Indexed - music to my ears!

I kid you not when I say that the word "index" has been haunting me like a child walking past the candy store for weeks, looking through the glass store front at all the jars of sweet stuff unable to go inside to even purchase a lollipop because she just coudn't figure out how to get inside the candy store!

Since I started building my website weeks ago, getting indexed has been like a carrot dangling in front of a rabbit's face. When you're a WA newbie coupled with the fact that you're not a tech geek, you literally start building from the ground up. Lesson by lesson, I listened as @Kyle provided information on how to build your website. I'm a writer by nature, so that was the least of my problems - content creation is my niche so getting those posts and pages down, was the easy part. The technical stuff...not so much!

Each time I went into my Dashboard, it was like entering a different realm. I followed the instructions for everything - pausing and playing Kyle's videos as I literally did what he said step by step. For all those WA newbies out there, let me give you some words of encouragement - LOOK, LISTEN, LEARN! I thought my ranking reducing week by week was one of the more exciting parts of this WA journey - let me tell you, getting indexed trumps that by a mile!

I came upon training that Kyle shared since 2019 on the Google Search Console and some elements of the console had changed since then, so things didn't look the same. But the new tech geek in me, worked around it and figured it out. I also came upon training by @Triblu on inserting your affiliate link into your webpage and adding banners and ads. The excitement was almost palpable when that banner got added and when I was able to insert links to affiliate programmes to my website.

When Martin Luther King said "I have a dream", he really wasn't talking about getting your website indexed on Google, but trust me, the dream has started to feel real after almost 3 months. I have to admit that I don't have as much time to commit to doing more as I have a full-time, demanding job, but the thought of being able to just get this far, with my rank now in the 23K from when I started at 380K....this kid is walking into that candy store and ordering more than a lollipop!

I'm very aware that the real work now begins and my website is a work in progress. With the dream of traffic and getting business no longer a distant thought, I'm stoked by this achievement and can only advise other newbies and even those WA affiliates who've been at it for a while and seem to be stuck - hang in there. We all may not be able to post a blog every day, but we can welcome someone new, we can add to our network, we can continue our training and building our dream websites. Who would have thought? Now I can even answer a tech-related question! Go me!

So thanks WA for the learning and for 'pushing' me closer to my dream. Still working out how that's gonna look, at least now there is one and I'm now aware that I can add so many more. In my world, gratitude is a must, so this is me saying "Thank You"!! My website has been indexed!!
