I've just completed my 3 additional themed pages, placed them in the order I want, but have no "Manage Locations" button to make sure it's arranged properly on my website page.

And Chris, you were right on the money with this one! I did have to find another theme and redo a few things....but that's okay...things are working great now! Thanks so much for your input!!

No problem at all. Glad things are running smoothly now. Can't wait to see the new site!

Thanks all for all the feedback! I did end up having to change the theme (which took a while to find another one that would work properly) but now things are going smoothly!

Thanks again everyone for all the great advice! Much appreciated! :)

I had a similar, but when I changed my theme. My problems disappeared. Cindy

Thank you! I'll try them! :)

There are several training videos and tutorials that should help sort it out. Type "custom menus" in to the bar the top

Heya,

I'm not sure what you mean by "Manage Locations". I've never seen an option like this before.

If you are trying to arrange the pages to how they show up in the menu. You goto appearance > Menus .

You can drag and drop to re-order them.

If they are not on the menu yet. You can select the pages you want from the box on the left then press "add to menu".

Make sure you save the menu to for your changes to show up.

Hope this helps.

And that's exactly what I did...the menu is saved, but when I look at my website, they are not in the order I arranged...confused..

That is really odd. You shouldn't need the manage locations tab you are talking about though. I see it now in my WordPress but have never used it.

If deleting the menu and re-doing it doesn't fix it. It may be a theme related issue or possibly even a plug-in one if you have installed any extra plug-ins.

I think you may have found the problem! This is what it says, "Your theme does not natively support menus, but you can use them in sidebars by adding a “Custom Menu” widget on the Widgets screen."
However, it's gonna take me a while to figure that all out..hate being technologically challenged!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

I just looked up the theme you were using and the last time it was updated was 2009.

I would honestly recommend looking into a new theme or you may risk running into more problems down the road.

All themes should support at least one menu.

I know it stinks. Especially after you found that one theme you really like.

Oh boy, and that one was perfect for my theme! :(
But having issues like this is no fun, especially for something fairly simple as a menu...thanks so much for the help!! At least now I know what the problem is. I figured it was just me, haha

So I should be looking for a theme that is current in their updates? I had no idea...bummer..

It has definitely messed me up before. I typically try to find a theme that has a little bit of a following or at least has been around for a bit and have seen updates.

Same with plug-ins.

Also keep in mind you may not want to always update WordPress right away when there is a new update. You have to always keep in mind your plug-ins and theme.

That is one reason I also try to use minimal plug-ins. Less to keep up with. Things just come and go all the time. Don't want to get use to using something that may not be there tomorrow.

if you are trying to order your pages within the menu go to dashboard/appearance/menus
add or delete pages and/or posts to the menu, then drag them to where you want them to appear (order wise) sub pages are created by dragging to an indented position...
hit save, and you are done

I did follow those steps and still no luck with them being in order on my webpage..boo..

Hi Marci,

Just checking, are you looking at the top of your dashboard towards the left? Manage Locations is next to Edit Menus.

Yes, just Edit Menus is there..weird, right?

I'm trying to think what it might be. Have you clicked 'save menu'? Possibly 'manage locations' doesn't appear until you create and save a menu.
I can't remember if that happened with me or not.

Yep, did that too...all the pages are there, just not in the right order since I don't seem to have a bloody 'manage locations' button

I might be misunderstanding you, but you don't sort the order of pages in Manage Locations. You do that in edit menus. Click on a page title in the menu list and then drag it to where you want it to go.

I think I've figured it out, I hope.
Do you have a button that says 'Create Menu'?
If so click that and save menu then 'Manage Locations' hopefully should appear.

Seems I've done all that too, haha...I think maybe I'll delete and start over on this...thanks so much for all the feedback!!

Sorry Marci, I had to go out after that last post. If you need help with the same problem (unless you've resolved it) please just ask :-)
