Fatherhood! The Greatest Profession!
Congratulations, to all the Great Dad's!, here at WA, and around the world!
Today, I just want to give a shout-out, to Jerry, my own boys, Father!
A Vietnam Veteran, who resides at the Houston, VA Hospital...Michael DeBakke building.
Having suffered a stroke, at 59, he resided, at home, for several years, until a bout of pneumonia. At the onset, our boys, stepped up to the plate. JJ, moved, back from, California, to Texas, and his brother, Russ, startng getting the house ready, for dad's coming home from rehab. Carpet out, new flooring, for a wheelchair.
Where was, I? Remarried, but had to step up and do my part! Our marriage had it's problems, but, the boys were always our priority. I knew, Jerry would always be a number one Dad!
I was not disappointed. Jerry, taught my boys, by example! He had done the same, for his, Dad, as well, going to Tucson, and moving, him to Texas, allowing him, his family, to the end.
I, believe, the role of Fatherhood, is a man's greatest profession! Strong, Mom's, Yes! We're rather expected to be... Fatherhood, takes putting others, before oneself, and showing, kids, how to "Keep on, keeping on!" .
Parenthood, comes with NO manual. We all do the best we can, with NO guarantees. I have just need to remember, qualities they have learned, may sometimes, be forgotten, but that's just being human. My, kids are not my property, as parents, we guide them in good ways, and bad, but learning, from our "poorer" decisions, is the key.
After I post this, I'm heading over to the boys... Every, Sunday, weather permitting, Russ, goes and gets Dad, to hang-out, at the house. Football, or American Pickere... Always, loud!
Today, is his 40th Father's Day! Thank, you, Jerry, for your service...To our wonderful country, first, and to our children, as well.

Success, today, was resetting my password for my phone. I was afraid, I'd screw it up, and put it off, but, today... It just came to me, and the answer was an old WA email. Another, " problem" solved...Just do it!!

Great Post Barb and very touching. Four of my mates went to Nam and all survived, but one, Bazza, is a nervous wreck. If you drop a pen he jumps through the roof. All because of Nam.
So on a final note, best wishes to Jerry on fathers day.
Our fathers day, in Australia, is September 2. Our Mothers day is May 12, the same as the US, but our fathers day is behind. Maybe they think the fathers over here are a bit backward.
My daughter turned 22 on Saturday 16. I remember cutting her cord like it was yesterday.
