Punch To The Gut
Good evening Success Engineers,
Normally, I don't write posts here in WA at night or at the end of the day. But, on this day, I most certainly will.
On November 16, 2018, I posted this: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/calh60/blog/witnessing-the-r... here as a blog. I took the picture driving to work that morning and then posted a couple of hours later. For me it was a sign, the reason why I want to succeed at WA. Hideous traffic whenever driving to work every morning.
Fast forward to May 1, 2019. Staff meeting at 1:30 PM this afternoon. The boss whom I wrote this about in my profile: ( My goal is to start an online business and to be my own boss. I want to be in control of a business not be controlled by someone else's business.) said, "I want to keep this short because what I have to say at the end of the meeting might stir up some questions. Well, I've been around long enough to know that those words couldn't mean anything good is about to happen.
And, sure enough, he says, on June 1st our office is moving. For most people change can be a good thing. But, for this 58 year old retired Police Officer it was a punch to the gut. You see, the new location is almost twice as far as I drive to work now. It will be 44 miles round trip every day with $1.50 in tolls added to that, that is if I want to keep the drive around 1 hour each way.
To add to this frustration, I asked my boss about a month ago to allow me to either work from home 4 days a week or 5 days a week if possible. You see, I work from home 3 days a week now and my job duties don't really allow me to interact with anyone else in the office. So, actually no reason to be there at any time.
I have been searching for months now to find a work from home job ( other than WA ) at least until I get this business going. This news today has motivated me like no other time since I joined WA in June 2018,. I can't fire my boss yet, but, I feel that time getting closer.
I hope this didn't seem too much like a rant, however, maybe someone knows how I feel and will relate to the work events I experienced today. Let me know your thoughts!
Now, back to the SAC. I'm behind and need to write!

Thanks C&P for the kind words. Something will work out over time. But, in the meantime, I can work on my WA business.

Thanks KyleAnn, gonna ask one more time to work from home 4 days a week and then take it from there.
Cal, At the age of 58 they can't fire you because of age discrimination. But I am sure you know this. But they can make it hard for you to stay.
Work hard and harder and harder cause you got this one for sure.
Laura
Hi Laura, well truth is, the new office is closest to the bosses house, go figure. It would have been fairer to centrally locate the new office to fit everyone's travel needs. That is a pipe dream though.
And yes, I plan to work harder and harder!

With everything considered you have a choice go or stay. It certainly sounds like a strong message urging you to go. In my experience taking a huge leap works out well. Sticking around in something you dislike because it pays the bills is rarely successful.
You're in good company, Cal. I'm retiring a year earlier than I had planned, because I realized I just couldn't "do" one more school year. I'm at a good place financially, and will now have loads of time to build out my sites. Like Tanzanite said, I'm trusting that this will be a blessing and everything will fall into place. I'm praying for you, as I get back to SAC too.
Thanks Nancy, I have my law enforcement retirement, however, for now, I need to work a few more years. But, driving 44 miles and paying tolls isn't where it's at for me. Waste of money and time.
Not to mention, I haven't had a raise in over two years.

Hi,
While this might really suck in ways I believe this is happening for a reason. The reason is, it is time for you to start taking your life in another direction.
The real positive of all this, you're not left wondering what you want to do with your future because you've been working on it.
Like the old saying goes, "when one door closes often another door opens". It is time for your to walk through that open door and not look back.
I believe your future is looking happier and healthier.
Greg
Thanks for the positive words Greg!
