Good evening, my wonderful friends! Tonight, I'm cheating, a bit! I'm going to share, the very first piece, Day One I wrote, of my writing challenge. Unsure, of what was appropriate, for my Blogs, I wasn't sure, if this sort of piece, was appropriate, but I asked, a fellow friend, and determined, that if it's going to be on my "12 Steps for Everyone!", site, in the future, it was appropriate, so...Without, changing a thing, I will share this with you, now!

I had printed it out, Thankfully, as all was lost, from my Word Documents, with this week's, computer problems,

My Best Flat Tire, Ever!... Letting Go... and Letting, God!

My nephew, Adam was getting married, In Carmel Valley, California, this past, summer. In that, I love roadtrips, with my special pal, Michi (Mee-Chee), my little 9 year old Malti-poo, I choose to make the trip, from Houston, Texas, to Monterrey!

Before the trip, I had purchased a brand new, set of much, needed tires, and was feeling, quite confident, that my trusty, Honda CR-V, would take us safely!

Having, already taken the 880 mile roadtrip, across Texas, back in 1975, I had no desire to drive straight across, rather, chose to head northwest, take some more, scenic routes, with the intention, of heading to Phoenix, and briefly, visit, Rita, a high school friend, before moving on.

That was the PLAN!!

Turned out, that I would have arrived, at Rita's, far, too, late, for any visit, I went with my with the next plan...heading to Flagstaff, Arizona, to Susie's, my college roommate. Instead, of cutting over, to Arizona, and heading north in Phoenix, I, stayed in New Mexico, Land of Enchantment, and headed straight north, to I-40.

Anyone, who has traveled, out west, will tell you Google Maps, and radio stations are, NOT reliable!

Late, in the afternoon, I got a bit lost, and ended up traveling for about a 1/4 mile, on this deeply rutted grassy road(?), around Magdalena Peak, still in New Mexico. Having navigated, my way, back to the highway. I came across a scenic area, so Michi, and I, got out for some pictures, and a much, needed break. When we returned to the car, I noticed, my tire light had come on. Hmm...Brand new tires! I decided, quickly, to get back on the highway, knowing, I had to be where, I might get help, when needed.

Now, I need to backup to my lack of radio, available. I carry inspirational CD's...love Joyce Meyers and 12 Step recovery, speakers. I was, first, listening to a speaker on the 3rd Step, "Made the decision,to turn our will (thoughts), and our lives (actions), to the care of a God, of our understanding". Good stuff!

Next, I popped in, Joyce's "Trust God and Do Good!" At the very end, she enthusiastically, asked, "Are you, really, ready, to trust God?"

My response, was "Hell, yes!", and continued, on my way, feeling, rather, rosey!

I had been cautioned, by Susie, to watch out for detours, as fires, were intermitment, all over the west, this time of year, and, yes, I'd seen some smoke, in the distance, at times, already, but nothing that had interfered, with our travel

Back to the tire!

I managed to get back, on the highway, and drove about a mile, then, "Pop!" there went the tire! Earlier, I had texted a friend, "This is no-man's land! No cars! No people!"

As I got out I looked up, and said, "God, really!", and proceeded to break out in hilarious laughter! I assessed the situation, I was going to, have have a tire change. I went and turned on my emergency flashers, I went back a began unpacking, as it was loaded!!... knowing, whoever, might, help, would need to get, to my spare.

I noticed some, distance, lights, heading my way. Hmm..."At, least, there are some people around."

As, I continued to unload, 3 pick-up trucks, raced , right, by me, leaving me, rather, puzzled.

Next, I knew, 2, of those trucks, had turned around, came back to help me!!

6 men, I call my angels, got out, and took over. 3, on the tire, 2 on the back, and one on the emergency brake, and my hand holder!

While, the others, took care of the tire, I asked, the one,Just, how they happen to be there, anyway? He responded,"We're coming from a fire."

I cried out, "Well, I hope that, that fire wasn't, too, bad, but you have to, be my angels, to be, here, at, just, the right time!"

My angels, were members of the Socorro County, New Mexico, Fire Department, for which I will be forever, grateful!

I had to take, their picture, and asked, if I could give a donation, and , of course, they, absolutely, refused, after, which, I promised, whenever, I saw, firefighters out, with their, "Fill the Boot!" campaign, for the needy, I would give a donation, and in their honor!

We said, our good-bye, and by this time, having tears in my eyes, of gratitude! God had done, for ME, what I could NOT, do for myself!

I was back on the road, in less, than 5 minutes!!

I, later thought,... Isn't it odd, not even, once, did I think to use, my cellphone and call 911!!

"God doesn't make house calls...He sends people!"

I learned a valuable lesson... What could be perceived, as a, BAD situation, turned out to be one, beautiful event, I would not have wanted to miss!

"Let go...and Let God!"

I am , now, inspired to send this story, in a Christmas card, to that, very same, irfe department, and remind, them...Just, how much, they are appreciated! It will got out, Monday, to be received, for this Thanksgiving!!

This is so inspiring experience. God created people good and they will show their goodness any where, any time.

Thanks for sharing and building peoples faith. Have a blessed day!

Thank you, Alex! I'm about to put a disclaimer...I am Not trying to prognosticate...but just sharing what works for me. Faith does sometimes, have to be shared, even if others, don't believe, it strengthens a believer. My biggest victory was...this was my first, of getting over writer's block! Something that held me back for years!
Thank you, Alex, so appreciate any feedback!

It sounds a shattering trip, I was exhausted just reading it! A wonderful tale and a beautiful outcome! Those Honda’s are great motors, disappointing tyres

They weren't Honda tires...that baby has over 200,000 miles, and plenty go!
Michelin!!
Shattering?? Not to me, just a twist in the journey, but perhaps, it was long...but necessary for my website, aimed for that audience...12 Steps for everyone!
Thank you, for your time and comment. I'm always, trying to improve.
