ok so in the edit post or create one there is a toolbar under add media. the furthest button to the right is called toggle toolbar. if you click that it will drop down more tools. one of these towords the left is the letter A with a underline.click that and you can change text color. highlight your text and click on the color. it should change.

It is advised you keep text and page color black and white. You can always color highlighted words and add pics. But as far as changing everything I only know how to change text
If your theme allows it, you would go to "appearance" then "customize" in the Wordpress dashboard.
