Weird! This situation is exactly what I’ve wondered 🤔would happen using AI!

Why? Because finding “unique” keywords is an anomaly! Like Eric states.

But I also agree that the WA AI Author should never give the same content results no matter how many times the exact same prompts/words/keywords are used!

I’m sure they will investigate and resolve the issue. Glad you brought it attention. And sorry to hear it happened. Definitely feel for you and understand your frustration!

Hi Brenda

I wouldn’t stress about this.

There’s no way two people’s articles can have the same URL because the domain names are different.

As long as the content of one of the articles is not plagiarized, which I know you would never do, then it should be fine.

If someone plagiarizes your article after you publish it first, then they will be penalized by the search engines, not you. 😎

Frank 🎸

That sucks.

Anytime I use Ai, I run it through a plagiarism checker. There are a few few ones that are great, like Small SEO Tools: https://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/ . You can check up to 1000 words at a time for free.

Save yourself the headache.

These are sadly not to be trusted. I have seen gurus saying it, and I have seen it with my own articles. These tools say its copyrighted, while I wrote them myself.

Perhaps they cited you as the source. Did you check, they provide the links where info was found.

Ive compared this to Grammarly's plagiarism checker and found them both to be very fairly accurate.

Rudy

Using the same keyword in and of itself isn't duplicate content. For example, just about every single person promoting WA will create an article with the focus keyword "Wealthy Affiliate review" and this is totally normal.

You can I can both have an article with the same exact focus keyword and that doesn't make us guilty of duplicate content. Duplicate content refers to the actual content within the article. I think there's more to investigate here and Diane brought up some good points to start with.

Keep your head up, Brenda. You'll be just fine. 😎👍🏼

I researched this in Siteliner from Brian Dean's Backlinko article, and I checked for HTTP and HTTPS, and there were no critical issues. Siteliner lists the duplicate content where it is from and how many percentages it means the pages need to be either deleted, redirected, or used a canonical tag to one article, so Diane is right about the content being within my website. I'm still researching this (more to investigate, as you stated) . I did find my content was the same as someone else, and they listed that site, so I have to do a lot of fixes to do here.

Your content was exactly the same as on someone elses website? That sounds like this person just copie pasted yours onto his, bo?

I'm investigating and still trying to figure it out. Siteliner helps to identify and, according to Brain Dean at (formerly BackLinko), now owned by SemRush, discusses duplicate content and how to fix it. I need to find out what this means and how to go about solving this. It's going to take me some time.

Good to know 👍🏼

I'm worried about your class where you take bulletpoints from the competitor and have AI rewrite it though. I had the same idea before I saw your class to do it that way, and the articles looked very simular to the ones from the competition. Wouldnt google find it suspicous when it is exactly the same bulletpoints as from another article, even though it is rephrased?
When you write something naturely, there is never the same things that you write about entirely, but rather a combo of other information on websites, things that you already know as an expert, and the 'people also ask' section. At least I do. And this still takes time.

So in my class what I did wasn’t to take bullet points from another article and rephrase them, I had GPT summarize two other articles top to bottom. I chose personally to list those summaries as bullet points and I instructed the AI to include those points throughout the new article. So there’s no copying of lists here. 😎👍🏼

It’s no different than if you and I both wrote a report on Abraham Lincoln’s life, both our reports will be different while still touching on the exact same major points. And remember, we’re creating these articles to deliver value to our audience, thats our goal.

The great part is that when we feed any info into the article designer it uses that to create the outline which you can further tweak, and then when the full article is created you further tweak and polish from there to make it your own. 💯

I’ll be doing that in the next class on Wednesday. It’s a quick process and allows you to get so much more out of your writing :)

This is bizar. Makes me think to even change my articles more then I already do.

Just as an aside, GSC does not check your posts for duplicate content against other websites.

It can only examine the data on your own website.

So, the duplication is occurring on your own site.

But that doesn't mean the content is the same, but that you might have 2 posts that have a similar URL.

For example, one might end in a slash, and the other doesn't.

Or you might have one version of the post that is HTTP and the other is HTTPS.

But, this doesn't explain your finding as regards the Hubs, of course.

Let me research that. Its doubtful how can it be two versions http and https i need to look closely. Thanks for the tip.

Thats a great point, Diane. I was going through my posts before writing a new one, and found a couple of similar urls.

Fortunately and unfortunately, neither had been indexed and I was able to make changes before they might have faced the same fate as Brenda's did.

Rudy

I'm confused, there is no rule by Google that you cannot use the same keyword. Many people can use the same keyword. Is it the content that is duplicate and not the keyword? For example, I can write promoting WA with the same keyword as you but as long as my content is unique I will get indexed the same as you.

Hi Brenda
We should just be able to pass the information on to Site Support for them to handle. However, that hasn't worked for me yet. They've set up 2 out of 4 required records correctly, but 1 (a TXT record) is still not correct despite going backwards and forwards between Site Support and the Autoresponder provider. A frustrating experience since I have no idea which party is correct.

Since I use Aweber, I got the CNAME records for DKIM from my account with them and Site Support put them in DNS for me.
Aweber made a webinar about this as well.

This is what I got this morning- it does say non-critical issue, but I am wondering what this means.

Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 2 Disc

As you say, it is not a critical issue that will affect indexing

You may read Kyle's comment on the below resource.

Abie,

Thank you so much for the link. I tried it out, and it didn't work. I figured out what the problem was right off the bat. Just as Kyle stated, it's a theme issue. I asked SiteSupport to set up a staging site for my domain so I could test out another theme. Sure enough, GP Premium didn't have the code, and it wouldn't accept the code for the missing author, nor would the plug-in work. The CreativeWork issue lies with GP Premium. I switched to the Kadence theme. I tested the URL on Google Rich Test results; the problem was solved because Kadence theme capabilities solved the missing author (no need for a plugin). Kadence is (out of the box done for your theme) ready for social media without the author's use of plugins, too. My speed went from 70 to 100 percent on mobile and 100 on desktop after switching to Kadence. Now all good problem solved. It's good to know that sometimes a theme has a missing code, and the best solution is to switch to a different theme. I switched my staging site back to my domain using the move feature. I just wanted to share how I solved this issue. Google now has it fixed in GSC!

Thank you for this explanation, Brenda :) MeepMeep.

Alternate page with a proper cano

Sorry, I click delete by accident.

Hey Brenda,

In Google searching the prompt you received, I was issued the following Google support thread: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/59662918/what-does-alternate-page-with-proper-canonical-tag-mean?hl=en

Hope you find this helpful.

Trish, no that doesnt help-it still doesnt tell me anything. I do not understand it at all. Is my site not indexed or indexed a canonical tag means Im not getting traffic and there is nothing there to fix it if I want it as a canonical tag. I dont want a canonical tag at all get it off. I dont know how to do that. Im going to delete and trash my site not worth hassling with this.

Hope the screen prints will help you...

If you prefer, simply Google search your prompt: "alternate page with proper canonical tag" (without the quotation marks, of course).

its beyond my understanding. I want that thing off of my site. so the only way to do this is to delete and start over. I went to YouTube I couldn't find the answer to that. when I checked my URL it says my site is not indexed its not in Google therefore no traffic so my website does not exist in Google's eyes at all.

All I can urge you to do is Google search your prompt and read over what others have stated.

The Google thread says it pretty clear... leastwise, I thought so. I have circled the relevant answer in the 2nd screen print.

Google IS frustrating to say the least. So, I can understand you're getting to feel that way... but if you really want to understand... that's your only option that I can see.

Trish, you're right. Sorry I got frustrated, yes, Google is very nerve-wracking.

I think I found the culprit. Instead of my URL being a home page, it removed a home page and set my home page as a blog, so it has two pages that are the same, which are
.com/home .... .com/blog it's showing my first blog post as my home page that wrong. I have to fix that. GRRR. My home page should be the blog roll, not the blog post. Weird, I have no idea how that happened.

Thanks, Trish for trying to help. I appreciate you trying. I went back to my site. I took a look at the HTML code. HTML code that I do understand! I took HTML a long time ago when the internet started back, I think in 1993 or so after I graduated from University in 90- three years later in Grad school, I had to learn HTML coding. I found the rel=canoncial code there, and that's the culprit. Now I have to go back and fix the HTML code to get it right so I can get it the blog post removed it's not a home page I have no idea why that happened. I think I need go back to my settings to fix it looks like something got switched.

That's okay, Brenda... I totally get your frustration with Google. I've come to use DuckDuckGo for my researching now... due to Google's refusal to include vital info in their SERPs.

I discovered this MONTHS ago with working with Excel. DuckDuckGo serves up resolutions easier and faster.

Wow, thanks for sharing that.

A great browser, I absolutely agree. And very fast.

Browser Jóhann?

If you are referring to my comment on DuckDuckGo... it's a search engine... like Google... only better search results when doing researching for tech support (well, most things, actually).

Sorry, wrong word, my mistake! I used it for a long time and still do from time to time. There was one thing that made me stop using it but it is only 2 days since I was recommended for a friend of mine.

Duck Go Go is a search engine but to use it you have to use the app I got the app today and tested it out. I found no significant difference between Google and Duck Duck Go. They looked the same to me. I removed the app. I use Safari mostly. But likeTrish explains it's probably better for her for technical things that Google doesnt put in their search engine so I will use that when I get stuck only for that purpose.

No need for an app! Just write it in the search bar (or in the URL) and click on the first link.
Then you are in and can start.
Just write it like this DuckGoGo

For me, at least, it is a huge difference. Plus, Google can´t track you, which is something you have a personal right to decide if they track or not!

But I absolutely (almost) hate Safari! Vivaldi was ok, but a long time since I checked it.

Oh good... because I do not want to mislead anyone. Thanks for confirming it as a boo-boo, Jóhann. Much appreciated.

I am an Apple user love Safari but to each its own, I downloaded the app on my MacBook easier for me that way no biggie

Hey Brenda, you use an app for a search engine? Are you using a mobile device, maybe?

If so... aaaaah... LOL, because I just open my browser on my desktop computer and start typing in DuckDuck... in my browser's address bark and poof... their URL appears below, easy for me to click to load.

Mobile devices are painful when you have to add app every time you want to do something, huh.

Hey Jóhann and Brenda... if you ever want to use a Google search WITHOUT being tracked... you can use: startpage.com :-D

Thank you, I did not know about it.

Duck should be free too but there are doubt about it.

It is just a principle, Google has broken many personal rules about the coocies (that is why you can now pay for not getting ads on Facebook, they believe it is a solution after lost cases about others "solutions" but i doubt that is right).

But I will check this out too.

Ah, I understand. The only people I know that praise Safari are Apple!

I promised me many, many years ago that never. ever buy Apple again :)

To each its own. I, too, say the same thing I vowed never to buy a PC again! Im Apple through and through!

Yes, it is a special group that only wants that :)
But the reason I don´t want it is I can´t use it in my sport! Where millions of people play.
I spent a lot of money to change it, but then I found it, the salespeople was just trying to change it on PC so...

Too, because I worked in a company where people could come with damaged computers to fix it. Seeing how it was inside made me harder in my opinion.

But what fits you is great! I learned my lesson! :)

Ok, that's understandable. Each person has their preferences.

I am using GeneratePress Premium on one of my sites as a blog roll.

I have 3 serious major issues with Featured Image

1: The original size would be too large to

Hi - have you resolved this yet?

Do you upload the image in the correct desired size initially, or do you try and change the size in WordPress?

I create the Featured Image in Canva, using the custom size of 700 x 467.

I then download it, click add Featured Image, upload it and that's it.

I never need to do anything else, or resize it, and it fits perfectly.

Yes that is what I use. 700 x467 in Canva then got that yellow thing telling me to resize it to smaller and smaller like I stated. The problem is with mobile speed. It might fit perfectly but Google Core Vitals the image for LCP is bad its at 9.5 speed mobile 40 bad bad. Cant use WP Rocket due to WA server blacklisted. Its paid version no thanks anyway. My only solution is to remove feature image and not use any at all because LCP speed improved after removing feature image its at the top. Where is yours at the top or below the H1? Have you checked your mobile speed? I use third party plug in to help get the lazy loading and lossy image to work but not even that helps with mobile speed.

Ok, I have been thinking and experimenting!

I remembered that Partha and I had a long spell of discussions and testing, coming to the conclusion that GP Premium does not play nicely with WA hosting.

(Our opinion, we have no factual evidence of this).

We had it on 2 sites that continually failed Core Web Vitals.

So, we removed it and went back to the free version.

One of those sites is still hosted here, and that is the first screenshot.

The other site is hosted elsewhere, so, for the purposes of this, I added GP Premium back again, the Marketer option.

See second screenshot.

So, no problems with either of them.

BUT, we do use Imagify, which is not free.

Maybe that accounts for both results, I don't know.

And, just out of curiosity, I deliberately tried to add a huge image as the Featured Image on the GP Premium, and it didn't come up with the errors that you are experiencing.

It just published it in the size I uploaded.

(I note you mentioned to Lizzy that Jay uses the same GP Premium theme. If you mean his movie website, he does not host that here...)

I can't see the screenshots of this on my iPhone. I have to open my MacBook Pro. I was not talking about Jay’s ifilmthings. I know he hosts elsewhere with that and has three other writers on his team. I am referring to his WA niche affiliateresources site; that's the one he said GP Premium Marketer. I have this same problem with Kadence on my PPC site with the featured image. It is the same problem: it doesn't fit the container. It’s not the theme.

Maybe there's a big bug somewhere. I did remove all my plugins. I did the featured image with the same results; it does not fit the container, and LCP has a much worse speed. All third-party plugins for images do not work. Imagify is what Frank uses for his guitar niche, and it's not free, as you said. I am not going to pay for it.

I guess my solution is just no featured images for both sites. Period! I am tired of hassling with the LCP mobile speed. I'm not doing it anymore. Featured images stay off! I have the photo below the headline, and all other pictures in the post are fine. No yellow interference tells me it doesn't fit the container. It only does that with the featured image. That is the biggest problem I can't solve except by removing it. Stephen Thiam wrote his response. Do you understand what he's talking about? I don't at all.

i have the same with my africa site, pictures still look distored on mobile, while both are gp premium.
Two things are different: hosts (one wa, one other), the distorted one is WA hosting.
BUT also on the first one, I never used any template from gp premium, I just did my own colors a bit and menus/design, etc, while on the second one I did use a template. When using a template of them, all codes look different and more complicated, so it could be beause of that as well I think.
Will contact gp again and see what else I should change, but I'm not sur this time it is due to the hosting, because my africa site still hosted here, actually stil has a great speed, to my surprise, but there are not over a 100 posts yet :-)

While doing so research for this issue, I discovered that GP premium images conflict with the WP media sizes, and therefore GP image size options are now aligned with WordPress.

That was a surprise to me. I'm on my phone, right now, and will get on computer to find the link to share.

Rudy

It looks like WA hosting is to blame for speed issues. We can't even use WP Rocket; must host elsewhere. I do not have the funds for that. I did try Imagify. My LCP is no better it's 79 with Imagify. See screenshots. One with Imagify for featured image. Without a featured image with Imagify still on my site, there is not much improvement; the speed is about 87.

I have the speed set on Extreme Speed. Not even that works. I removed Imagify, and then the speed got worse after that, so it defeated the purpose. I have decided to give it up. Im done with this stuff. As long as my sites are hosted here, Mobile speed will always SUCK! That's my conclusion. I tried the free version of GP- the same issue. Nothing changes.

Yes, there is some thibgs WA hosting can hinder.

I would consider looking for other options than WP Rocket.

At WA, we can't use the optimize tool that WP Optimize offers, so I feel your pain, Brenda!

Rudy

Rudy,

You are right about that! There are no other options. I tried everything under the clouds( there is no sun here in PNW at this time of the year), but nothing worked. So yes, painful as it is, mobile speed will always be bad because of WA hosting issue. They need to improve it. StephenThiam recommended this plugin, I dont see how that will help with images.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/

to be clear: you have no ads on your website, right? And just to ask (to compare), how many blog posts do you have on your site at the moment?
Because earlier for my mini site , the problems with speed started around 150 posts if I remember well.
And then I started using wp rocket, which definitely helped, but starting adds on it, I had to change hosting
But on the other hand, and to my surprise, my second site the speed is great, and I use lots of pictures and videos on it, and the same plugins or even more than on my first site, BUT there are only about 80 posts on it yet
I've heard 'through the grapevine' that issues with speed begin after about 100 blog posts, on average. No clue if that's true or not, so Kyle shouldn't bite the messenger :-p #justsaying

I would like to see that link though if you can. It is all so weird, because I have no problems at all with my first site from GP premium, but I do have them on my second site, also from gp premium. The only difference there is that I use a template.

So you don´t keep it in the media library! Interesting.
But what about things like alt texts? Are there no problem with this method?

When you click Add Featured Image, it asks you to upload it to the Media Library.

And then you can add Alt Text as normal

Kyle recommended not to use WP Rocket here as that didn´t fit enough for the system in WA. I don´t remember the words.

I used Imagfy, but it was something I was not happy about, so I changed for a second time to Short Pixel.

But Short Pixel is far from being perfect. The image seems to be reduced there, so that is the reason I changed back.

I have the feeling the problem is here but I don´t know. Because the performance changed some time ago and hasn´t come up again.

Great! I tried that; thanks again!

GeneratePress Theme Featured Image Size Problem

Here's the link: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/generatepress-theme-featured-image-size-problem/

Rudy

We started to see problems at 10k visitors per month, rather than the number of posts.

Under the new rules introduced a year ago, websites were restricted to a lower number of visitors.

But if we are grandfathered in, then supposedly no change.

But how can they restrict some sites and not others if they happen to be on the same server?

#sayingnothing

Right, there are no ads on my site. I remember you telling me about WP Rocket; you mentioned changing hosting. I remember that one too.

I have two websites my MMO niche (affiliate boot camp) promoting WA. The second one is for a paid-per-click site for Microsoft Ads that promotes WA with no SEO; it's mainly a PPC site for that purpose.

I started with Microsoft Ads. I did get some traffic, but no conversions. I stopped my PPC ads because they were getting expensive. I didn't want to run out of money that I didn't have. My late hubby would flip in his grave if he found out I blew the money away. He was a strict army guy who was on target for budgeting. I learned that from him. As a result, as a widow for seven years, he taught me well. Never blow money away and have nothing to show for it.

Im following Partha's latest post about creating unique posts promoting WA. I have about five or fewer on the new WA promotion site. I did everything wrong in the past with the boot camp. I did not like writing reviews about targeting a company with a right to exist, like calling it a scam when it is not. All businesses have a right to exist. I didn't want to write those kinds of reviews. They were taught in the previous Affiliate Bootcamp.

Now the Boot camp has been revamped and is better, the focus is on the WA platform rather than reviews. I trashed that site; it got hit by Google updates a couple of years ago, and then I decided to destroy it. I wasn't happy with my review site.

That's too bad that WP Rocket is blacklisted here. Someone did say I can ask Site Support for that. I am not sure about that. We have to buy it as it's not free. Wa hosting has its cache system, and my speed setting is on Extreme.

Thanks for sharing your experience; everyone has different problems.

I went to look at Partha's Men's exercise site. it's on GP, and he got a lot of images there. Where is the Prince when I need him? I checked his Google Core Vitals; his speed on mobile is 89, and he still has LCP issues while using the paid version of Imagify. His LCP is 3.2, so it is no different than mine. Same issues. he hosted here in WA. He's got many articles on that site. So it doesn't matter it's a WA hosting speed issue with mobile, so therefore, IT SUCKS!

That doesnt help.

My traffic is just beginning, so it's not my traffic; it's the dang hosting issue at WA; that mobile speed will always be an issue. I checked Partha's men's body exercise site; his mobile speed isn't better than mine. It's about the same; he is 89, and LCP is high because of images, so maybe Partha isn't bothered by mobile, but I am significantly concerned about it because many people are doing mobile these days. #itsucks

Johann, you are right we can't have WP Rocket conflicts with the hosting here. So my conclusion is that Wa hosting will always have mobile issues, WA servers need to be upgraded to help our mobile speed, so no matter what my mobile speed will never be better with or without images. #itsucks

Did you get the chance to look at my screenshots I posted earlier?

The site that is hosted here, has 145 posts with lots of images, a video in every post, network ads on every page, and 8k visitors per month.

But it passes the Core Web Vitals and no problems with LCP.

I do agree that there could be problems with the hosting here, but it's not across the board.

I just don't have an answer for you, unfortunately...

Sigh! 🥺😢

Im going to try what Jovo suggested last chance

Brenda, one quick thing though, before I go to bed: speed on mobile of 89 is not bad at all,and I wouldn't be frustrated about that at all, for the moment, let it rest. I was severely worried back then because it was all the way down in the red zone (30-40%). Now THAT hurt my site back then severely. My mobile speed is now 89 on mobile as well on my miniature site, and it is hosted elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure if I would remove the adds, it would go up.
But again, 89 on mobile is NOT something to worry about! The latest google update was not about speed at all either, we had that update before last year, when I got hit a first time and after I fixed that, the traffic grew immensely. the latest update, well, nobody actually seems to know for sure what's going on with Google, that I call frustrating as hell haha!
The LCP issue however, that I don't know, I have 2,1s.
( I can imagine that being a host thing, but as I said, on the other hand, the Africa site still hosted here, has perfect numbers, on mobile as well. I don't get it.
We should get some more lessons about those technical things here, because it has been driving me mad in the past for sure. Such a waste of time.
And for sure, I don't like wasting money either and thats why I will let the pp membership end here and go back to premium, because for now, I don't feel like I'm getting anything out of the classes in it, and the difference actually pays for the other hosting LOL.
The platform itself is way better for sure, for beginners. If you are in the money making online niche , theres bucks to be made by promoting WA. I know that, but my passion isn't in it, so that doesn't work either, not in the long term.
Just my 2 cents

aaaaah, that probably explains that i have no problems yet with my africa site, lol! thanks

not just not recommended, but totally block it. And to me, that doesnt make sense, although I could ask for an exception. They know that people are paying for these plugins, why block them or make them (partly) unusable?

Final thought!

Are you using a social media plugin?

They can dramatically slow down your site, especially if you have the settings to add the icons above your content.

Which is a bit pointless anyway, lol.

Until visitors have read your post, why would they want to share it?

If the server is trying to load clickable icons before text, then it will take longer.

And some plugins are worse than others, hence why Add to Any is now blacklisted here.

No social media plugins, heck they dont even work. I use the old method (old school) of adding my social media icons via HTML code on my website. That works, no plugins like Sassy Social; it doesnt work for me. I have removed it. The Icons are below my greetings. They are small social icons with no effect. My plugins are not that many; most are GP, GenerateBlocks, Rank Math Pro (no cookies, removed that too,) do have Google Tag manager, Google fonts that slow site down from Rank Math for Google Analytics, and no Site Kit, just Rank Math, I know how you guys feel about not using any SEO plugins. I still use them so does Jay. Im keeping it. Let me try Jovo's way and see if it works

GP Premium is not an issue, hosted here. Jay's movie site was a collaboration project with an external company, and he purchased that off of that company recently, that is why it was hosted elsewhere. Not sure your constant motivation to slag our hosting?

It made complete sense because some software can´t use this or that.
And WA explained it well, but I have forgotten why it was.

Kyle, I said it's a WA Hosting issue, not Diane. I tried everything I could not fix my featured image to no avail. Now, my mobile speed is 95 without a featured image. I was using Imagify, for compression, but not even that worked.

I went from 40 with a featured image to 95 without one. I am better off its GP Premium Marketer. I have the same problem on my PPC Site with the Kadence theme, so I removed it.

I wish our WA hosting speed would improve for mobile users. We need services like WP Rocket, but it's blacklisted in WA. I dont understand why.

I have my speed set on extreme still featured image at 700x497, which still produces a high LCP of about 9.7, and mobile speed to 40. No thanks. I removed it, and now my mobile speed is above 95, and my desktop is 100, all are 100 desktops, that's much better.

Why do we need a feature image? I see no purpose in having it if it will cause slow speed on mobile.

How many people are using mobile today? A lot! High percentage.

We need a better speed for mobile if using a featured image.

What is your speed for your website, Kyle? Please let me know how to fix it so my mobile speed will be above the green level instead of below that.

Sorry if I said it's WA hosting; I know you will feel defensive about it I understand. It's my blunt thinking. My bad, I apologize for saying that. I concluded because I could not find any other problem that would cause speed issues; I have Google Tag Manager and Google font that also cause slowing speed, and the same goes for Site Kit. I removed Site Kit, and I'm thinking about removing Google analytics and going with independent analytics because that does not have Javascript javascript and css cause slowing speed. If you know the solution, I will listen and try to fix it instead of getting mad about it.

if I could afford the Enterprise to get my own dedicated server I wouldn't have this issue right?

Sorry, it is so many posts it started to be a little confusing, so I am not sure you had talked about it.
So just to be 100% sure!

I have had this problem for the last few weeks and simply don´t understand it (I use feature images and still do).
I have always cleared cache regularly.

So tonight, after all this discussion, I decided to do that just to be sure.
Then I saw that somehow important things had changed without I knowing about it!

I always use extreme, but it has changed to accelerate! Without I know about it.

So I did fix that and check the speed. A few seconds later, the Google speed went from last week's 40-55 to 84/85! And similar in the posts even so I need to check them better. I need to see the best way to use Canva for the format, and it was very different than it should be when I checked it!

So to be safe than sorry, I wanted to check if it was on extreme or went to accelerate.

Mine is on Extreme speed. Same here. I use Canva for my photo featured image so mobile speed to 84/85 is still slow Im sure your LCP (largest content paint). is high because of the featured image. Did you look at your LCP in Page Speed Insights (Google Core Vitals). I want my mobile speed not to be slow because of slow loading photos. After I removed it all. Now my speed is 95 and LCP is 1.8 because no featured image showing on the blog roll under excerpt "read more" no photos there so that bumped up my mobile speed higher. If people want to see image they click read more then my images on inside the post but nothing at top and nothing until after the introduction.

I'm having the same trouble, analytics suggests removing WP plugins bit I only have a couple, 5 plugins in total, have an optimizer and a lazy load which Google suggested...still no change to the analytics !

it is just positive criticism, Kyle, I have wasted months on trying to improve my mobile speed and even though I got 'an exception' for WP rocket, WA still didn't have me fully use it. Whenever contacting site support, I got blown off or pointed to a blog post that was useless (yes, I did everything people here said, everything, I have wasted months on this).
I'm sorry but site support basically wasn't doing me any good. Ever since I switched hosting for my miniature site,
I have no more speed issues at all ànd other issues, like multiple times the site down (whenever I noticed it was down).
I really got mad, just like Brenda and so many others (we were pm'ing about these matters too), and I contacted you as well back then, but somehow got ignored (did it end up in your pm? no clue).
We feel like we didn't get any help at all from site support, that is really the way it is!
Site support told me basicly that 'hosting at WA, you don't need WP rocket'. If that was the case, my mobile speed would have still be at 30-40%, that was just a fact, sorry!

If that is 'slagging', I'm sorry but we felt left behind. And calling it "slagging", is like emotional blackmail to me, please take this seriously!
So I switched hosting. (the other hosting even helped me better before I switched than site support here ever did).
You can now silence me, but that is my story about site speed, and please don't tell me that I have probably done something wrong or didn't follow any advice here.
Lizzy

the thing is that they decided to block wp rocket without our consent, while LOTS of people were PAYING for this plugin and it was working fine to get the speed up! and other things were NOT working! Other hosts do NOT do that at all, they work with what you have on your site and adapt to it! The other host that I am at now, adjusted WP rocket according to their hosting and it works fine now, no more speed issues at all!

Good for you Lizzy! 👍🏻 im coming to this same conclusion need to start looking elsewhere for speed issue. I tried doinh Frank’s way he explained to make photos thumbnail size as blog roll and he got his up to 90s by contrast mine had opposite results worse mobile speed i found thay unacceptable s as bd its too small to even see the image moot point. I guess no photos except inside my post. I dont know how to fix it. Im totally frustrated and mad 😡 better without even if photos are best for SEO mobile speed will never get to where I want it to be. Going from one extreme to another just doesnt work. I tried autooptimize that didnt even budge my mobile speed so sounds like many of is have these issues. Sigh. 😔 figuring this out is hard now I understand what you went through.

👍🏻 sounds like I need to search for that. I did some research last night. I need the business hub its what I appreciate. Maybe I need consult with an expert. I did diane’s and partha way to try gp free version on my staging site no change same results get these yellow boxes telling me to resize. Im going to need to sit this out take a breather here.

Yes it can be frustrating, my issue is with featured image connected to mobile speed with Google page speed insights which is Google Core Vitals and thats not tge same for Google analytics. This is focused on mobile speed i hope your speed on mobile is good mines not.

Thanks! I might get a silence-ban for this, but I really did everything in 'the books' to get it up, reading every blog post on it here, taking every possible advice.
Downsized all featured images, one by one, doing some every day, checked out all the plugins that could have held my speed back, other old blog posts saying do this and do that, but none of it helped.
All the response that I got from site support was: our hosting is fine, it's not our fault. That wasn't helpful at all, it was a very frustrating period in time, it depleted on energy and what we are here for, and that is blogging, blogging, and blogging. Not having to worry about these technical issues which are way over our heads.
Other SEO gurus were all over this last year with the google update, it is of course not the most important thing, but it IS after all a CORE vital thing. Google isn't going to rank you, if somewhere in this world your site doesn't load or takes forever to load.
There was one teacher here even saying: 'when you look at it visually with your own eyes and it looks fine, then it is 'fine'. That is just not true, what HE sees in his part of the world, is not what others see in another part of the world! And boy, do I know that, because I live in a part of Belgium with very bad 4G and it can basically get very frustrating to load something on 4G.
I have noticed that the teachers here are not gods who know everything and are right about everything. But most of them who promote WA, will deny this of course. But I am not in the money making niche, and neither do I promote WA, so I can be neutral about this.
Just thinking about that period, and I get all mad again, to be honest.
I feel your frustration!

Yes, I get it. That helps. I'm going through this. You said your piece. I got it. Now, I'm just going to leave it as it is. Mobile speed improved to 90’s without the featured image. Jovo is right about the disabled feature. Set it only as a blog roll making it as small as possible like logo size 50x50, so that images can't be seen at all. It is too tiny, too small and besides it didn't improve mobile speed at all. The largest content paint was high if images are 50 by 50. I removed it. LCP numbers lower by about 1.8 mobile speed 90, so the image issue causes slow speed rate for mobile regardless of the size. I checked on my iPhone slowly and couldn't see the image. It is not worth it as you say. I understand where you are coming from. I'm leaving off do more research I saw some use a one long hero image with just color and blog post at the top I wonder if that improves speed kadence has that imvgoibgvto check

mines speed insights too, and no, its not great

I have twice been at another hosting. First, before I knew about WA, I was with big hosting (Blue something), and they were really bad.
Second, was it a try in cooperation here.
I must say I will not go again personally. I am not saying you are wrong; you know what best suits you.
But my experience is that I will be here, but of course, there are always pros and cons.
I was using WP Rocket but stopped doing that after the same advice as you got. But I still remain it inactive as I will need to pay for a new if I start using it again.
But my speed was horrible.
Not because the hosting (at that time there was big pressure on me from a company I bought some service but I didn´t) was the problem but because the theme I used was horrible.
I had used it for many years, but it was getting worse and worse.
So the day after, the speed went up about 20-30.
Then I decided to stop using Ezoic even though I was selling ads because a) I put all under getting the sell, so I Wanted a better user experience. And B) the ads slow down the speed.
Again, after I stopped using Ezoic, the speed jumped up, and I had green.
Last week, it went down, but I am not sure why. We are working on that.
So that is my experience.

Ezoic really was a disaster, I know, but I am now with Monumetrics, and by using WP rocket and other hosting, my speed stays fine. Including the ads on it

Thats good to know. Glad its better for you! As you say let it stay that way! 😀

Lizzy, I totally agree with you on your SiteSupport view.

Just putting that out there.

I did try SiteSupport, no help for that. Just told me to resize it. I've done everything to do it still my mobile speed was not good at all. Now I am working on fixing it with another way. I am hoping I can get my featured images back on my post.

Yes Brenda, I was agreeing with Lizzy about how the support SiteSupport offers can be very underwhelming at times.

It's a very interesting conversation you brought about, because I'm sure many are having the same problem.

My speed is not in the red, but it can still use a lot of help. LCP issues were always a thing for me.

Thank you for your useful question.

👍

Hi! Brenda,

I think you are looking for qualifying the Core Web Vitals for the Home page and each post page of your website.
Image size for feature image or content should be similar to a website. You can use the image dimension recommended by anyone because almost the same. Just make sure it is compressed lighter below 35KB and use the free WP Optimize plugin to do the last compress for each image. You can also use it for assets clean up. But disabled all other functions. Tell you why later.
I use this free link, https://bulkresizephotos.com/en to redo all my images to get rid all image errors from GSC. Image Optimize plugin owners are not reliable, every dollar you paid has a limit and you have no control. Get rid of them like GSC errors.

To qualify for the Core Web Vitals, you have to remember one rule, our website has big impact from the WA server. What WA already supports our website has to be transparent. WA support CSS/Js minify and CACHE but not the HTTP/2 which is a norm used by many hosts. We have to keep this in mind to avoid a double service conflict each other.

WP Rocket is number one, but it is not accepted by WA. But AUTOPTIMIZE match with the WA server very well. It helps optimize Js/CSS, aggregate Js/CSS, eliminate render blocking CSS, optimize HTML code, lazy load image, set lazy load start after the 2nd or 3rd image, preload every feature images of the post type (this can solve your mentioned issue by GSC), auto generate critical CSS, save aggregated script/CSS as static files, minify excluded CSS and JS files, enable 404 fallbacks, enable configuration per post/ page, delay all Google tag Js, delay timed out set at 5 sec, enable instant page, remove Google fonts, but disabled cache and image optimization & CDN. Test your Home page speed in sight. Plugin owner address - "frank goossens" . Very friendly and response fast. Do not use his propose settings, because WA doesn't support HTTP/2.

You may need plenty of time to redo all the images in your website using the free link. Do not do any image size change on your website, it will add extra HTTP file.

I hope these feedbacks answer your needs and give you some ideas to develop your website.

Stephen, I do not understand all of the technical stuff you mentioned. I do have the Google tag manager, google fonts, all that cause page speed slowing down in the core vital speed for mobile its so low its making me mad. 😡 anything technical you said I’ now more frustrated and 😡! I dont even know how to exclude those.

Once I removed the feature image Google Core Vital speed for mobile went up from 40 to 87-89 sonetimes 90, deaktop good 100. Tag nanager, google fonts cause slow too its annoying. I removed site Kit I use Rank Math Pro analytics is included with Rank Math.

I know nothing about how to do all that its just way too technical for me. I never used CSS. I don't even know how to do it. My final answer to this is to just not use feature images at all.

Photo will be below my headline that works well but not at the top above the headline the LCP 9.5 at 700x 467 is too large for the container. I used tinypng to convert in Webp not even that works.

If I have to pay for the plugin no thanks aint gonna do it. I do not get the last part. So are you saying I need to use AutoOptimize by Frank Gossens? Im not paying for it if its a paid plugin cant afford anything.

Hi! Brenda,
You are not alone feel mad about the feature image. I have gone through the struggling like you. I go through many discussions with Frank but not able to get solved. Then I ask Google, the best setting for AUTOPTIMIZE, I try each settings proposed from the Google search, the 3rd one settings are totally different from others but it gives a flying score of 98-99.

Feature image issue on GSC can be solved by using one similar image size and compressed it below 35KB. After Google updates, all feature images become LCN image, the only way to solve is preload it using AUTOPTIMIZE or any other plugin having the similar function. To redo all image sizes and compressed it to the lightweight use the free link https://bulkresizephotos.com/en is certainly a tight job with thousand of images. Once is done, the website is stable without the needs of any image optimizing plugin and CDN. That is why the best settings of AUTOPTIMIZE need to disable the image optimization and CDN support. The writer sharing this setting information suffers a lot from the image optimizer plugin, giving him all the funny proposals to get rid of page speed error.

What I told you in the earlier mail is the capability of AUTOPTIMIZE plugin, you do not need to know the technical background but just tick the box to answer yes. Here is the link I get from Google, https://findmytricks.com/autoptimize-best-settings-configuration-for-wordpress/. No technical is required. Test page speed to view

I know is the difficult task to make you fully understand how I go through the same struggling like you. Anyway, there is may way to solve the Core Web Vitals.

Core Web Vitals & PageSpeed Booster, By Magazine3 can give your website good result, but the website robot.txt file becomes invalid and they pretend cannot solve because I do not want to go pro. I do not recommend them.

You have to decide what to do next. And sincerely I do not have intention to make you more frustrated.

My intention is telling you:
- The featured image can be solved by a similar size for a website and compress it.
- LCN image needs to preload and avoid the lazy load.
- WA server has the main impact to our website, plugin helps any service need for Core Web Vitals that is not able to provide by WA.
- AUTOPTIMIZER has all the services not able to provide by WA.

That's all I can explain. I hope this message makes you better.

I had gone through all of that personally, and resized all of my featured images one by one (man that took some time) with bulkresizer, all under 80kb. That still didn't work good enough! It wasn't until using WP rocket that things cleared up and most definitely after switching hosts.
Now, I can even just leave the images at 200_300 kb, without having to spend the time to resize them, what a relief!

Stephen, I did do the bulksizephotos. You were right. 😀👍That worked marvelously. However, I could not keep the featured image in the post because of mobile speed even when I got it down to 10kb. The mobile rate was at 40 when I reduced it. I checked the featured image as disabled on the post, but it shows up on the blog roll and thumbnail size for a recent post.

My follow up post I am unable to follow the instructions at

https://findmytricks.com/autoptimize-best-settings-configuration-for-wordpress/

Because the photos are broken links, there are no photos there. It looks empty, and because of that, I cannot follow its instructions.

Do you have something better for me to follow? For the AUTO OPTIMIZE?

I got the bulk size down, so that was effective. Thank you, then. Imagify helped to make it more compressed.

It is a smaller size, 210X 139 something for the blog roll, but on my post, it was too small, and a yellow thing came up saying it was too small for the container. If I have it at 700x497, that's fine. It fits, but the problem is that mobile speed drops so severely.

I want to test AUTO OPTMIZe, but it won't let me because I do not want to check off the wrong thing due to a newbie goof. Without the photos on that site, I can't follow them, so can you guide me somewhere with something similar or contact that writer to let them know that their photos are broken and not working? It is empty; I can't see anything there. Can you?

Hi! Brenda,
I have screenshot it in 12 image files so you can follow easily.
You can see there are many works done by the Autoptimize for our website. I regret paying Pro to the AIOSEO but not Autoptimize.
Another issue is the YouTube videos on the post can bring down our page speed on each page display. You can solve using an image with the YouTube Video link. Look the same and effect the same without dropping the page speed.
If your website used a lot of plugins, you have checked any conflict between them.
My plugins are GP, GP Pro, AIOSEO Pro, Site Kit, Autoptimer Pro.

Thank you, you're so sweet! 😀 👍

Hi! Lizken,

WP Rocket is a number plugin for me, but not accept by WA. So I use Autoptimer follow my WA coach.
It is great to hear you can use a 200-300KB image, have you tested page speed for each post?

I do not have Site Kit. I have Rank Math Pro. My Google analytics is through Rank Math Pro SEO, Imgify plugin GP Premium and Generate Blocks, Anti-Bee Spam, and that's about it. I haven't gotten GP Pro yet. I have Kadence on my other site. No. YouTube embeds or is attached to my site. Just photos and screenshots, I will work on that right away.

No video, no problem. I used GP Premium like you just my memory error. Other plugins can be handled by Autoptimize.

You are one of the senior member helpful to others. I feel guilty if not sharing with you.
I know my difficulty to express clearly so I spend a long time to make the first draft for you, but too bad, it is lost due to my wrong click to divert out from the page.
I feel release now and thankful to Jesus, you are not struggling now.

No i havent for each post, that would require to much time, as long as your general speed on mobile is ok,thats fine. Only if you have posts loaded with videos, like I have a few, that might become a concern, but then I just make multiple posts on the same topic and link them to eachother

Stephen, you have this on pro setting mine does not show that. After JSS CSS HTML, what is next is image, critical css, extra, optimize more, and page cache. On setting 3, am I supposed to save change, and empty the cache since the WA server already has a cache, so I didn't want to break this site. You have a pro version, I dont, so the rest from setting 4 to 12 won't work unless I buy the pro version. I can't follow, so I dont know whats next in image and other areas. I got everything except to cache didnt want to touch it, did you use save and cache. site support said caching is not allowed with wa server.

For Pro, I disabled the image functions because all images already lighter below 35KB. Save and clear cache is needed. I also clear cache WA extreme setting.
Without Pro, you still can go on to set other settings, which are important. Pro is $79 per year, you can discuss with Frank for free trial or some discount, he has 100% authority to decide himself.
I hope the answer is useful to you.

Ok thank you. Stephen, it didnt help I used it and didnt change a thing really only thing that worked to bump up mobile speed was not to use any featured images at all. Its weird. It didnt make my speed go up any different its still low . Other plugings can weigh it down so its possible. I have to figure this out on my own on my staging site.

Hello Brenda! Oddly, I've never experienced this before, thankfully, which is weird, I've never had any issues with inserting a feature image in WP, and I use GP Premium.

WP/ GP premium has never made a fuss about inserting an image, in terms of its size, etc.

The only thing I can think of that I have, that may be helping to ensure it isn't an issue is that I use the Shortpixel image optimizer plugin.

Other than that, I've never had any issues. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be, though.

I've had similar frustrations when trying to do other technical processes in WP. When it's complex or a little maddening, it's not fun, I understand.

I know I can't be of much help, but, best of luck, I hope you rectify these issues soon! Sending you positive vibes! :)

Hi Cal, Aw, thats sweet of you. I used the Shortpixel plug in didn't do a thing; I used many different plugs, but nothing helped. I do not get it. I'm following everything except to say that perhaps there is something technical that I need to do better. Thanks for the support anyway! 😀👍

Hi Brenda
Are you using a template from gp as well or have just build your own layout?
On my miniature site I dont have any issues whatsoever with these heading pictures, they always fit nicely.
But using a template on my Africa site still does this a little bit, even after changing things, I just noticed ,well on mobile at least. Guess ill have to ask gp again grr.
But never did i get yellow boxes though, that would be much worser.
What I do for every headings is use canva and it's presentation template, creat the picture and upload it so on my non-templated mini site that works fine, on my other site not so well. But that template is full of clutter to make the theme look nice, and dont want to change the template cause I love it lol.

So it depends, have you used a template or not? Then you should probably mention to gp which one you used.

Hi Lizzy, see the screenshot

I use the GP Premium Marketer theme, which is the same as Jay uses. On my other site using Kadence, the same thing happens see this post as an example, I white out everything for privacy reasons and show you what mine looks like. When I change it to that size smaller, it looks so small cant even see it well.

hi brenda, sorry been away all day and now writing from my laptop in the car, as a passenger, hope it will get through and the connection holds lol
Additional CSS is easily done on gp premium, go to customize=> all the way below you can see custom css, just place the code in there, see screenshot.
If things would get messed up, just remove it again

additional css

That is beyond my comprehension. I will leave it as it is for now. Just do nothing about it and move on. Just no more featured images, that's it.

How frustrating, Brenda!

There are many variables for this, and I have not found any yellow box alerts warning me of any image size errors.

If you have addressed this already in a reply, I will go back through.

If not, what can you tell me about the yellow box alert/warning. Is that from an image plugin you are using?

Thanks,

Rudy

No Rudy, it's not resolved other than to remove the featured image all together and not have any photos shown in recent posts or in blog roll. That part I do not get. No matter what I do nothing works.

Which website is this for? Is it on your profile? I can take a look. I also use GP premium....

Here is a screenshot as an example of what it looks like have you seen this before? I white out everything for privacy. Im not ready to show this due to people copying me. I have had people copying my content several times over the years, so Im not doing it anymore I took it off from my profile page.

I am using the GP Premium Marketer theme. When I change the size to what the container shows, in green, it won't be happy with it, telling me even to make it smaller to 67x62, which is outrageously small for a featured image.

Ive never seen that before with GP Premium.

What image optimize plugin are you using?

Rudy

Smush, do you think that causing it. I tried Kraken, Kraken didn't work either still had the same image problem no matter which plug in. Ive used all different plugins same results with these too big for container

Try deactivating the plugin to see if that changes anything.

ok let me try that.

Nope, that didn't work; in fact, it made it worse. Now my mobile speed dropped to 40, and with Smush, it was 70, and at 40, it shows my LCP is 9.7 what the heck? That unacceptable. The yellow thing is still there, telling me not to fit the container. I give up Im too tired to deal with this tonight.

Reactivate the plugin. Get some rest and we can try to figure this out tomorrow!

Plus, clear your cache from computer and through WA. That can be the cause for many problems.

Rudy

I'm confused here, it's been a while since i used something from gp premium, when you say "marketer theme", is that a particular template from their database? Because I really do think that this is the issue here, as my heading pictures are only distorted on mobile there as well, not on desktop, they just dont fit. If you see the codes and designs in 'customize', you can see how complicated these templates are. And it sometimes depends on changing things in there (measurments, 'paddings', scales,..)
Although I have never seen anything like you are seeing. So I would really insist on placing that extra css code , give it a try!
OR, ask site support to do it for you and really INSIST that they do it for you! Even after saying no at first, trust me! Say that you PAY for support! (other hosts do that for you as well)

Help with featured image?

asked in
Website Development & Programming

Here's Article title -
GeneratePress Theme Featured Image Size Problem
