Live from the Top floor of the Grand Wizards Zam Condo.

Good morning ya all, well it is morning for me as I write this. And that is a morning shot there on my Zamboini tent, a 15 foot by 15-foot tent with walls. And 100 amps of power so plenty of electricity to power up my mobile kitchen, recharge the Zamboni's, heat up the water in the water tanks on both Zamboni's, and even have some festive lighting on her so she looks good!

This is a view from the ice rink-side of her, Harry Potter is paying big bucks to use my Zam tent and makes it look cool, so now I added the Grand Wizard title to her. The Macy's big ol Christmas tree is behind my area, thus becoming a tourist trap, that whole area outside of my barricades fills up with people speaking many different languages, taking selfies and pictures of their children, wives, husbands, and the such. When I have the time I offer to take photos for them with the tree in the background. However, on the other end of that, I have to get in and out of there to go check on my chiller machine out on the street. Gets really interesting getting in and out of there. So I am happy to open the ice rink and get out of there by dinner time.

Here is a view of the same area with one of my Zamboni's parked outside. I hole I cut in the floor of this area to help get the water off the ice rink for when it rains. Last time I did not do this and the water came inside my tent, not something I want to repeat. However, nothing but sunshine and rainbows so far so I have not had to test out how well those holes work. I have learned a lot over the years of doing this, for example, you can see the spray bottle and rubber gloves on the little shelf I made and my whiteboard. Whiteboard is for notes, or words of encouragement, the sponges, spray, and gloves are for biological stuff, blood, and when someone had too much bubbly and gets on the ice.

My mobile kitchen and office.

That is my home away from home right there. I have another folding table I bring out to cook on and prep meals, then the cooking stuff goes back into my road case I built for my Mobil kitchen back in 2019. I am getting two more monitors in here next week, gonna be awesome. Ladies, sorry but there is no ladies touch in here. Just simple get it done and workable stuff. I did not put carpet down this time, just a pain to sweep carpet so plywood floor it is. That and we park both Zambonies in there and with the studs in the tires, destroys carpet. We. have two heaters in here, two refrigerators, one for Ted and the other is mine. I have the rolling butcher block to help me prep meals with, my dry goods, rice, noodles, onions and such I hang from the wire up top using S-hooks and Trader Joe's shopping bags. I also cheated and used some throw-away plywood from the trash pile to sit up on top of the wires and hang my lights from. Built the stand for the monitor from the same pile.

You can see next to my Mobile kitchen road case, I removed the doors, are 4 spider boxes! I needed that many to power up the 220 heaters in both my Zamboini's and the Melt tanks out by the ice rink. The melt tanks is where we shovel in the snow that is picked up by the Zamboni during ice cuts. The heaters of course heat up the water and with the drain, I installed in the tanks up towards the top just run out and into the under the ice rink that the park staff opens for me to use.

The spider boxes only have one 220 volts, 30 amp circuit and I have 4 heaters so four spider boxes are needed. The downside is it takes up a bunch of room, so I built a stand for them, again from the same trash pile, and stacked them on top of each other. Then all the extension cords used are tied up neatly behind the Spider boxes and go where needed. The spider boxes are labeled so I know where every cable goes to and its job. If a breaker trips, it is just as simple as looking at the label on the front and flipping the switch back.

Here is my little part of the world, you know the Live from the top floor of the Grand Wizards Zam Condo in Union Square San Francisco I broadcast in live chat. Now to get my studio speakers installed and hooked up, the sub somewhere off the floor in case I do get water in here and the other two monitors. My area is right here, Ted has the space to the right so I am getting him set up with his own TV, I hook up my tablet you see the fireplace screen on the monitor and we can watch football, or movies, news, and such. However, I may still be wanted to do work on my Mac mini so the extra monitors come into play.

This is what my tent looks like first thing in the morning. I get one of the Zams out parked outside while the second one lives inside. My first ice cut gets some steaming hot water, best for making fresh ice. So I create show ice for the opening session. Then later in the day while both zams have been heating up water all day, I can not lay down water while the sun is on the ice for it will turn into a pond. After the sun drops off my ice I now have two very hot ice cuts available and it makes some awesome ice. And being from the creative types of people, I make hard-boiled eggs in one zam while using the other one.

Here is both of them tucked away for the night, got my wash clothes drying on the line, and we are ready for another day.

So, a bit about my world to share with ya all, and I get to practice here on writing, how long this takes to do and such for I am working on a new schedule for my online business. So, this is in no way a training blog here for anyone but myself. I will get to posting some of those in the future as I master the different levels of creating and being an online business.

Not to bad for this only took a little over an hour to create, after I had organized the photos first. So I got time involved in that to add in also. so, maybe two hours to get the photo out of my phone and into my puter, then go through the file, I created the file first in my phone, and label the photos I wanted to use so those pop up at the bottom of the file and are simple to move over here into this blog.

Okay, out of here. Hope ya all enjoy this blog! Now to make some cupcakes for Simone.

Laters gators.

Scott.

Thanks for sharing here. this is really cool to see what goes on out there in the big city stay warm 😁

A fantastic looking mobile setup you have there Scott!

I'm seriously contemplating going back to something similar soon!

Take care my friend!:-)

Scott, it looks like you are super busy! That's quite a setup. Really cool pics. I like the little touches you've added too, with the fireplace screen. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Susan

Gloves and spray, was getting a bit excited until I read the next line. A grand zam…nice post.

I love how you have everything adapted for your needs, Scott! There is even the warmth of the fire on your laptop as well--nice touch!

Jeff

I love those screen savers. In the morning in my room on my laptop a fireplace and on the TV an underwater adventure. Makes it feel more like I am not in the middle of all these skyscrapers, feels more open inside to me. With some classical music, perfection in the morning to enjoy my coffee and write.
