Always Be Grateful!

Last Update: November 23, 2021

Hello wonderful WA family!

As we go into Thanksgiving week, Gratitude is on my mind,

No matter what I may be going through, I must keep all things in perspective.

This past week has been tumultuous!

Last year at this time, we were planning my sons' dad memorial.

During Co-Vid? ... This was not an easy feat.

Churches and pastors were not to had!

My first ideas were not to come, but what happened in the end was just "The Way it's Supposed to Be".

We had a beautiful get-together, rain and all at the VFW!

It's not about me!

In anticipation of Thanksgiving week, I found myself going to dark places.

Playing the victim, never suits me well.

This past Saturday, I was in this place. I wasn't looking for the light!

Come Saturday night, I had to drag myself out to our Bonfire meeting.

I'd been announcing it for the last couple of weeks, and that was my commitment, so I rustled up my courage and headed out!

Choose Happiness!

When I arrived, I was so happy I chose to go!

First Bonfire of the season, and 30 people showed up from several different groups, too! ...Friends I'd met while I was traveling around and friends I hadn't seen since Co-Vid!

Not only was I welcome, but I was asked to lead. I didn't need to lead, but I did find someone, a visitor, to do the honors. I chaired, as I know our format, but joyfully let our guest proceed.

Little did he know, he would be our first of the year speaker! LOL

A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed

Last night, I heard from my good friend Phillip. His wife is in the hospital and they are looking at growth around her spleen. Paula needs our prayers.

What a difference in my perspective!

Her doctors have already planted the Cancer idea, without the rest of the tests, so Phillip is freaking out!

Sometimes, all we can be is the light in the storm.

So, my concerns about Thanksgiving?? ...Just another day!

"There's a full moon over Texas!", ...reflecting off the water.

I'm staying in Gratitude!

Whenever one feels that their problems are too much to handle, try a little gratitude!

When I go to sleep and feel overwhelmed I use this little trick.

I simply lay there and find something I'm grateful for from A-Z!

Sometimes, it's people on the list, and can find many of the wonderful friends I've been sent to cheer me, and sometimes, it's A for the air, B for my boys, C for courage.

I often find myself asleep, by the time I get to WXY and Z.

Thank You WA!

One thing I'm very grateful for this past year? ...WA!

We are such a supportive group of friends, whether it's business or personal!

We truly have a gift from above, with this beautiful community!

Wishing you all a peaceful Thanksgiving everyone!

Thank you for being with me, on this beautiful journey!

In closing...

"You've got a Friend" James Taylor/Carole King

"When you're down and troubled

And you need some love and care

And nothing, nothing is going right

Close your eyes and think of me

And soon I'll be there

To brighten up even your darkest night.

You just call out my name

And you know wherever I am

I'll come running to see you again.

Winter, spring, summer or fall

All you have to do is call...

And I be there.

You've got a friend!"

Have a blessed holiday and everyday, Friends!

Barb

I agree -- Gratitude is so important. How can we expect to get any more wonderful things in our life if we are not grateful for what we already have?

Nearly every night before sleep, I think of all the things in the day just past for which I'm grateful. It's a good way to end the day.

Hello, Paul!!
Long time no talk to!!
I was up in Michigan this last summer, but couldn't go to Canada!
How have you been? Are you getting snow, yet?
Great to hear from you, again, Paul!

Tough times are all around us Barb, but in whatever diversity we face, we must always be grateful for what we have.

Sorry to hear that you have had a trying week my friend, we all do unfortunately from time to time, it's how we come out stronger afterwards which makes us who we are today.

Yes, Nick!
All are learning and growing opportunities, ...Character builders;)
The only power we really have is how we respond to the crisis. "React" without thought and freak out?? Or, stop and reflect and hear the next right move. "Respond!"
Life is cycles, aye?
Enjoy your holiday, Nick!

Life is full of character building opportunities Barb!

It's so true that there is no point in freaking out, 'reflect then respond', I like that!

I hope you have a fantastic holiday, no holidays for us here this week!:-)

Yes, I understand. I have been through some hard times. As a result, I am living in a pretty crummy apartment. The tiles in the bathroom look like they were installed by a demented chimpanzee.

But I am very grateful that I have a roof over my head and plenty of food to eat.

And I am also grateful for all the new friends I've found at WA. This was certainly not expected when I signed up!

Have a great turkey day.

Terry

Oh, and I love the song.

Oh, Terry!!
Thanks for the laugh!!
Just what I needed!
It's really about having our needs met, and that is a wonderful gift!
Hope you pulled the song up on YouTube.
I write most often with a song in mind, but not today. This one came to me while writing.
Enjoy whatever plans may evolve for Thanksgiving, Terry! "He's" got this;)

Don't need YouTube. I have a huge music collection - 2,000 or so artists with well over 6,000 tracks. Plenty of James Taylor and Carole King, including "You've Got a Friend" (remember "Mockingbird", James Taylor and Carly Simon?) it'll go for weeks, playing 24 hours a day, before it repeats.

No chimps in sight, so I guess I'm goof to go!

Mockingbird? Yes!
Fire and Rain has some bittersweet memories. I was in first year of college, 1970! Very enlightening time! LOL
Music makes me time travel:)
I had a wonderful LP collection, including all the Moody Blues, that were stolen from storage, 1985.
Beatles, and Bob Dylan and Procol Harem...
Years!
Thanks for this time travel, Terry!

You, as well, Brudda!
It will be as it should be!
Plan A day, ...I 'm starting out early at a group breakfast. Strangled eggs with ham and cheese wrapped in tortillas will be my contribution.
Plan B will be where the wind takes me!
