Hi!

Is it possible to have a featured post widget or blog posts roll within a specific page? I would like to make category pages but with an introductory post and introdu

Pearl you can make a sticky post that will remain on top at all times. will that help
I am a bit confused as to what you are trying to do.
Tim

What I'm trying to do is this:

1. Make a custom menu with a page on it titled "fitness". - done
2. Under that fitness page I will customize my menu so that a drop down menu under fitness will appear the blog post categories A,B, and C.
3. I want it to be such that when I click the category links in the menu I will see my introductory post about each category along with an image, then below it are the blog posts under that category, and the featured image of each post.

Is it not possible? :D I think I'm being too ambitious.

I understand your concept Pearl let me think about the mechanics. What theme are you using

I'm using the genesis child theme pretty chic. Haha I hope it's not too ambitious what I want to do with the pages lol

I think when you have created a category page, you add it to the menu (Appearance, Menus) and then drag and drop it in the menu on the right and put in any position, under any regular page.

Yes but I want to customize the automatically made category page :) Like place an intro at the top of it.

I noticed that my newly placed Adsense ads are not showing after a day of normal ad activity. So I went to my Adsense plugin manager and it says that my theme is not compatible

I would like to know how you get this fixed Pearl

Still hasn't been fixed, but I'm waiting for the Adsense team to respond. Ran into Kyle in live chat and he advised to focus on other things instead as these might be bugs with the plugins :)

Adsense seems to do a constant monitor of the sites they are included on. I would go to their help center and see if they can help you. Their customer service is pretty good with giving you the information you need.

Greg

They say it's the server that's the problem - my ads work fine on my other channels except for the one hosted here at WA :(

Sent a ticket to WA support and they can't figure it out :(

That's good that you found where the problem lies.
Let me know the outcome.

Sorry pearl I am about to add Adsense and am trying to figure out if it is worth it.
Does it cause problems often?
Tim

I'm not sure if the Adsense plugin is the problem, because I found it really convenient to set up the ads with that one. I wonder how I can fix this..

Hopefully we will soon find out

Hi everyone! After looking around I found out that my old blog which I didn't really optimize for SEO and I "abandoned" 2 years ago, is PR2. It's got a lot of pending comments

Page Rank isn't really used anymore and hasn't been for a couple of years. So, don't put any faith in PR checker. The last PR update was late in 2013.

Now, that being said, you might want to check it with the MOZ toolbar: This will check the domain authority, home page authority and so on. It's really the closest thing to what was known as PR. You can check the Moz website for more insight. But, I use it a lot to check out domains and if they are connected to a lot of spammy sites and other elements.

If you decide to move it somewhere, Blogger or better yet, WA hosting, because the domain name has actual age on it, that is an SEO factor. Older domain names are given more value in the search engines versus newer ones. Of course, content on it is going to be the true value of any site, but the age of the domain WILL help considerably.

I see. I'll be reading that one.

But if I purchase a new domain here in WA, and I set up a redirect from the old blogger address to the new one, will it work too in terms of the current traffic I get from the old blog address?

You can simply point that old domain here and begin using it on this platform. Yes, you can do a "redirect" where if someone types in the old one, they are directed to a new website with a different name. But, it's not going to help your search engine results. It's simply going to be what we call "referral" traffic. It's more a matter of inadvertent traffic than anything else. In the old days, before the latest Google updates, purchasing old domains to redirect them and help SEO was severely abused, so Google wrote in an algorithm change to prevent this.

From what I know...Page Rank isn't really a factor anymore.

What is used now is Domain Authority. For example, the MozBar that I use as an extension says my site's Domain Authority is 14/100. Then there's Page Authority for each individual blog post. That's how I can outrank Best Buy that has a Domain Authority of 100 or something, but a Page Rank of 5 on a post

Anyways, I believe that if you set up a redirect that some authority would be lost. Perhaps not all, but some. That could in turn affect the traffic you are getting.

I downloaded the toolbar, the PA is 43, and DA is 92. So will it be better to just maintain it as a free blog?

That can't be....are you sure that is your site? A DA of 92 would mean your dead blog is something like the New York Times LoL

http://mysassychef.blogspot.com that's what's in the toolbar, I don't even know what it means

Ahhh! That's the DA for Blogspot.com ....that is why.

I see. So should I just leave it?

It looks like you've put a lot of work into it. Perhaps you should transfer over to a WordPress site....optimize it, and put ads into each of your posts. You would start at a very low DA and PA, but with age, those should go up....especially if you worked on the site more.

At least then you'd be monetizing you're site, which it doesn't look like you're doing now

Agreed! Well said Doc !

I try :-)

Thanks to you guys for helping out. Yes, that old blog was just a hobby of mine, no SEO or marketing in mind when I was still using it. I'll take your advice :)

You're welcome :-) To learn more, come and watch me here https://youtu.be/n6Mbz33g4J0 I will teach you things you never imagined

Okay, bookmarked! I'll be going over that once I get settled, I'm set to move in a few days.

The video is less than a minute long, but people have told me it has changed their perspective on life in general. You just have to sit down, pay close attention, and I think it will do wonders

You can purchase a new domain in WA and then transfer your old domain to your new domain.
