FAQs and Baby Steps at WA
Hello WA friends,
You know I am getting so familiar with so many of you that I want to say WA family but I am not there yet. Give me time. But think about new additions to the family in relation to WA for a minute.
We all had to take baby steps in the beginning.
Some learn to run quite quickly but we all had to start with no knowledge of how to get around here. Unsure where it is appropriate to ask questions and jumping right into live chat or posting multiple questions on the question scroll.
Personally I am a helper by nature so I want to jump right in at the first sign of anyone needing help. That's good but also unproductive at times. I have learned to pause -- watch the ticker in Live Chat -- and inevitably someone else who might not jump in right away answers the question. Usually with more information than I can provide.
Baby steps: Newbies do not know that a red arrow next to Live Chat on their screen means that someone has responded to them directly. Newbies do not know that a green arrow means that someone just posted a question there that has not been answered yet. The do not know that when the globe lights up green at the upper right that someone has followed them or responded to them or commented on their wall. They do not know that they can define what they get there for notifications. They do not know that they can control even what they get for email notifications from WA. They do not know that when the envelop at the upper right is red that there is a message in there inbox. Most do not know that until they are Premium members they cannot PM or receive PMs. Newbies do not understand any of this but they catch on quickly. Most do not even know where to begin by clicking the green Get Started Here button to the left. But if they are reading this they do now.
Let me be one of the first to say "Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate!"
If there is anything I can help you with here please let me know.
Because they are new they have many frequently asked questions (FAQs)
FAQs:
How long until I make money here? It depends on the work you do online and the answer will vary for each member. Some very quickly other it takes longer. Some never follow the lesson tasks and do not get very far at all. Others are making a full time income.
Do I need money to do this? The starter membership provides everything you need. But the Premium membership provides so much more. It is kind of like LinkedIn that respect. I have had a starter membership there for years but never upgraded to Premium. I may be missing out because it seems that they have an affiliate program through Lydia or Lynda, their learning platform. But here at WA even a starter member can earn referral commission.
How do I get started? Probably the most frequent. And the easiest to answer --- click the Green Get Started Here tab at the upper left.
My tendency is to jump right in when someone is struggling but I have come to realize that everyone struggles at some level at first. But they catch on fast. Once they begin to take their first steps they are off and running. Most of the time. Some need a little extra help and care. I would hope that whoever is getting the referral commissions for leading them here will take the time. But if I can help let me know.
Either way we're all here to help.
Hope this helps someone.
Kind regards always,
Carl

Baby steps are okay and are important as they gets us that much closer to attaining our goals. Thanks for being a helpful part of the wonderful community Carl.

Jerome it has been work for me to NOT be part of the helping community. I have had to figure a way to 'block' notifications while working and define times that I will help. Thank you for your comment and encouragement.
Carl, that is a great summary of what we face in the early going. I am grateful for those who have helped me and hope to be a helper as I master this. I thank you for your many contributions.
Success always.

Thank you so much Joe --- I am loving this community helping concept. Perhaps too much --- my websites are slow going. But faster since I have pulled away from here consistently enough to actually work on them.
