It rarely happens. But here we are motivated daily by the great community and that desire is refueled by success stories and challenges from the others here. It's more likely here.

Wonderful story Carl. I have a remote starter on my car, works well unless I forget to turn up the fan and the heat.

New training geared to the new members will be well received.
When I have in chat (not often enough) some of the questions can

Have a super week Carl

You also Cowboy. Have a super week! And thank you.

Hi there
well done
great story and thanks for the lessons therein
I agree, we have it all here at WA.
just follow the training and we should get there ( stay on the right track )
Its a long term plan as you rightly pointed out at the top of your post
Cheers PB

Absolutely! Thank you Phil.

Hey Carl, nice post.. that's some writing talent -if i may say so....I really heard the crack and creak of the car door opening...perhaps partly due to my own frosty experiences back in the UK! hehe...

The analogy is a sound one...it's a marathon not a sprint, and patience and persistence pays off in the end!

Thanks Dave. That's very kind. I hear it every morning! Lol

This is my early morning read and I feel blessed to land on it. Thank you very much Carl for this post. I'm in my first week at WA and surely this article is the great help for me. I still pinching myself that I'm not dreaming being here. It is a jungle out there in the online world but I landed safely here.
God bless you and thank you again

I am very glad it was a blessing and help. You're always welcome. Kind regards to you Babacar.

Hi Carl

Nice analogy. The same as "cash is king" goes for vehicles that are fully paid and owned. (A vehicle that still belongs to the bank is not yet owned - in our opinion.)

And fully agree about this wonderful WA family too!

May you enjoy a lovely day!
Chocolate + Vanilla IceCream

Thank you Mrs. C. You also.

Awesome post Carl! I have been here for a little over 6 months and I have been staying consistent every since joining!

If there is anything I can guarantee, it is that I will not be slowing down anytime soon!

And if there is anything that I have learned with making a living online, it definitely does not come fast, especially when compared to the typical 9-5 universe.

It is all about staying consistent and being patient!

Exactly. Planning, Consistency, Patience, and Diligence.
