Holiday Project Day 5: Maximizing Amazon Affiliate Links
Hey everyone, just thought I would drop by and create another blog post of my progress so far. For anyone who hasn't seen my previous posts, I'm currently blogging my daily efforts over the course of two months as I try to go from nothing earned to £100 or so.
Today I had a huge realisation that hit me as I was watching one of Jay's training webinars.
Up until now, I had been selecting products from Amazon with prices of around £10, figuring that people would be more likely to place an order if the item was cheaper. As you can imagine, factoring in the low comission rates, this wasn't earning much (it wasn't earning me anything).
Then I realised that there was no harm including more expensive products- becuase when people are searching for reviews of these products in the first place, it probably means they are willing to spend as much as it takes to get them! It's not like you're dropping the price on them out of nowhere. If they're specifically searching to buy that product it doesn't matter to them if it is £10 or £100.
The person it does matter to is us as marketers.
We can earn much more from the same amount of work when targeting these higher ticket items.
I can't believe it took me 6 months at WA to realize this, but once I did I made sure to head over to Amazon and look for all the products £50 plus within my niche to plan out my next articles.
Another function of Amazon I hadn't realized until very recently was that the affiliate programs for the US and the UK are completely distinct. As most of my visitors are from the US, this could explain why not many people are ordering- my links are UK based and that probably is not ideal for US visitors. What is the best way to fix this? Should I add another call to action and mention that it is for the US?
