Neil Patel is a highly respected blogger and online marketing expert who help companies grow their businesses. He is also the head of his marketing school where he and his partner Eric Siu provide free daily tips covering all areas of online marketing.

Eric and Neil claim that their site’s homepage is one of the highest converting pages of the site.

So, in a recent podcast they discussed the seven elements of their high converting homepage

  1. The first element ofa high converting home page is the headline. Make sure that your home pagehas a very clear headline that emphasizes what you do so that visitors to yoursite know exactly what you are offering. Also, that clear headline should be followed by a good Call-To-Action. You must have a Call-To-Actionthat goes with the headline.
  2. Answering objectionsis another key element. It is very important to answer people’s objectionsbecause if you are not doing that you won’t be making as many sales. Find outwhy people have issues with your website and what those issues are. If you arenot sure pick up the phone and talk to people to find out what theirhesitations are. If you can make them more comfortable they may be more likelyto buy.
  3. Use testimonials andcase studies. Using testimonials andcase studies will allow potential customers to hear the opinions of others usingthe product or service you are offering.
  4. Make sure you havebenefit driven headlines throughout the copy. A benefit driven headline can attract a larger audience andthis can turn into sales. We are not talking about the main headline at the top but those throughoutthe copy explaining the product. Headlines that are benefit driven convertbetter than ones that are not.For example, what benefit will people get from buying yourproduct? Will it save them money? Will they lose weight? etc.Talk to people who have bought the product or service andfind out what benefit they gained from it, and use it in your headlines.
  5. The fifth key elementis Page Load Speed. Make sure your page is loading quickly. If it is nottake steps to improve the loading speed.
  6. Think of yourhomepage as a funnel. If you wantyour home page to convert don’t just think of it as a homepage, consider it asa funnel as this is what gets the most traffic. Be aware of the steps thatpeople have to go through to convert.
  7. Don’t forget yourpixels. You must know your pixels toreach your targeted audience effectively. Start collecting data when people visit your site. You can’t advertiseeffectively to your target audience without your pixels.

According to Eric and Neil, your home page should be thestar as this is the page that generates the most traffic. If you apply thesechanges to you homepage you will effectively be creating a sales funnel toconvert your traffic into sales.

Keep in mind that the items on this list work for Eric andNeil. But I am sure some of them we can use..
