Many a good man has failed because he had his wishbone where his backbone should have been.

Good morning WA community. Well as promised here is some pics of the bathroom remodel I worked on during the Covid 19 lockdown. Thank goodness I have more than one ability. There were no live shows, And through word of mouth, and saying yes to doing this, I found work and a little income.

So, this was a rental house and at this stage, it now is becoming his house for he got married so his living arrangement changed. Here I am ripping out, or demoing out the old tile walls around the metal bathtub, and soon the bathtub will come out also.

I darn near had to cut that old tub in two to get it out of that space. His son is a young healthy man, we let him show of how strong he is, two hours later, he got it out. He was huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf blowing the piglet's house down.

In this shot, I have opened up the drain area to get access to the waste pipe and fit in the new plumbing that was going in there. The wall I have re framed, this was before the stucco was applied outside so you can see that there is a good chunk of the exterior that rotted away there over the years. I had to add all those two by fours for two reasons, Transfer the load down the wall and give me something to apply the hardy backer to. All that wood was dry-rotted out.

Here I have the shower pan installed, hardy backer installed and am starting on the tile work. Room got busy fast, not a lot of room to work in here. My tile cutter was outside, as were most of my other tools, and big boy was our guard dog and kept an eye on my tools for me.

Here the new tile is going in on the floor, I had to beat out all the old tile on the floor. Not a fun job. The shower tile has been completed at this stage for the most part. There was a few things I did not like to I redid those areas. The walls have been redone at this stage also but not primed and painted yet.

We had so much fun at this stage, he had his parents over and had them believing this was the color of the bathroom. I just painted it this color for a primer. New drywall and texture suck up paint. And the paint they were using was about $50 a gallon stuff. However, after I got this color on the walls, I got called out-of-town for a bit. So they had to live with this for two weeks. When I came back to paint the final color they had sunglasses in the bathroom so their eyes would not bleed, as the joke goes anyway. The photo does not do the room justice here, for that was a really loud color.

Here we are getting close to finishing this up. Day five I believe overall on this part of the project, minus the having to go out-of-town part.

This is looking out from the shower itself. All that is left is the fun stuff his wife put in here. At this point I am done with the bathroom, other than the sink hiccup, he got one so large it was in the shower stall area and over to where her shelf was going. I came back at a later date and put that in for them when he got a smaller sink basin.

So there we are, blog day 5 is in the history books now. See ya all tomorrow morning.

Scott.

Scott, all of that above is so interesting.
I used YouTube to tile my bathroom and front part of my house
A neat job it was for a first timer

I also used YouTube to help me to cut out my kitchen worktop and the sink

I thought you always had to use a white paint for the primer ?
Great skills Scott
Maybe I will do that plumber's course after all :)

I had that super bright Lime green paint laying around, still got about 3 gallons of it, so instead of spending more money, I simply used what I have on hand to save the client some cash. It is a good paint, most good paints are paint and primer in one. Again though, main point was to prime the wall and let that paint get sucked into the new walls. I only used half a gallon of the color coat to get it done. But, yes, usually primer is white.

You tube is very helpfull with stuff. EGR value was out on one of my trucks, did a search, got an idea of how best to get in there and replace it.

Plumbing sucks. I hate that stuff. But I understand it enough to make it good again.

Thanks for stopping by for tea again. Lol

Scott.

You are always making your meal delicious
Will visit again :)

Looks like a fantastic job to me there Scott, I was a little worried about the lime walls there for a moment though!

We gutted our bathroom a couple of years back now to remove the horrible old tub, and replaced it with a nice walk in shower.

The guy did a great job!

I just can't believe that there are no windows and very, very little ventilation in any apartments in this country, it just makes no sense to me!

Keep up the fabulous work my friend!

Old school way of thinking in bathrooms is if there is one window, no need for a fart fan, however in this bathroom, I have a window and I was allowed to install two Led Lights in the ceiling, and a fart fan. now they have LED fart fans with speakers so you can take a shower, have whatever color you want via the LED lights, and a blue tooth speaker broadcasting from the ceiling. Amazing.

Love the sound of that my friend! I will have to get you round next time I redo the bathroom, colour changing LED lights depending on ones mood and a sound system in there, seems like the way to go for me!

Get a flat screen in there and a mini bar as well, everyone's a winner!

You would never leave, just have a pizza and beer delivered and good to go.

Hahaha.

Spot on my friend!🤣

You do excellent work, Scott, and great images too!

Jeff😎👍👍

Thank you Jeffery, it is so cool to be one of the creative types, has its pitfalls, but wonderful when I overcome them. Doing this type of work is a great release for such people. Creating a wonderful, cozy bathroom feels good at the end of the day.

Thanks for stopping by.

Scott.

It is deeply fulfilling, Scott! In my previous marriage, my then wife and I had an ambitious project remodeling my 120 year old warehouse into a 4 story residence! We got a lot accomplished during the 4 year project before life events altered our direction!
