Hi Peeps!

This is what I got in my email. This came through from About ME and it has my email under my domain name.

This worm is exactly what I get everyday and I am getting sick of it. I delete it over and over. It still whithers through, like a snake ready to attack.

Do I think its real? Its like a threat, and asking me for a ransom claims my website is hacked and now I gotta pay for it out of Bitcoins?

Believe this or not?

I removed my domain name from here because its not ready to be activated yet.

AND:

I REMOVED THE LINKS SO NOBODY CAN CLICK IT.

----------------------------------------------------------

"Name: Wilfredo Bibb"

"Message: PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO SOMEONE IN YOUR COMPANY WHO IS ALLOWED TO MAKE IMPORTANT DECISIONS!"

"We have hacked your website; and extracted your databases."

"How did this happen?"

"Our team has found a vulnerability within your site that we were able to exploit. After finding the vulnerability we were able to get your database credentials and extract your entire database and move the information to an offshore server."

"What does this mean?"

"We will systematically go through a series of steps of totally damaging your reputation. First your database will be leaked or sold to the highest bidder which they will use with whatever their intentions are."

"Next if there are e-mails found they will be e-mailed that their information has been sold or leaked and your site was at fault thusly damaging your reputation and having angry customers/associates with whatever angry customers/associates do."

"Lastly any links that you have indexed in the search engines will be de-indexed based off of blackhat techniques that we used in the past to de-index our targets."

"How do I stop this?"

"We are willing to refrain from destroying your site\'s reputation for a small fee. The current fee is $2000 USD in bitcoins (BTC)."

"Send the bitcoin to the following Bitcoin address"

"Once you have paid we will automatically get informed that it was your payment."

"Please note that you have to make payment within 5 days after receiving this notice or the database leak, e-mails dispatched, and de-index of your site WILL start!"

"How do I get Bitcoins?"

"You can easily buy bitcoins via several websites or even offline from a Bitcoin-ATM. We suggest you www.com for buying bitcoins."

"What if I don’t pay?"

"If you decide not to pay, we will start the attack at the indicated date and uphold it until you do, there’s no counter measure to this, you will only end up wasting more money trying to find a solution."

"We will completely destroy your reputation amongst google and your customers."

"This is not a hoax, do not reply to this email, don’t try to reason or negotiate, we will not read any replies."

"Once you have paid we will stop what we were doing and you will never hear from us again!"

"Please note that Bitcoin is anonymous and no one will find out that you have complied."

------------------------------------------------

UNBELIEVABLE!

What is my next step? Remove the About ME and no emails. See if that dumb snakes will stop withering through. I never had problems with my other domain at another site.

This only happens on WA.

I have been trying to prove that there is a flaw in our WA mail server and I got to put a stop to it.

Scammers and spammers are annoying part of the Internet world today.

Please do not be fooled and be a sucker. I aint gonna fall for this. This is so dumb.

Also the English looks a little bad. Not properly written so its

SCAM ALERT

Tell me what y'all think? Eh?

This is a "hacking business". Its a scam to get you to send them money. You don't know to who you are sending the money.

If you fall for this you will be a repeat "customer" for those scammers.

And, if it were for real the hack, What guarantee you have that they will clear things. There is no guarantee.

Agreed. I may be Deaf, but I am definitely not stupid! My gut was just that it was just a scam like we see everyday in this world.

It's not WA. All sites and hosts can be a victim of spammy or scammy contact messages.

I have 2 websites. One of them uses WPForms and invisible captcha and it was BOMBING me with spam and scams.

The other uses Contact form 7 and invisible captcha, and I've gotten ONE spammy message.

I get a spam comment occasionally too. My personal address gets about 20 a day from various sources.

It's just... the internet. WA hosting had no way to keep people and bots from using your contact form at all.

I solved my problem by removing my contact form on the site I was having problems with. I will probably use contact form 7 as WPForms apparently don't use captcha as well.

Boom, no more problems.

Though if you think your site has been hacked. Contact Site Support.

Site Support stated it's just spam email. That's good to know. I too had trouble with the captcha plugin. I removed mine. My website doesnt even have contact form so it connects through email. I thought it was from About Me page but Site Support clarified that it was from the Privacy Policy page where my email is listed. I removed that email as of ladt night. Thanks for sharing your experience with me. That helps me to understand more about one of the evils of the Internet and the world today with scam artists and hackers. Its everywhere like you said. I realize that now. A rude awakening indeed.

I read the exact same message from another member last week, they reported to site support who said do not worry your website has not been compromised despite the claim.

Like you mentioned I think this maybe something WA need to look at, because I have no doubt you won’t be the last ....🙄

Thanks for sharing. Yes, its a relief to know its just that spam and scam artist. Delete done.

hi Brenda

yes, i think WA tech support need to ready check whether their hosting is compromised or not as one of my site the contact us page also have a lot of these nonsense so I took down the contact us page.

the worry is there might be malware embedded in this type of email and created a lot of problems.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Thanks Chee for responding. Yah about me page can be removed it isn’t necessary. It came from my privacy policy page where my email is listed. There is no form added there. Just starting to build my site. I abandoned it a year ago because I became stricken with numerous of health issues. It was a struggle to recover from most of them. But true, some plugins can be buggy. I decided to remove my email on the Privacy page and see what happens. Havent set up contact form yet.

Good Morning Brenda,

How unpleasant and annoying this is. It could very well be a bluff.See how far we can go with this and how many people fall for it. I suppose you notified Carson and SiteSupport? Nowadays the police also has a special department for things like this.
Bitcoin does not have names involved, so that is also nonsense to say we will know that it was you who paid.

Stay safe and healthy,

Taetske

Simply scam artist so deleted it and put as spam junk email. Seems its common occurrence for all of us getting these spam scam emails. Thanks for commenting.
