Ah so, winter made its mark here in Portland Metro area this morning. As most of you know I grew up in Minnesota and have lived in Fargo, North Dakota from 2001 a week before 9/11 happened to 2015 when we moved to Portland.

I have never seen snow here in the month of April.

The other day, it was sunny and beautiful Spring like weather, warm at 74F means approximately 23C.

Spring Weather of 2022

NorthSide Window from my room of my facility.Cherry Blossom tree.

I live right next to the MAX, Portland's lightrail commuter train. Parking lot for commuters. Northside window from my room.

Big Change in Weather-Winter Wonderland

Same tree, now snow. As of this morning. What a surprise to wake up to this.

Northside Window facing MAX and Parking lot for commuters. MAX train is running fine, they installed a new heat system that melts the ice on the tracks and on the electric line as well.

Some people around the area report power outage and treees falling down. So far we have electricity and heat is working.

Same Cherry Tree but on the other side, the Westside windows. I have two windows one north side and one on the west side. This is my assisted living facility where I currently reside.

Being from Minnesota, the amount of snowfall is pretty minor. I think so far we got two inches. When I lived in Fargo, it was much more than a foot or more.

MagicBrad in Minneapolis, you guys gonna get hit later this week.

This is a bit unsusal to see this amount of snow. Mount Hood probably got more than we did. I live in hour from Mount Hood mountain, part of Cascade mountains on the east side from here.

Here is a photo of Mount Hood, most famous mountain in Oregon.

Not to be another Jeff Brown with his photos but this is a nice surprise to wake up to because

I was born in December, there was a blizzard going on in Minneapolis, Minnesota (St. Louis Park) when I was being born. My parents couldnt get the car started and I was coming out. Luckily they made it in time to the hospital, couple hours later I was born.

My whole life I always love winter and snow. I am not a fan of summer or the hot weather. Cold place is just what I like.

Have a great day whereever you are.

Now get back to work.

Sincerely,

BrendaMZ

Wow, Brenda! Nice scenery, for a moment there I though tou were going to say the the moutain view was also from your room! 😹

Even at that, those views of the tree are quite nice though too!

I'm glad you are a winter girl and like it! I like looking at it, I just don't like being in it!

Enjoy it while it lasts, my friend!

Great images too with great comentary, as well!

I guess this is a pleasant start to your new week, my friend!

Jeff

Aw shucks, the snow is short lived. Most of it has melted by the late sun that popped up late afternoon today. By tomorrow the snow will be gone. I did enjoy the beauty for a while. I can see Mount Hood mountain from the 4th floor dining room of my facility.

One day, if it’s clear sky and the face of the Mount Hood mountain appears, I will take a photo of it. It looks really close by. As if it’s literally in front of our window, facing the east side of the dining room. That is why this building was built for Deaf people because of its view of the mountain. Most assisted living dining rooms are located on the first floor or the main floor. Not this facility it’s a Deaf and DeafBlind facility, one of a kind, speciality in geriatric senior living care.

It sounds like a GREAT place with perfect scenery, Brenda!

You DO have Kansas weather! Wait five minutes and it changes!

Jeff

Looks so beautiful.

Yeah, I agree. A rare event for sure.

Beautiful images. Thanks for sharing, Brenda.

Enjoy!

Myra

Hi Myra, yeah I love snow. No place I rather be but in snow. This snowstorm is rare for this area. Although, it’s short lived, most of it melted off by tomorrow it will be gone and green grass will appear. At least I got to enjoy it even for a short time.

That's awesome to have for a short period.

It's definitely like winter wonderland.

Myra

Striking images.Thanks for sharing.
Sami

Sami, yeah striking images. Glad you enjoyed the photos. Rare to see this, a short and sweet delight of my day. Most has melted off, aw…will need to wait until next winter season if it shows up again.

Some beautiful looking photos there Brenda.. but more snow in April!

I know what you mean though, here in France we had more wintry weather in the first two days of April than we had over the entire winter months put together! Crazy days!

Have a great week my friend.

Bonjour! I never been to France but took two years of French language in college. As it was a required course for my college degree. At least, I still remember the French language. I can’t speak (parlez) it because I am Deaf but I can read and write ✍️, that is helpful for me when communicating with people who can hear. You, have a great week too.
