SWAG Destroyed My 45 year old Beliefs and My Confidence - I hope you are proud!

For years, I have had a belief that I have followed most of my life and taught to many of my students, colleagues and course attendees. It is a simple and effective belief that has made me successful at many things in life.

What Is it? Well, it is simply this....There is nothing I cannot do - I might not know how to do it yet but I will learn how.

This has got me out of many difficult situations but I must also caution that it has placed me in many more difficult situations. But that was cool because, I simply learned what to do and did it.

Now, After two and a half months of SWAG, this belief, that was build on solid rock and tested by years of implementation has been destroyed! I cannot believe that People can so easily destroy someone else's beliefs and practices and not take responsibility for it.

I hold Kyle, Carson and their team, and all of you WA people that give us newbies advice, accountable. I hope you are proud of yourselves. It is your fault!

After 8 months of work (2.5 months of SWAG) I have discovered that there is a huge flaw in My way of thinking, in my belief that there is nothing that I cannot do. While The belief is basically true, you are still subject to the rule - A dream without action is simply a wish!

What I have realised is that it is still extremely easy to shy away from issues that I don't like or that place Me outside my comfort zone.

And that is Where Swag and the rest of you came in You made me realise that I apply my belief selectively, and that is a flaw. I have to apply that belief across the board. Even to the things I am nervous of or don't want to do.

My sites and my knowledge is improving by the day but, I have not been able to achieve my financial aims, so I had to go back and re-evaluate everything. That is when I discovered that I apply my belief selectively. I avoid doing things that are, to me, geeky, like anything that is slightly technical. I know I need to get my head around CSS, finding Affiliate programs, Funnels and the like, and writing reviews (my pet hate).

So now, Thanks to WA, SWAG and all the advice and training, I realise that I have to apply my belief to the areas outside my Comfort Zone. A terrifying prospect that I am about to address right now.

So, When I succeed, just know this! I blame you all, Kyle, Carson and their team and SWAG for making me do what I don't want to do, and succeeding!

Thank you one and All.

Without you ALL, I would be staring at a blank page.

A great look inside your mind. Only a good and honest person will take the blame and step up to the knowledge that it's all on him. Look at Trump, he has no idea..............

But it's really not all on you, we're all happy to be here if we can help.
If you have anymore of these revelations, even the bad ones, pass them on, they get everybody looking inside!

Keeping on Truckin'

Laurel

Hi Laurel, Thanks for popping in. Yes, if we are not honest with ourselves, we are just living a lie and that is scarry.

To our disbelief, having a finger to point at everything but ourselves, one becomes too complacent in beliefs and knowledge. After reading your great post, I too found myself in that position.

Now it is time to turn that finger around and go over that line in the sand that stops me from learning something that will last forever. Thank you for pointing out the problem to us all and, yes, Kyle and Carson, are to blame for making reality a real thing.

Hey Joseph, Thanks for dropping by. Glad you found something useful in my experience but, all credit to WA as a whole. It just makes us grow......nomatter how old we are. :-)

I too have always subscribed to the theory that there is nothing that I cannot do. And it was many a time my response to questions in interviews that even if it was something I didn't know, I knew I could learn how to do it. While health issues have made it a little harder for me to learn new things, in the fact that it takes a lot longer, I am still working on moving forward towards my goals each and every day.

We just have to keep on doing it. Persistence pays with success.

Great post! Yes, I agree that stepping out of comfort zone = Fear, but fear of what? Fear of success or fear of failure? The worse is fearing needlessly without even trying, or putting effort forth! Self imprisonment is debilatating as we are then just existing rather living to the fullest! There is no failure, just a never ending learning experience!

Hi Suzanne,
Very true I like your "There is no failure, just a never-ending learning experience!"

Lol Bryan, and food for thought. A dream without action is just that, a dream. Thanks for the reminder. Two areas I find we tend to walk around or avoid. The first is like you said, things outside our comfort zone. The second is change. People seem to fear or want to fight change and yet in some cases that is exactly what is needed to progress and stay sustainable.

If we are going to succeed with our online business, we have to get outside our comfort zones and learn to keep getting outside of them even when things we try don't go our way. That's the only way we're going to grow and learn. Trust me, I have problems with this too, but I know it is necessary. I had to get out of my comfort zone yesterday so to speak and get some new tools that will help me in the long run for my online business and has me excited.

Thanks Brian,

It's all the suppport and help we get from the group that gets us through the rough patches. :-)

Discomfort: The "I can't" leaving the body.
I have experienced the stigma in this and the sense of accomplishment overcoming it, in many different social experiences.

Growing up while in a dysfunctional environment we easily become hypersensitive and unsure. This mental frame of reference out in the world is a scary proposition which takes
time and process for gaining confidence.

Putting yourself into challenging situations holds both the fear and the cure

Taken from your thoughts: I apply: I will learn how and take steps to better myself with perspective and willingness to be uncomfortable. You know... it has truly helped me stay calm in very trying circumstances.

Again Bryan, thank you for your insight...respectfully, David

Thanks David,

I am not a great one for discomfort and I love the sofa and the TV but it just does not seem to get the grass cut!

Great point and well enjoyed... I'll bee visiting again!

Hi Bryan, nice one.

I can relate. I am avoiding what you mentioned. And I know that if I don't face it, I'll go nowhere. There's so much that is going on in my "life" right now. I know I just have to start again but it seems I always postpone. What is wrong with me? :(

Got to snap out of my comfort zone! Thanks for the inspiration.

Kind regards,
Arline

Arline, this rings true of my own circumstance though I have had
my time to reflect upon the changes I need to make and set new goals...Isn't there always re-adjustment along the way of any path we choose travel.

I can't remember the last time I traveled in a straight course to achieve anything worthwhile...But it doesn't lead me to more stress because I have come to realize in my process there is always enough time to reflect approvingly upon the past positive results to that bend in the road.

Always looking to support (applaud your effort)... Be brilliant,my friend.

Respectfully, David

Hey Arline, Thanks for dropping by.
Don't take this the wrong way but, your problem is that you are human, yes, we all suffer from it in some form or another. :-)

I have developed a habit of starting with the issue first thing. I won't go on to the next until I have mastered it. i.e. I will not start a new project until I have mastered the first.

I have a daily routine with a timetable because I find that I will spend longer on the things I like and conveniently not have sufficient time for the things I don't like.

I have always liked quiet when I work so if I start a particularly difficult task, I have a habit of getting up at 03:00 to work while peace rules (I have three grandkids and 5 dogs). I probably do this 3 -4 times a week.

My secret is that I am on pension and I sleep for two hours while everyone else is at work and school. :-) Yes, I cheat, I take every advantage of circumstances that I can.

Too True David. Those straight line route usually have no payoff at the end. :-)

Thanks a lot David. I did try today but I got frustrated when I was trying to upload the logo at my website but it was in PDF file and of course I didn't realize there were choices on how to save it in Canva. Found out just a while back. I will try and try and try until I... hopefully succeed.

I should do what you're doing. I've already known that few years back. To finish the task at hand before starting a new one. I have this habit of laying all the cards on the table and working on all of them. A bit here and there which of course don't produce good results. Always half finished or not at all.

I gotta develop that habit.

Thank you for the support and motivation.

All the best,
Arline :)

Hi Bryan, Welcome to the club, my friend. I may be a few years older than you, but I have been in your shoes, probably still in them a bit.

It's only by stepping out of my own comfort zone that I realized that it was there that things happen. It's the arena, where the fighters fight! And in the end, with persistence and ACTION, skeptics will be dumbfounded!

We HAVE to keep at it, and it WILL happen.

Like that famous quote from Nike "Just do it"

All the best!
Denis

Hi Denis, This club seems to be pretty large. :-)
Nike's "Just Do It" is one of my favourite expressions.

All the best

It is hard to step out of that comfort zone sometimes and can be a real challenge to most people. The nice thing about WA is we have each other to help if we happen to stumble in the wrong direction, there is always someone to get us back to the road to success.

Hi Dena, It's a great community
