Mobile Sound Studio at KessAudio

Well, I have been promising an update on my little project of changing my little home on wheels into a mobile recording studio, while still being able to use it as an office space, have the kitchen function as a kitchen, and of course the bedroom and bathroom areas useable yet not part of the studio when I want to use is for such.

I got this 32 foot, 10 meter long RV trailer over a year and a half ago, It was stripped out on the inside, stove, fridge, most all of the 12 volt lights gone, the fan over the stove that had all the controls for the battery charge, blank tank, gray tank and fresh water tank levels was also removed.

And the wiring for the running lights, tail lights were all destroyed under the couch area where those were housed in the trailer. The couch was awful so that sucker got tossed out fast, then I got after the repairs needed to get the lights operational so I could tow it. Once that was done I got her legal, and moved it.

Then I worked on the floor heater, it was a no go, this thing was built in 1988 so no surprise there. Once I removed that unit, I replaced the water lines coming into the unit, and repaired all the non-functioning pluming.

I framed out area where the couch was, for that is where my sound board is going to go, then I was on the road for darn near 5 months. When I got back, this is what I came home to.

Not so much fun to come home to a grip of a mess and work, yet all I could do at this point was unpack, wash laudry, pack up my ice chest and clothes, head out to King of the Hammers for the next two weeks.

This was my last pic of my hotel room in San Francisco two days before.

That is a good beer, poor maids would haul out a case of empties every few days it seemed like, Haha, just messing. I would haul my own empires down 8 floors to their recycling cart.

The kitchenette area I removed and I put in a little desk I found at a yard sale for a really great price, get it out of here and its yours. So I cleaned her up good, make use of it.

So,two weeks later I took myself off schedule for 5 days and started on getting rid of that nasty carpet. But first I had a day of cleaning up before me.

I found some nice pine flooring at our local hardware store that I really liked, I wanted a light color on the floor for the walls are going to be black, and with some LED lighting around the edge of the floor when I finualy complete the whole project will make it easy to find once's way around in low light. So this pine flooring just jumped into my cart, was perfect for what I want to create in here.

It's getting better and better yet I still was not happy here, I got to thinking the office would be much better across From where I built the angle stand for my sound board, so out comes the little floor and wall cabinet at the bottom right of the photo here.

and here we are, with that area open now, the only intrusion is the wheel well just past the window on the left. So, now I am going to wall in the window using plywood.

How do you like my little Friend on the wall there, Blackie? Love that Japanish early 80s rocker, she sound sweet.

And there we are, walled in and desk top installed, I used one inch sub flooring plywood for the desk top so I would not need to fame out a leg and the open corner there. Now the fun begins.

Now she is an useable area where I can create and feel cozy, Yes that is an old MacBook on the far left there, use her every morning for my meditations. Got my 50 inch 4K TV as my monitor and my studio monitors fit in very cozy here.

Her is our local and super friendly goofball, Luna. She is trying to talk me out of a snack. Her Ma and Pa were on Vacation so she hung out with me.

Now the kitchen area in here is much more logical, at least for me anyhow. Still not for sure if I am going to keep that Monitor where it is, but for now makes the most sense there.

Ah, good ol blue, she loves the blues.

Speaking of Blues, here is Samatha Fox belting out some wonderful tunes Via YouTube. Got sent a link to DJ Scottie,

I now have curtains at both ends so I can close off the back of my little home on wheels, slash mobile studio and office and at the kitchen area also. I am removing cabinet doors, found some sweet ebony stain for them. I also have some purple and black sound insulation foam coming that I am installing on the ceiling and walls in the studio area. I am hoping the curtains will do a decent job of helping keep the sound from bouncing all over the place. For podcasting it Should work fairly well.

Sound board is working great for me, found an old black light and mini par can LED light for my little area. Starting to really feel creative in here now for sure.

I am no big fan of Monster energy drink but I get free swag from them all the time. I simply put on my red bull shirt when I help load in bands on their stage, and I get a free shirt pretty darn quick. That swag hangin on the wall I got from the MadMudders event I was contracted for a few years back.

There we are folks, still a bit more to go, but she is functioning as I envisioned and it feels really good to work and play in there, even in the limited amount of room I have. Feels good to be able to work through my creativity to help me create something else.

Laters Gators,

Wow, I'm really blown away, Scott! You're set up to do pretty much anything with audio-visual!

The acoustic foam and curtains should work together fine.

Keep on building-out your mobile studio and play guitar whenever you get the chance! 👍👍

Frank 🎸

I got the old Japanese rocker hanging on the wall behind right now next to the soundboard just eager for me to play her anytime I want.

Still waiting on Amazon to deliver them sound panels, but they sent them USPS and we are in the boonies, so they do not deliver out here, just a bunch of boxes about 2 miles from here. See what happens.

You’ll get ‘EM and your studio is going to be beyond awesome, Scott! 👍

Keep on playing the guitar every chance you get! 😊🎸

Such an amazing transformation.
You did a fantastic job, Scott.

Thank you for your kind words. It has been a fun project, wish I had the money and time to get it done sooner, but it is mine and I get to play in here. Now to put in my new office chair.

I'm speechless! You did an excellent job!

You really have a vision for transforming small spaces. I could see you doing one of those make over reality shows haha!!

If the music, podcasts, and content you create in there is anywhere near as creative as your little studio, you'll have no trouble what so ever realizing your dream. Keep up the great work!

Best, Shan

I love building things, started by stealing plywood and 2x4s as a teen and building tree forts, fish tank stand, rebuilding bikes.

I hate how they build the dinnets and kitchens back then, no real way to cook and clean at the same time.

And that office area now is awesome, love it in there in the morning, bit hot when I get home from work, takes the swamp cooler about 20 minutes to cool the place down.

Now to find the photos of cooking eggs in the Zamboni for ya. Lol.

lol I eagerly wait haha

Your gonna roll your eyes, I am sure. but at least not as bad as when I was cooking potatoes as a little boy in the trash fire and got caught, gosh them women went bonkers about that. Shesh I was cooking taters in there twice a week for like two months, I was good. Hahaha. Had I caught my kid doing that, oh man it would be bad. Anyway.

That's an awesome rig that you converted into the mobile office/ studio, Scott! Well done, indeed, Zam Man!

Jeff

Thanks Jeffery, with the swamp cooler I installed in the back this little place is wonderful place to hang out. You think Luna and the blog dogs would like to hang out together? Haha.

They might, but I think the Blog Dogs would drive Luna Looney!

Love that Man cave / Studio on wheels, my friend!

Jeff

Hahaha, maybe, Luna has that three billy goats she runs laps around every day, and now she had a new piglet to play with, and oh do those two play.

I'll bet that they do, Scott!

Jeff

You sure know how to create media studios. Doing it in a mobile environment takes the cake. Thanks for sharing various stages of the build process Scott. The finished result is unbelievable.

Enjoy it to the max.

Edwin

It is a great place to hang out when I get home, and early in the morning for sure.

Thanks for the comment and stopping by.
