About Brenda63
Joined January 2019
I am a Deaf (I use American Sign Language-ASL to communicate). I am a disabled person living in an electric wheelchair and reside in the beautiful state of Oregon, (Pacific Northwest) Portland area.

I am also recently widowed, lost my husband (v’nam vet ‘66 to ‘68, he was long range sniper) of 18 years from Pancreatic Cancer, almost four years ago. His cremains are buried in Jamestown, North Dakota. He has one surviving daughter (from a previous marriage before me) and three grandkids.

I grew up in Minnesota. Minneapolis/St. Paul, the Twin Cities metro area and spent the other half of my life in Washington, DC attending a deaf high school and college there at Gallaudet University campus. Most of my married life was spent in Fargo, North Dakota- Moorhead, Minnesota. Too cold there. Glad I do not have to deal with the harsh winters anymore.

Prior to attending Gallaudet University in the early 80’s. I went to 2 year associates degree RN nursing school at a private small college in Minneapolis, MN. At that time, I had better hearing. I worked at 3 different skilled nursing facility where I saw a lot of elder abuse. I am grateful, we have better law today that strives to prevent elder abuse. Many of my patients suffered a horrible death. I left nursing to head back to Gallaudet University, majored in Social Work.

I've been a network marketer in MLM since the early 1980s and joined so many different MLM businesses that were not successful.

I started affiliate marketing many years ago but never really found any success mainly because I had no education, training, or background on how to market or how to build a website niche or write a blog.

FYI-I worked as a mortgage loan officer/loan originator for a start up mortgage company until the sub prime lending went bust along with it, lost my job again. I received training experience in sales, credit, debt consolidation, and marketing. Before that worked for a corporation that processed common stocks reports to the Securities Exchange Commission. The corporate decided to downsize, lost my job.

After sub-prime lending problems that led many mortgage companies to shut down, the mortgage industry changed, made it harder for people to qualify for loans. The process became stricter to prevent fraud. Many people up losing their homes to foreclosure. Did some bird dogging and note brokering deals for real estate investors after the collapse.

I went back to school for a career change. While attending school, I worked part-time as caregiver in a private state funded group home until health challenges left me unable to return back to the job.

I decided to become a life and healthcare insurance agent and worked for Bankers Life and Casualty. There I learned more about how to market my insurance business and how to do cold calling and close sales. I enjoyed helping people.

All these different job experiences enabled me to develop wide diverse employment skills.

I always wanted to be a business owner and
I look forward to this new learning adventure here at WA that will help me to be successful.

Sincerely,
Brenda Z.

The thing about online success that I have come to learn is that there is room for ALL of us within the online world. There is no marketplace that is bigger and there is nowhere that represents this kind of opportunity, regardless of your niche, passions and interests (and it only continues to grow!!)

Take action on the training here at WA, immerse yourself within the awesome and helpful community here at WA... and ask for help when you need it. You will be well on your way to achieve your goals Brenda!

Welcome to my family of WA followers.

Reading your bio is very impressive and looking forward to watch your journey. Your background presents an awesome niche for blogging it seems to me. Share what you know with others who may not have the confidence to step out into the world because of an inability to hear.

Will be watching you grow toward successful marketing and sharing your story.

Hi Brenda

My partner is deaf although he was born hearing so he speaks and relies on lipreading, in other words he is oral. He has some sign language but started to learn too late in life so if I sign while I speak it helps him but he cannot rely on sign alone.

We are in the UK so it is BSL which is very different to ASL. You guys have a one-handed alphabet - I am so jealous of that, we use two hands which is inconvenient some times, like if you are carrying something lol

I think you will find WA tricky initially with the training because it is video heavy and there are no closed captions. I was wondering if you have any speech to text software that you use to help you follow what Kyle is saying? I would love to be able to involve my partner in WA but without captions, or better still genuine subtitles he is lost.

It's a great shame because I think the opportunities WA offers would be an absolute life-changer for deaf people I know who struggle to find paid work in the hearing world and have to settle for low-paid manual work. Don't get me started, it makes me so angry!

I am so excited to meet you here and I just want to encourage you to stick with this even though I know it will be challenging due to your deafness. If there is anything I can help with please don't hesitate to get in touch.

All the best

Hi Alison,

I know Auslan (Aussie Signs) my brother in law is Deaf but lives here in the States, he married my Deaf sister. We use capital D -Deaf family, we are five generations and belong to the Deaf community. I know how to use both hands for BSL and AUSLAN, both languages are not the same, each has own signs but the alphabet is the same.

Thanks for sharing with me.

Eventually, it is my hope that Carson and Kyle and the company can find any way to utilize the technology to help Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals who want to join WA.

The training videos have already been transcribed and it's posted here on WA.

I have Dragon Dictation software on my phone and I haven't tried it yet. I will test it to see if that works for other videos without having to depend on other WA members to transcribe it, thanks for the reminder.

The training is pretty visual and I follow along with where the mouse cursors go and also follow the script, I read it, the link is somewhere listed down my on my profile. I will send the link to you if I find it so that your partner can read and follow along it shouldn't stop anyone from wanting to succeed whether they are deaf or not.

He can do it, anyone can, yes it takes work but that how business works.

Thanks.

Welcome to wa and all the best !

I have cousins living in Milwaukee Oregon right near the bomber gas station which as of a few years ago the owner took down the bomber because he found out it's worth around 1/4 million because now bombers are quite rare not like after the war.

Are you talking about the “Lacey Lady”
B-17 Bomber from WW2? I never saw it because it was gone before I moved here but the Lacey Bomber is now at a restoration hanger to which the family now working on restoration of the plane. Art’s grandson opened a museum (never been there) and restoration takes a long time because replacing old parts hard to find these days. They dismantled the plane and building it back up. Thanks for sharing that with me.

Thanks for the follow, I returned the favor as well.

WA is all new for me. I’m working on it.

Thanks!

Yes that's the one they had thousands of those bombers after the war so now they are rare.
Apparently the city would not allow the bomer to be placed above the pumps and so they did it anyway ! Then they got a petition signed by thousands of people and were allowed to keep it.

My cousins the Lisacs lived just down the rode on a 3 1/2 acre plot of agricultural land in a 4500 sq. ft. Home right by the creek only about 5 homes in the neighbourhood.
Can you imagine back un the late 60's they bought the whole thing for like $20,000.00 times have changed.

The lisacs still have 2 stores i believe that sell free heat fireplace inserts, that's the history story for today ha ha by for now and have a great day !
