Climb Every Mountain
Living here in Oregon and living close to the Casades Mountain Ranges made this blog post title fitting. I never did climb mountains. Physically, I am unable to climb every mountains. I can climb them my inside my mind. How do I do that? The answer is so simple. Remember the movie, "Sounds of Music," by Julie Andrews? How can anyone forget that? Most of us know that it is a classical music film. I was a toddler at the time when the movie was released. I watched the movie numerous times as a child (long before the days of closed captioning). I could hear pretty well at that time with a hearing aid.
I loved the music. I would always be trying to sing it with my voice and signing in ASL as well. My brother who has normal hearing (My parents, myself, and other siblings all Deaf except one brother) would always voice and ASL sign to me "stop singing, you are singing out of tune, its driving me crazy." Evidently, yes I was hard of hearing, and definitely tone deaf, cant sing a note to any songs. I still could sign the lyrics. That was all that mattered to me back then.
Once the closed captioning came out, I finally understood the whole film about the Von Trapp Family Singers. I was able to read the lyrics and be able to ASL sign them. The song that has the most impact on me of all its the the song, "Climb Every Mountain." Remember the scene when Maria Von Trapp is sitting in the office with Reverend Mother discussing why she returned to the Abbey? Reverend Mother knew that Maria was in love with Captian Von Trapp, she slowly walks to the window and starts singing that song. Its the chorus that I love the most.
"Climb ev'ry mountain
Ford ev'ry stream
Follow ev'ry rainbow
'Till you find your dream......"
Does any one remember the sound at the end of the chorus, her voice carries to a high note? Wow, I could not sing like that. I could ASL sign it and follow the song especially at the high note. I will ASL sign "dream" in a long way as to signify the high note. Many deaf people who can't hear music would understand the visual image of the song.
You are probably wondering, "hey lady get to the point would ya"? I will in just a moment. Lets ponder the words to the lyrics. Most of us know the song by heart and also by ear. The question is-does anyone understand what the song means? If I were to ask the audience on WA community, I would get many different responses. Why? Because we are individuals who will think different from others because we are unique in our own thoughts. I want to share what it means for me.
This song means that mentality I can climb every mountains, I can ford every streams, and follow every rainbow until I find my dream. It is my dream of being an online entrperneur but not a quick get rich one, I am not into that. This song means I can establish my goals to find my dreams and make it happen. I intend to do that on WA.
If anyone of you is struggling with your online business, whether or not you are pro or a newbie. I would like for you to please think of this song and how it can help you change your mentality. After all, your mindset is the key to success. Being in a negative frame of mind can set you back and make things worse for your business. Believe me, I know. I experience it. I lived in a negative frame of mind for years. I had to retrain my mindset. Was it easy? No, training my mentality was hard work. Even dream of success is hard work too. I worked in the mortgage and finance (stocks) industry until it went bust after the sub-prime lending downfall. After that experience, I learned to be careful not to allow any naysayers or negative thinking to shatter my dreams of being an online entreprenuer. If I allow that to happen then the song will have no meaning for me. It would be meaningless. In order for me to make it have a meaning, I must change my way of thinking. That is how its going to be for me from here on. I know every now and then a mistake will happen and fear may hinder my results but again I need to remind myself about this song.
