I Was Marooned For 2 Months! - But I am Back!

So, I have moved and have sat without internet for 2 months. A huge wake-up call. I felt like my life had been put on hold, that I was starving and could not function properly.

I was craving something but it was not WA. It couldn't be, WA is not an addiction, is it? I mean, It's just a work tool. I can stop work and take a break, for whatever reason, can't I? Sure I can.

We decide to move and set up in the suburbs in the north of Pretoria. No big deal right. I mean its a couple of days and then I can get back to work right!

WRONG!

To get your line moved (which entails getting a new telephone number because we are in another exchange area) you have to give a month's notice. Problem number one.... I gave about two weeks, so my line was cut and we had to wait for installation of new line. So, after two weeks I did inquiries as to when I could expect a line. "We will get back to you".

Well they did, "Sorry, there are no copper cables in that area at this time". My Landlady informed me that the lines were stolen and they were never replaced. Again, off to the telephone company and I was given an option of a Cellular Data Line.

Now I was horrified as Data in South Africa tends to be expensive so, I braced myself for the punch line and I heard wrong or so I thought. I bit the bullet and signed up for a smaller package than I had on my landline and hoped that it would suffice for the duration.

Now that was the internet sorted. So I could get back to WA and Work, right!

Hmm, You guessed it, In all the dozens of boxes, somewhere were my books. I could not recall which had my books. You see, I am still old school and I have to manually write everything down with pencil and paper and yes, it does have its disadvantages, like not knowing where you packed them.

Now all the while I wake at three, go to the PC, look at it, try to figure out which box I had packed my goods in but to no avail. It was devastation as I watched my visitor numbers drop to 15 a month. Look, they were never huge figures but it was growing, but now.......

I realised that I had a problem. WA had become my life. It was more about WA than my business. Now don't get me wrong, I love WA and the community but my purpose has to be my business and not WA. I had to be on WA because of my business, not be in business to be on WA. It felt like I had been consumed by WA and it was awesome but, it did not make me money...well not serious money to live off.

I have now re purposed my WA experience and I am now going to concentrate on my business. If it does not improve my business earnings in some way, it is going to be a secondary activity.

So now I will be throwing out all the sandbags and let things fly where they will as long as I can help others grow and my business blooms.

So Hi to all the community and all the best. Now, time to research my next article.

Welcome back:) Yes you can get addicted!

I am Loes, and I am addicted to WA
Fortunately, it's a minor cost addiction;)

Addicted to cigarettes = $15 a/w x 52 = $780
for less than half you can get an annual subscription to WA;)

Stop the cigarettes and there's 2 more years!

So right! I don't smoke when I am behind the computer, so WA is a healthy addiction too:))

Welcome back!!! I was wondering what had happened to you.

Thanks Alexander, It sure is good to be back. It was most frustrating watching everything go down the tubes and you could do nothing about it.
