Over the last few weeks, I've taken more time and effort to welcome WA newbies and also read comments and respond to some requests for assistance. A trend that I've seen lately is blog posts, profile comments and questions from many affiliates who seem to be struggling through the process. Now that I've been an affiliate for almost 4 months, I can respond to comments by offering my own experience and how I dealt with hurdles in the early days.

There are some affiliates who are zooming through the learning in order to check a box, and then find it challenging to start on their website because the information is no longer fresh in their minds. They find themselves having to go back to the start and walk through the lessons step by step. For others, although the learning has been simplified, technology is simply not their thing and so they struggle to find the dashboard and to understand the link between the back room and their website.

Then others struggle with finding a niche or understanding what keywords are and how to implement the concept of low hanging fruit. SEO? Sounds like something from a sci-fi movie! Everyone of us affiliates have goals and for some, getting to those goals is easier and faster because of many variables that may not even involve our ability to build a website. When I first signed up, the importance of rank and getting indexed was all that seemed to take pride of place in the WA world. I was slow out of the gate, took 3 months to get through 3 levels of training while building my website, and I got indexed twice! Although, achieving those goals were important, I have not made them my focus. Instead, I continue to do it at my own pace. In a recent blog by Cassi of Troy Do not worry about Google indexing do this instead, she reiterated that affiliates might consider refocusing their attention on content building, keyword searches and setting content goals.

My responses to many people who are struggling is to find your own rhythm. Take each lesson and apply it to building your website while it's still fresh in your mind. At first when you get to writing content, chances are, you will suck! However, the key is in doing it again and again and eventually you'll find that you've actually become so much better at it. There's no race unless that's what drives you. I've come across affiliates who are stay-at-home moms with young kids looking to make a difference in their lives so their spouses won't have to work as hard. Some are older people who are not tech savvie but are retired and looking for a new adventure. All of our stories might be different, but we have one thing in common - goals!

Thankfully, the WA world is one of the most supportive networks I've ever come across. We've got support coming out of our ears over here! From the question tab, the live chat, the learning channels, classrooms and mentors who will send you an entire WA learning manual if they could. New WA affiliates, check out this blog post from Only1Hugh Newbies don't get sucker punched for some valuable info on the do's and don'ts of the affiliate world. Trust me...you learn something new every day.

In summary, don't be discouraged if you don't understand everything off the bat or you take 3 days to write your first blog. The important thing is, you've taken that first step to achieving a goal that you've set for yourself. That was the hardest part - the rest is just par for the course with plenty support to back you up!

P.S. Did I mention that you've got to filter all the emails that you get? You'll probably freak out when they start pouring in....so look at the subject headings of the ones that directly apply to you - like one that answers a question you might have had, then just prioritise the rest cuz they will just keep coming!

Cheers

That was an absolute joy to read Maria. Very wise counsel to the newbies. So when did we stop being Newbies? I am only here 4 months and you a little less lol. Keep writing this well and we will certainly have to ask that you conduct lessons. Make sure I get the Caribbean discount

Hugh

Lol...Thanks! You know I got you! Much appreciated my friend. Lessons may come at a cost though!!! Haha....Cheers.

Maria

The Caribbean??? Heck yeah!!!

Like you want to apply for a visa lol

and a passport too? I'm on it...BET

Maria, so many salient points ! I am very impressed with your
command of our English ( and/or American English), and the fact
that you are originally an island girl. I am a newbie, who sadly must leave WA today. However, since lack of time to do any justice to WA is my explanation. I will consider returning in the
next year or so, once I can rid myself of personal burdens that
have been too costly financially and emotionally devastating.
I took a good look, love the program setup by Kyle and Carson,
and you said it: "Learning curve, and technology challenges
can be overwhelming."
I wish you all the success in your WA endeavors and in your
daily challenges of life. Thank you for the sage advice,
You Rock, Girl !

Thanks so much Spike! I'm thinking there's a great adventure out there for you. You've got a great story to tell. I do wish you the very best in whatever you choose to do. It's been a pleasure. Take good care and be safe! Rockin' on!!

Maria

Maria, that's how we Roll ! I shall return in better times personally and collectively for our USA and the free world. Stay Healthy wishes to you and yours. "you GO, Girl ! " (as in Don't stop now,
you are on a ROLL !) Bye for now.

This is a very well made point. I figure that it takes a year minimally to learn a new.job. We can’t expect to start an entirely new business quickly and easily.

Thanks. Yup we gotta do the work but it does take time. :)

Agreed!

Wow Maria, You hit the nail on the head your comment and built yourself a great blog. We all struggle with something at one point or another, and some more that others. The truth is we are all trying together, helping each other in positive ways.
MY website is a mess, but it's better than it was. I'm listening to those who know more that me and like you, I hope to pass down some knowledge I've gained to pass it along.
Girlfriend, this was a pleasant blog and Thank you for sharing the truth as we know it. I love it here at the WA community, and I have found that blog writing is good therapy for ole gal like me.
On forth with your success and screw up's to boot, I'm right behind you, doing same thing lol,
Lisa

Lisa girl! So happy to hear that you enjoyed the blog. It's reality for so many of us. Although I don't think I can still call myself a newbie, I think supporting and assisting those who are and might be struggling, is key.
So, while you and I still make our mistakes, we'll get it right. Wishing you every success (even when you screw up!). Take good care and be safe!

Great Post !!! Thankyou Maria, when folks are new they are in a hurry instead of learning the steps. I would rather see them spend extra time learning the steps. and not be in a hurry. I just finished level 4 today and I have been here since August. I am not in a hurry to get through the training. i would rather learn what I am doing. knowledge is more powerful than money and ratings.

Mike, I'm in your corner. No rush! No hurry! I'm glad that you appreciate the post and like you, I want to retain the knowledge that I'm learning and build my dream as I go. Best wishes on your own journey!

Maria

Best of Success to you as well
